Time Trial #54

What? I never said anything about anyone being friendly or not. I was simply laughing at his comment because it just hit me as being humorous at the time. Nothing to do with anyone at all.

I think you misunderstood there CR...
When I posted my 'joke' I actually worried that I had insulted JK83 (when I saw his sig, lol) but he posted another 'joke' back and I felt much better :)
Am I right JK83?

I have a suggestion. It would be great if whoever makes up the OP for these events, keeps on top of the thread and links the tunes to the OP. This event is only hours old and there are already 115 responses to sift through to find a tune, if one is even posted.

I've been doing this for weeks now on AdrenaTune! :)
I didn't include the older Vette tune in the seasonal section, as I didn't think it would be relative to the leaderboard fashion, so I just indexed it in its proper place under Classic Muscle Cars. But as tunes are posted, I've been including them on their specific Seasonal Page.

Yes there was a few the first morning it went live, I did it in a Z06 too I think. Couldn't handle the ZR1, every tune I tried didn't tame it, so tried the Z06, found a tune that worked enough to get the gold time, and now I haven't gone back to it.

Personally I preferred the Z06 and was unable to beat my best lap, even after jumping in a ZR1.

I'm still relatively new to drifting, but it seems that the goal is to have your leading tire, as close to the curb as possible, at the correct angle, and speed is irrelevant, but gear is rumored to have an effect.
Regardless, if it's a right hand turn, then your left front tire, needs to be as close as it can get to the curb, for the duration of the turn. Speed seems less important, than control, because a slow drift, if held correctly, allows you to rack up points continuously throughout the entire turn.

I used the same Vette from the Time Trial, because it seemed like it wanted to slide all around anyways, and I had just gotten spent an hour learning to control the slide anyways. Zr1 or the Z06 should work fine, but whatever the leaders are using is probably best.

Thank you for this info. I've actually been working on doing that. I did manage to get almost 15,000 pts in JK's 54 Vette. What you say makes sense from what I've experienced so far. I've noticed that some of the turns, such as the one just after the tunnel seem to benefit from going more slowly through.

My next step is to link the drifts. There are about 4 places where it can be done by switching directions. I haven't figured out how to do that well. I can only kinda sorta barely do it on occasion.

JK started a DT thread which we've been posting in. Hopefully some others will join that and offer some advice.

By the way, I think you mentioned experimenting with the Vette for the TT. Did you make any adjustments?

OK let's be serious then.

.at least I hope so, but so far we are good

Nope, 1:20.389 in the TT and Golded the drifting without any changes, except I might have installed the Super Charger for giggles? (And Comfort Hards of course)
Which, wasn't really a setup:

Z06
Default setup(Tranny included)
Rear Toe: 0.00
LSD: 9/12/5
Aero 0/7

580PP
659HP
1235kg

For people looking for a more consistent and conservative drive from the Z06, I think CSL's tune (Photo Finish Racing) was a solid start point. I tested his and Praiano's but ended up sticking with the stock suspension as it just felt better to me. More on edge, but faster overall.

I'll have to try that, Adrenaline. Maybe a stock one isn't so damned squirrely on the track. ;)

The tunes listed on your page are for the ZR1, not the Z06. Did you mean that the other way around?

Guess I was just confused as to why he felt the need to quote me when I was only laughing at your comment, which had nothing to do with him. If anything, he should have quoted you, not me. Understand my confusion?

No need to be confused about my quotes..ok ?
I'm realy sorry if I spoiled your laughts...

I used the ZR1 tunes on the Z06.
But I will include the Z06 tunes, but it seemed as is the community had agreed the ZR1 was the better car.

I understand now. :D

I did try Photo Finish Racing's tune on the ZR1 and it was much more stable. I'll give it a go on the Z06 tomorrow and see how that goes.

I actually have a hypothesis that might work. I'll be buying a couple of new Vettes to test it out and if there's anything at all to it, I'll let ya know.

For now, I'm too tired to drive or fiddle with car parts that I don't fully understand yet. :dopey:

Firmly in the 1:19 club now.
Proving to be darn tricky this one.

If anyone is interested...

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) '09
Engine: 582bhp (Stage 2 engine)
Power: 89.4%

Aero: 0 / 15
All PP free parts.

Height: 11 / 16
Spring: 11.5 / 12.4
Ext: 6 / 6
Comp: 5 / 5
ARB: 5 / 5
Camb: 2.7 / 2.2
Toe: 0.02 / 0.00

LSD: 12/16/7
Brakes: 6 / 5

Transmission: Reset to defualt, Set final to 3.280, Set Max Speed to 180, then set individual gears, then final ratio.
1st: 3.033 (should be all the way to left)
2nd: 2.290
3rd: 1.755
4th: 1.409
5th: 1.148
6th: 0.984 (should be all the way to right)
Final: 3.376 (173mph at the top)

I am pretty consistant in the 1:19's. Carefull throttle control needed, just cant quite get the rear in step.
Actually managed to get 154mph at the end of the straight at last.

