I was reading that like OH NO NOT AGAIN lol... We can do 24h if you like, I enjoy both. I won't even bother posting my times there, as i never save any of those replays.

I confused myself for a second there haha .

Yeah Nurb 24 is cool . Really ? Why not ? You get incredible replay footage from that circuit ? I've got loads saved from there lol .

On topic for the thread : Does anybody find that pad users have less control over the car during a break away , or the opposite ? And does this effect tyre wear less or more as opposed to the front end '' Overpushing '' clips we saw before ?

I don't save replays there because most people have no idea what they can run there so i have nothing to compare to, i just remember all of my times, everyone online believes me, and i never had a need to prove anything before so i just saved the nordy one's... hardly.

Lewis hamilton was a good source for this. We both agreed that it was easier to recover from an error with a pad. Saving tires.

Over Pushing was the worst tire burner, but it is also completely avoidable. So if you take that out of the equation, Best of the best for pad and wheel, the Wheel will be a few tenths faster, and possibly be able to look after the rear tires better, due to more control over throttle input (stupid R2 button) Speed wise there is a few exceptions in TT's and Tire wear is a little harder to judge at that level, I was never in a WRS race to see for myself.

rocskolove, we look forward to your video replay on Saturday. Can't help hoping it will happen sooner... One of the reason you received so much flak is that racers like small_fryz is some of fastest GT5 players known in GTP.

If he is near 10s off your claimed time in that stipulated condition, its sure to raise many eyebrows. The WRS division is initially base on timing in the Ring so they are well practised at the Ring.

More so since you are new, claimed to be casual player who plays occasionally and not topping WRS or seasonal TTs. 310 ranking for TT is more than decent but some here are top 20 consistently if they put in effort. Sounds wrong that they are that far off your timing. If you are at pole position and lead throughout (no draft you said), it is essentially a time trial in that race so you should be alien fast at TTs. 10sec ahead of small_fryz at the ring is almost unheard of.

My popcorn is almost finished... hopefully, we have your replay soon.

He has only had a day or so to run that car/track combo. The only reason he is 10 seconds behind is because i have ran hundreds of laps with a CSL at those specs. This took more time than any of them have ever had to practice for TT's or anything WRS related, they are constantly changing specs. I specialized with that car/track combo. If he had anywhere near the amount of laps i had into it, i'm sure he would be much, much closer. But no one will ever drive one car, on one track as long as i did either. I doubt i have the skill involved to be a top driver, i can run with anyone (who would i be if i didn't believe in myself?) its just how much time you put into it. But these guys have the ability to adapt to tracks and cars and tire restrictions and all that crap. I just run the ring man (just learned braking points at Sarthe last week :)) Oh the Time Trialing kills my fun, so i never participate. I play at a friends house, i don't own a PS3 or GT5. I just really got into it (spent hours reading this site learning everything i could) But thats why my time is limited. I'm probably a little more than casual ;)

Oh and hey, thanks for being mature. I won't disappoint ya. When it comes to it, I would like to race a bunch of you guys on saturday anyway, as thats the best proof, video's mean nothing (unless there is a way to check for SRF if i send the XMB file or whatever it is)

EDIT- I suck at punctuation @ typing speed.

Honestly the way i see it as a wheel user. Is that yes you have a 100% better feel and control over the car.

Reason
DS3- you can't turn your wheels all they way over when either it being un-necessary or necessary. And that is one of the main points I have towards this discussion. Far as tire wear uhhh it really depends on the tune. When i used to race on DS3. But i wouldn't think it would be a better results with a controller but a possibility.

Wheel- you can turn your wheels all the way over whenever you want no matter when it is un- necessary or necessary. With the wheel you can feel more. You can feel the weight shift back and forth (hints why i think the dead zone is like how it is in GT5)

I know this thread is mostly about racing which I do both race and drift. One main thing you can see while drifting is the front wheels bobbing back and forth when you are using the controller which means you are losing steering angle. Which one a wheel you never see that. One great example of this is when I join a drift lobby on Cape Ring North it is almost impossible for people to drift the whole ring on a controller. Which I can do and pretty much everyone I know with a wheel can do too. I have even experimented with people by giving the tune to my current drift car and told them to try it. Only seen it done once on a controller but not consistently.

