Turnaround race?

Am I the only one having problems connecting to the GT6 servers? If not, and they're actually down for maintenance or something similar, does anyone know when they'll be up again?

A little heads-up for todays event. Since there will be four track changes in a relatively short amount of time I will disable the voice chat option.
Things are usually pretty stable/reliable on my end, but just as a precaution I'll turn it off.

There also seems to be a strange but funny PD glitch these last two weeks where the previous car you used remains as
your current one even if you should change it. :dopey:

A brief reminder of how the PP will progress through each race;

Good luck to those who take part. 👍

I also have a little announcement or request for you guys.
I'd like to change the Club poster that currently sits at the top on page #1 and I need you guys in order to do that.
The idea will be the same..

As it happens (how convenient, eh?) Wheeler, Manny and I have a pretty unusual event planned for the Nordschleife in a short while.
More on that later on but after that event I'd love for the regulars and any newbies to stay and participate in a re-shoot of this photo above at the Karusell.
There shouldn't be a problem if there are sixteen cars on screen (at least I think they will all fit).

Just let one car be in the center and the rest spread out evenly on each side of it.
Turn your wheels how you please, full beam, low beam, whatever. Your choice. :)

I will add your names and flags afterwards and the new poster will represent the Club for the remainder of it's existence.
However long that may be.

Oh, and a sort of "sister-Club" to the Z8 will be created quite soon. It won't have anything in common with the Z8 but
you are all invited to check it out and maybe we'll see each other there too. 👍

Jocke, I might have to leave after the first two races since I have school too atend to the next day.
Because if I got this right, the races will start 20:40 CET, so Yeah. Hope you dont mind! :/

That's cool, no worries. School is important.
Just means you will most likely score the least amount of points that's all. :)

I don't know about forty minutes past?
The qualifying for race #1 will start just after 8pm GMT. In other words one hour and a couple of minutes from now.

Awesome racing guys, and thank you so much for letting me be a part of this! My apologies if I was driving slightly aggressive and inappropriate at times, I was so concentrated during the races that, If I slightly bumped into someone, you should know that I'm terribly sorry! Good racing guys, until next time! :D

Edit: Especially at the first corner, I mixed with my Brake Balance, couldn't get it perfect though, so I have some tuning to do ;)

Awesome racing guys
Good night Jocke
It was intense with five qualifyings and five races in the space of ~90 minutes.
But it was nice and I wouldn't want to remove the 5-minute qualifying session because
that to me is almost as fun as the actual racing.

I must say the car felt more controllable at 530PP with SH
than 500PP with SH. Strange as it sounds. And 540 with SS was interesting too.

I have no idea who the champion is. My bet would be either Dusty, cgg or Smiley.
I'll announce it as soon as possible.

Jocke, do we have an exact date on the Nurb event? I wouldn't wanna miss it
No not yet, a few things needed to be tested first to see if it actually would work online. Luckily it did :)
But the date and time must be decided first between us three who will present it later. To be continued ;)
Happened to see this on other forum:
Cool, but I would rather have the talking jacket. :)

Thank you to Smiley who saved my butt after the X-Challenge event #794.
Somehow I forgot to save Trial Mountain, but Smiles was there to save the day and I was able to complete the results.
Dusty became champ even though he missed the first race. :lol: What can you say?
Apricot Hill got a lot darker than I had meant for. I set the track time to 7pm and thought there would be plenty of bright skies still,
but the sun was almost completely gone.

Hey @JockeP22 what day and time do the races take place? Really keen to join:)
Hello Aaroh, nothing is really set in stone so far in 2015. We are not running a long championship here or anything, the results you see above is all from one evening of racing.

We seem to have been consistently able to race on Tuesday's at 8pm GMT, so that will continue this Tuesday (13th) with three simple race-setups using the Z8.
Drivers who can show up do so, there is no need to sign-up in advance.
The ID is 1001609.

The next Club event will be pretty special and somewhat crazy and unusual.
Wheeler, Manny and I just need to decide on a time and day and everything will be explained here in the thread later.

By the way Aaroh, do you live anywhere near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala perhaps? :)

Hey Jocke, I know that 'No Nitro' is pretty much a default setting for most rooms, but it could fit nicely with the atmosphere at the Z8 Club. It's Nitrous Oxide, laughing gas, and racing with this mob is always a bit of a laugh. Its strategic use would add a bit of spice, I think, especially at Nurb. Do you keep it to attack/defend on that bloody long straight? Or do you blast up the hill with it? Who knows!?