Oh boy, Joker passed me again and bumped me out of the top 5. This means war :mischievous:

Dying to have a go in the Vette, but as I only had a bit of time to try the new Seasonals last night I left it for when I have a bit more time.

I did have a quick go in the RS200 with the pad and ticked off both the drift trials... the SSR5 drift trail is quite nice 👍

Looking forward to a proper run in the Vette... as others have said, Amo's lap is lovely to watch... so smooth.

Looking forward to your tune. 👍

When you say "default setup" do you only refer to the suspension? Meaning you still add all the PP mods to raise PP right? For me a stock Z06 w/oil chg and aero is only 538pp? Just checking ...

Love your site BTW!

So the secret to the rally time trial is to:
-any 4WD rally car at 560pp will do. (lancia stratos doesnt have enough power to be competitive :( /sad face)
-max out the ride height (as high as she can go front and back)
-turn off traction control and abs
-set the gearbox to "the lowest speed" then set the final drive value higher until the estimated speed is about 165-177kmph (or 102-110mph). This seems to be very important.
Tip for breaking: If the engine is very quiet or near 0,000rpm during breaking you need to give the accelerator a bit of a poke till the engine comes to life again and you will gain A LOT of traction (this seems to be a real problem with the LANCIA S4)
General Tip: All your inputs to the car will be delayed so you have to take action in advance of the coming corner, start turning well before you normally would and then once in the corner start turning towards the next corner (if your in an 'S' curve for example).
Any of the 4WD's can get gold. You dont need to change the tune except for the Diff, gearbox, and ride height.

Alright, where oh where is my beloved Dalone. Here kitty kitty kitty. For the last few weeks you have been calling me out saying how you were going to give me a real ass whipping in these time trials. Well, here I am, come get some.:D I've been tuning a few cars the last few days for this run at Deep Forest and have the tuning done, now its ready to roll. And before you go and use your lame excuse that I only pick time trials that I know I can do good in, well, smoke on this. I have never ran this course in reverse mode and I have only used the Vette that I am using for this a handful of times at the most so you can take that excuse and throw it right out the window. So come on big boy, lets see what you got. You called me out for two weeks straight, I just hope your mouth didn't write a check that your talent can't cash. I even told you to be careful what you wished for, but that didn't seem to matter as you just kept on with your banter. So, put your big boy pants on and lets do this. :)

My time is currently 1:20.171 and that was done just while I was tuning my car. Now I'm ready to get down to buissiness. And not to worry, the talent bank is far from empty.:sly:

EDIT: And before I forget, don't even think about putting your training wheels (SRF) on. Use any other aid you want, but I'm not competing against some using an aid that gives your car super unrealistic handling capabilities. This is a big boy event. We're not playing Mario Kart here.

This was from the 24th:

Currently at # 306 with 1:21.978. No real tune, just a bit of this and a bit of that.

Waiting for one to get posted here.

And the last time I raced the Deep Forest Reverse was in the Japanese 80's Festival, with a Miata! So it's completely different now in a high powered under then oversteering 'Vette. Let's see what he says though. :mischievous:

Alright, where oh where is my beloved Dalone. Here kitty kitty kitty. :

It's Australia day down here, he will most probably be out riding kangaroos and fishing for crocodiles today. It's a long weekend though -public holiday on Monday so plenty of time for him to crash corvettes.

Lol, well I certainly hope he doesn't hurt himself down there in the outback. I don't wanna hear any excuses from him about how a croc ate his arm or how a kangaroo broke his leg.

ZR1, fresh oil, almost broken in
Engine tuning stage 3
All Weight reductions stage 3
Aero 0/20
Ballast 200kg position 0
84.1% power limiter
All drivetrain/transmission stuff
1421kg 584hp

LSD 12/16/7

Ride height 5/10
Springs 16.9/16.3
Dampers ext 8/5
Dampers comp 5/4
ARB 4/3

Camber 2.5/2.2
Toe -0.08/0.00
Brakes 6/8

Gears aren't fine tuned, set top speed to 270kmh and that's all. Works well for me for now.

Has fantastic stability and cornering, requires some throttle control but it's a corvette so that's normal... It put me top 200 and runs low 1:20s all day, the power and weight are misleading, you can't put down 650hp on sports hards so might as well have the aero instead!

The car is very responsive and nimble, there is another second or 1.5 I can find on the track myself, I'm sure others will find even more. This is a work in progress, feel free to let me know what you thought, all critisism appreciated :)

I'm glad pd listens to nobody with these seasonal events. I just wish they would force us to use comfort hards with nascar in Côte d'Azur next....

I concur, Ford RS200, set rear diff to max 6.000, max speed to 118 mph, feather tthe throttle like mad to keep revs up, and grab pieces of grass wher you can, not too much though or you'll red out.