@felix

I'm so accustomed to 1 track. I don't even know when to brake, or which way the blind corners are going to turn without looking at the mini map (i stare at it so it causes missed apex's and such).. I race some friends on the nurb, and they switch it up every once in awhile and laugh at me on other tracks. Its bad lol.

I don't think I will honestly ever manage to master the ring , it's way beyond what limited talent I have that's for sure!

Regardless of what arguments are going on with this thread , I have the upmost respect to any racer who can competently race the ring , without running off and hitting other drivers.

Are you able to race the ring in any car or do you have set favorites that you use for set PP ranges and do you have a prefered drivetrain for it?

For certain tracks I tend to use a select group of cars that I feel the most confident with , a god example would be how I like to use the GT500 class cars for tracks like Laguna Seca , due to the good downforce and great powerband curves. Tracks like Tsukuba I like to use the premium Evo VI Tommy Makinen edition with the active yaw control selected.

I normally stay away from rooms that run the ring and after watching a few uploaded replays of races on there , I realise I am sadly missing out on some good racing. I hope I will be able to catch you and some of the others on this thread at the ring , in the vain hope of learning something.

Ok I put some serious effort into the challenge. 1 lap online race, No aids except ABS, 550pp limit. BMW M3 CSL on R3's with grip on real. 453hp, 1153kg.

After a good few hours I have a saved 6'33.5. Honestly I can't see myself shaving any more than 2 seconds off this time even if I was to dedicate a whole week. Even if by some miracle I was able to run a 6'29 (which to put into context would be a better lap than I did in the WRS) you are still almost 3 seconds faster. That puts you on equal terms (or even faster) with the very best drivers I have ever raced against, I don't think you quite understand the skill level required to run such a lap. Those drivers win international TT's and are academy finalists. If you really are able to run those times then the whole next part of my post is irrelevant as you clearly contradict yourself.

The only reason i am fast at the ring is because its mainly the only track i drive, with a small selection of cars. And i only really enjoy racing other people online. I hate time trialing by myself.

I'm not an alien capable of running super fast time no matter what the car and track combo. I'm just really, really good at Nurb. Those guys have a skill i am not sure i could master.
Again, the quality of the time you are suggesting puts you into the top tier alien category that makes it impossible for you to be slow anywhere else in the game except for maybe rally. You can't just be fast at nurb, then be "slow" everywhere else. Simply not possible.

So here you are saying you drive loads and loads.

I don't do time trials because i don't have much time to play.
But here you are saying you don't?

I play at a friends house, i don't own a PS3 or GT5. I just really got into it (spent hours reading this site learning everything i could) But thats why my time is limited. I'm probably a little more than casual ;)
And then here we find out you don't even own a PS3 and GT5?

Yet you are capable of posting times that put you amongst the top echelon of GT drivers?

Now clearly we have 3 possible explanations here.

1) Your time was set with different rules and regulations than mine, and thus my whole reference point is out of whack.

2) You are making it up

3) You just happen to be one of the most naturally gifted drivers in the world at GT5 and can lay down times on your mates PS3 on a random weekend fast enough to challenge the top drivers. (or you are an existing racer with a second account)

Not that I need to backup my credibility but just in case others wish to have a go, I will attach my replay and setup.

And I'm more than happy to race you online on the weekend if your mate lets you.

Interesting points , all of which are noted 👍

I suck at drifting on my dfgt , wouldn't even know how to tune a car for it . Circuit racer through and through I guess. Was once invited to Race in a Pure GT500 series here but didn't have the time to join / race etc ...

Maybe again in the future though .

EDIT - Rosckolove . . .

Better make that the best comeback this site has ever seen .....

So what is happening, i've been waiting days for this fairystory lap of his, he's clearly full of s###!

