GT Spec Changes - Active with immediate effect.

Jaguar - Now 455pp (Approx 269hp) (Was 450pp)
Lancia - Now 445pp (Approx 239hp) (Was 453pp)
Shelby - Sports ECU granted. Now 460pp. (Approx 318hp) (Was 455pp)

Just wondering why the Jag needs more power?

Bit of both. I always give around 1.5 seconds to driver. But Braun was struggling to get 2:08's.

Therein lies the problem. You have two drivers, one car, two different times, sometimes poles apart.

Snow was a good second faster than me, even after his transmission tweak. Prior to that it was a 2.5 second difference.

If it was not for his help I would have been much slower than the Jag in the 2:09's. What then?

The Jag has always been poor at Daytona. How can a car that doesn't turn (it rolls) be competitive at a track that has 4 hairpins and 2 chicanes! :P

Others testing showed it to be slow aswell, Joe for e.g had it way off the pace he set in others.

Just trying to help out ;).

Well I was able to keep pace with FlyingFox and his Corvette, even powering past when running a higher line on the banking. Gotta be careful when doing that, though. Especially if there's more than 1 prototype in the vicinity.

Reminder to all GT drivers, you have rights to the driving line. It is up to Prototypes to go around YOU. You race your own race, and your own line!

Hmm... that argument for fixed sports suspension may be gathering weight soon

Yes I was wondering when this would crop up.

I'm sure it would make a difference to the Jag (stopping the roll) and the Vette (as that sits quite high).

Yeah, I've felt a lot of dive under braking. Haven't noticed much of the body roll when cornering. I already had the full racing suspension on it, but had to remove it because of series rules. And no, I didn't buy my E-Type and then fit said suspension recently. I've had it since I working through the A-spec Historic Sports Car Cup in the main championships, not the Seasonal Events versions.

I wont be at the race next sunday because i have been suprised with tickets to the nascar race at michigan! Yay!

Daytona Road Course
80 Laps / 284.8 Miles

It wouldn't be a WSC season without starting off at Daytona. The evocative high banks are a speedbowl with the fastest cars hitting over 200mph. Daytona's WSC race is also one of the longest events on the calendar, 80 laps in an event over 2 hours in length. Mentally it's punishing, with no time to rest from oval to infield.

A Daytona Hot Lap:
When you are doing approaching 190mph across the line in a 500hp prototype you have to get your braking bang on. Get your car to drag to the right under braking and swing it into Turn 1, the car should arc through, don't be intimidated by the barriers encroaching through Turn 2. The Horseshoe - 180 degree hard on the brakes, you might run slightly wide on run off under power. Turn 4 is a flick to the left, about gathering as much speed as possible, make sure car is still on left side of the road for Turn 5, and guide it round for Turn 6, which opens up onto the banking. Flat to the floor and you see barriers on the NASCAR backstretch - time for Bus Stop chicane, slam brakes, throw car onto the kerb, still doing 100mph, and similar on the exit, running the car up to the wall - don't hit it, as approaching the Bus Stop wrongly can cost you around second in itself.

Furi's Race Control Statement To Drivers:
After last weeks idiocy, lets try it again. All in my lobby though. For the pace lap, slowly get going off the banking, we have plenty of time to get formed. Pace speed is 50mph, single file until after the Bus Stop Chicane, where we will form double file for the start. Leader can decide to green any time from start of pit lane, and once he crosses the line the race is go everybody.

Watch your self with traffic PT drivers, remember that GT class has right to hold there line. And remember, its a very long race, one mistake early on doesn't mean your hopes of a good finish are dashed.

Best of luck to all, just please clear cache before we begin ;)

Damn bad posting time

You just re-posted something twice, something you posted last week...

I'll drive the Alpine tomorrow (er, today?). Just tested it out and it's not that bad to drive. There's enough grip and the oversteer is largely absent if you drive carefully and stick to basics. There's not really many corners at Daytona that give it trouble; turn 5 can get you sideways if you turn while braking, but it can be caught and you'll only lose half a second or so. The 1st corner and the bus stop are hairy, but they are hairy in any car so nothing particularly unusual there. I got down to a 2'06.1 in my short practice, but I didn't do enough laps to gauge tire wear or how the car behaves on worn rubber. Overall the Alpine seems good, at least for the dry races.