Just a thought.

Cheers, Zo.

^^ I'd never tried nitro until I fitted it to my 3 Kei cars recently (an idea I'm working on). It's a blast. An expensive blast mind you - it cost considerably more than the cars! But it works really well on them.
A tame(ish) little street car into a 300hp monster with a press of a button. :scared: :D

Might be worth a try on the Z8's (or Cappy) - Could have push to pass areas like F1 etc.

I live in Mumbai, quite far from kerala.
I only asked because I created an F1 driver once who came from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. :)
Here's my Z8

Can you see the hand in the window, Aaroh? :eek:
I think someone is being murdered! We need to investigate when we get to Monaco tomorrow.
Maybe it is the butler strangling his employer. Or perhaps a burglar looking for jewelry saw someone
in the apartment and had to take care of business.

It's Nitrous Oxide, laughing gas
Yarr.. there's nitro in them tharr mountains I tells ya.

We could definitely try nitro some time :)

It was either the wipers or nitro.
I have wipers, horn and full-beam flashing equipped.
Sometimes it creates confusion though because I have the horn on the same button as when I go to chat. :mad:

Today (Tuesday) there will be those three races mentioned above at Monaco, Nordschleife and Sierra.
One of them will be a good practice race for Wednesday, January 21st @ 3:30pm EST / 8:30pm GMT.

*Background.

A few weeks ago I raced with Wheeler at the Nordschleife and as I crossed the finish line I sat
and waited, looking at the results board. I noticed one driver never crossed the line even though I
knew he was trailing me by only ten seconds. That driver was Wheeler. :)

I didn't have a full map displayed so I was curious what had happened to him.
Post-race I inquired what went wrong in the race.

'Nothing went wrong' he said, 'I just like going the other way'.

Wheeler had stopped at the final corner and turned around and gone back the way he came.
I thought, and still think the idea was/is intriguing and started asking Wheeler some questions
and after a while we started planning for a proper race to be held this way.

Many variations can be incorporated into this type of race set-up but for this inaugural race we
will keep it as simple as possible.

The race will be run at the Nurburgring Nordschleife and here are the basics;

* One-Make race - 512pp - 471 BHP - 1,710 KG
* All drivers will use the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe '06
* Oil-change will be permitted
* All other changes that affect BHP and Weight will be prohibited
* Tuning allowed (transmission etc..)
* Sports Soft tyres
* No wings

Why the DB9? For variety, and because it is related to the Z8 in that they share the same designer.
The DB9 is a monster of a car with it's 6L engine and it feels great to drive.

The race will be set to only 1 lap on the board, but in reality we will be racing for three laps and here is a tutorial how to;

I'm sure you recognized Manny's logo there at the beginning. He has been supporting the turnaround idea from the beginning and been a great help.

Here is his Youtube channel link for more great videos, also from his own Club here at GTPlanet;
MannYhAvitZ 👍👍

I have never seen anyone else try this idea before in my albeit relatively short time
online racing, so this will be very fun to try. And afterwards this idea can be expanded
to multiple different scenarios. Only our imaginations sets the boundaries.

*Will this work you ask?

Yes. :)
I tried it online before and the game mechanism allows for it.

The only one who won't like it is the chequered flag-marshall.
When we all turn around for the final lap he will already be standing there waving his flag
even though there is a good seven or eight minutes to go of the race.

It looks hilarious.

The Race Finish Delay will be set to maximum to allow everyone to finish the race.
The winner will probably have time for a cup of coffee before the race ends. :dopey:

Damage will be Light but all other settings will be set to Real.

Most important thing is to stay to the right when you get oncoming traffic.
The track map is a good visual aid but if you have that turned off be sure to
take extra care when approaching a blind turn.

And always stay to the right on the straights (unless you are about to perform a safe overtake of course).

*Note to remember

Even if you should have driving lines turned ON they won't work during Lap 2 (the "wrong way lap").

I will practice some more before the real event and when I do I'll post here in the thread.
If anyone does the same I'll try and join.

The race will be for Club Members only and not in the Open Lobby.

I'm sure I am forgetting something but if you have any questions do let us know.