I doesn't take long to upload a youtube vid, he's probably realised his time is wrong and its actually 6.36 and he's been frantically trying to get a 26 for days, sweating or searching youtube for someone elses lap!

I can see why you say i contradicted myself, let me explain. I don't get time to play as i don't own a PS3. Thats why i don't do TT's and such.

Every second I ever do play though is devoted to the ring, Its quite a bit of time when every single bit of it is allotted to one thing. Kind of make sense?

^^ that also explains kind of why i suck at other tracks, If i practiced them sure i would be fast, but i NEVER race any other track, I don't even know braking points. 1 Exception ---> I entered the last race of the ALMS season at Le Sarthe, practiced for 5-10 minutes @ the specified regs before the race (thats when i joined the room and found out what was going on and signed up quick) I was almost 30 seconds up with 2 laps to go in a 25 lap race. Then i ran out of gas hahaha :dunce: There is a whole race report about it in the race series section under ALMS season V. It was quite funny :)

As for your option 3 (the most accurate one) I only run these times because i dedicate all of my GT5 Experience to this kind of stuff, I barely know how to tune a car for a flat track, see what i'm getting at?
I get the whole second account thing a lot actually. People always think I'm someone else.

@Phil, I'm clearly not full of **** I have to wait till the weekend, to go back to my buddies house, so i can upload the file, its not hard to grasp really. There is no lap on youtube, I searched long and hard to find anything even close, only found xXPrinceRajaXx with a 6:28. Hold your foolish comments until saturday. And phil ask all your UK buddies, they are mainly the ones that have seen it first hand. I would never keep something so stupid going for so long if i had made it up, I only lose in that situation. Think about it. IF i was lying about this, you all know my PSN name, And i would be an idiot then. I don't like a bad rep, and I sure as hell don't want to put all the time in to Gain all of my cars back on another account so i didn't look so stupid :)

I really do apologize for not being able to upload a video any sooner than saturday. I assume you will be there saturday, to do some real races, since video's don't prove much anyway?

And remember guys, i got called out on this. I didn't ask for any of this, directly.

@ TJC, I must say, this saturday will be the most satisfying day on GT5 i will probably ever have haha.

@ Small Fry, I'll send you an FR friday or saturday night, whenever i make it up there, Also i babysit this dudes kid, so I get hours and hours straight to practice. I guess i'm a bad babysitter haha.

In regards to us matching up and racing , you of course must know that I will probably end up lapping you , all aids apart from ABS will be disabled , plus im pretty sure , make that 1000% positive that if you race these guys, GTPs finest no doubt ... You will be destroyed.

Good luck in your race on Saturday ...

I have a feeling you're gonna want to sign out and pretend your internet connection was faulty.

See you Sunday if you're still here .

I don't want to start an unnecessary argument. But i must say this, I don't get lapped, or destroyed at the ring, Ever. And trust me dude, I wouldn't pass this up for anything, My friend has 2 separate internet connections from 2 different providers at his place so looks like I screwed myself out of that excuse.
Can we keep it somewhat adult? thanks.

I'm being very civil ... just letting you know that these guys aren't just some part time Mario Kart racers ... but you will find that out... oh boy will you indeed sir .

Trying to condascend a 32 year old male , and failing , doesn't look good either . How old are you ? Just out of curiosity ?

Can you guys , Small Fryz etc post up some YouTube vids of this race if possible ? Be interesting to see what i'm really up against after all .. 👍

No disrespect to the WRS guys I don't know another way to answer this, but what do you think is going to happen if i can run 27's (probably 28-29 now without some serious practice, I haven't run the CSL hard in a while) and my competition is running 33's?

I'm only 24. Me failing is up for debate, some other time.

Why don't you just join us?

Should also invite some Nurb veteran like Mike_GT3, Sutuki, or any other drivers who posted quick lap times at Nordschleife Time Board. That will be very interesting race.

I think thats a great idea, I have wanted to race Mike_GT3 for a while, a long while. Who is Sutuki?

I'll let the WRS guys answer that.

I've already outlined my available schedule during the week . Not available until Sunday due to le GF ....

So you haven't even got a PS3!!! And you are faster than Dan Holland etc:-D
This just gets better!

I bet the room you entered had SRF on!

Have you entered any seasonal time trials?

It was in reply to a comment you made, not a comment a WRS guy made. Sorry, forgot your schedule.

I do not have a PS3

Has dan holland ever raced a CSL at 550pp around the ring, and put effort into it? Have i ever stated i was faster? Has anyone stated i was faster? I can't race with SRF on. I tried it once way back, it messed with me. Never tried it again. I only join rooms after turning the SRF filter off ;) Yes i entered 1 TT. I was 3 seconds off the top time. I could have done better but its not my thing (TTing by myself on tires/track/awd car i don't like and am not used to. Not that i would have won that anyway. Like i said these guys are all better than me, they can adapt and be quick at anything. I'm just good at 1 thing.

Oh and i agree it does just keep getting better and better, think of how its going to be for me after i prove all of this, And then how its going to be for people that post things like yourself (i'm referring to your full of **** comment)

I know how this looks. trust me i do, but you can't expect me to let these guys rip me apart on the forum, and besides.... When its all said and done, well, it will be all said and done. And none of my defensive arguments will be in vain.

It was TT 45 #1 i think. The italian 550pp one, that the gallardo dominated. Just in case you want to check that. I did horrible.

P.S. i have a friend online that can also run a 6:27 at the same specs albeit its in the nardo concept car (concepts are faster as you know) but its still an amazing lap. I will see if i can get him in on the fun too. I don't think you guys realize that A LOT of guys are running 6:31's and lower online, a lot of no name guys you never heard of, like me.

Another great driver who often posted times at Nordschleife time board, also GTP_manuelos, Alex p and quite a few others who have many times on the board. They should be able to give you an awesome race.

You'll get the respect that you deserve. 👍

That said, you're dealing with the fastest people on the planet here (and not just GT planet). They know what is a feasible time and what is not, given a setup. To be even a second faster than someone like Small_Fryz is huge, let alone 6 seconds.

You claim to be the fastest on the planet, while not even owning a PS3, and no proof whatsoever. Guess how that sounds...

EDIT- I suck at telling the truth

I've fixed the last part for you 👍

http://psnprofiles.com/dayofwar2009/stats

Please tell us again how you don't own a PS3 ?
How you are a causal gamer ?
Plus how you can only play on Saturdays ?

Your stats here say that you do nothing but play all night and earn trophies ....

How interesting .... 👍

I never said i was the fastest in the world.... Anyone of them could do the time's i posted, if they spent the time. Unless i am some prodigy that i am not even aware of (i thinks its safe to say i'm not) They can do it too.

He could be sharing account with his buddy ?
Thanks ridox, he lacks reason sometimes.

3 people total use that account. I have no idea whats being done on it. Thanks for taking so much interest though ;)

Please tell us again how you don't own a PS3 ?

Um, same as everyone else who doesn't have a PS3, I never purchased one?

How you are a causal gamer ?

I play mostly on weekends. Sometimes i get more time in, sometimes less

Plus how you can only play on Saturdays ?

Never stated that, your doing the lack of reason thing again. To clear up your obvious future confusion. I am busy all week, and can't make it until saturday this week. Simple right?

If you notice, i tried to keep most of these details out of the original posts way back, after i was picked out for a challenge. I didn't mention them because it would make my case worse, and i knew it. But you guys have such a god damn problem waiting till saturday picking apart everything I say, I am forced to give you detail after detail. Not that there is anything wrong with that, everything i have said is true, but if you guys just relax, this will all go way smoother, with less insults flying around. I'm going to defend myself, A ridiculous claim is one thats not real, Mine have yet to be proven either way and your all jumping down my throat. So just freakin relax, and maybe try to beat the time? or maybe just ignore the entire thread.

Obviously this is not to the people that act properly. I appreciate you guys.

And TJC your intuition sucked in the last debate we had, and it continues to suck. You go from misinterpreting things, to just flat out guessing...
