Turnaround race?

My experience is somewhat different than @gkgamer 's I used to run a weekly public lobby in the past. My experience was that having "CM" or "CS" somewhere in the title kept the dodgy guys off. My rooms were both PP limited as well as Stock...
Or maybe it was the "abs0"...:confused:

It may be that the grievers aim for rooms with more people. Makes sense with their lack of skill that makes hitting other cars easier
:mischievous:

My rooms rarely had more than 4 drivers maybe that is what kept the a***oles away.

As for the use of DS, ABS0 and brake balance helps. I haven't tried a wheel in ages but someone told me the controller handling is restricted. No matter how much you turn or how fast there is some weird stuff happening. Getting the rear just bit loose helps the turn in a great deal with the controller. Maybe the sensitivity settings help also, not exactly sure...

And about tuning, i have spent hours and I do not enjoy it and I suck at it. If someone can share a decent base setup I know how to adjust it to my driving style but other than that I am done with tuning, I am afraid...:boggled:

But, great races! I missed the first race. It looked very close from the spectator seat. The second and the bonus race were awesome. Almost threw the towel in there already after the first test lap but after adjusting my driving style and attitude it was loads of fun! Very happy I stayed :)

Edit: oh and that last car request: Silvia S13, I second that for sure. My touge tune. It may not be fast but it sure is fun :D

In case anyone fancied a go at it, the cars used in the 'SuperCars on Comfort Soft' race at Silverstone were;

Zonda C12S 00 (Nice balance)
Ferrari Enzo (Brutally fast, but a bit of a handful)
Aston One-77 (Brutally fast, but a lot of a handful)
LFA Nurb (Quick, but not my cup of tea)
Nissan GTR Black edition '12 (4WD traction, but a bit heavy)

There was a free choice of cars, which were all stock, and proved to be very evenly matched over all. We did 18 laps of the full circuit on normal depletion. It was a jolly good race and I would love to do it again once we have enough people who are sufficiently acclimatised to racing with disaster only a tiny twitch of the foot/thumb away.

Dusty won, you'll be surprised to hear.

Cheers, Zo.

Disconnection's / Exit's not included.

It got to be two races instead of three and a lot of fun to see all you guys again.

Someone in the lobby said race #2 was the best they had ever taken part in.
I can agree that the M3 on CS was an absolute pleasure to race, especially through turns 5-8
I think it was.

Some new drivers joined us as well and it felt like the racing was clean and fair,
I do rely on you regulars to mention if anybody is not driving fair.
They shouldn't be with us in this club.

suggestions

GSX-R
Honda NSX R 02

Cheers, Zo.
👍
Sorry for joining late yesterday.
aside from the several troll drivers doing reverse or going for takedowns on the people they can't follow, the last race (the only I could enter) was good fun.
You mean on other occasions, gk? As far as I know that didn't happen yesterday.
It was great seeing some new drivers join us and they seemed to race clean and fair to me.
It was only that one driver who practically stopped on track in the third race before DC'ing or
exiting the room. Other than that it felt like the races went smoothly.

I understand that most of you are really keen on racing cars with no tuning allowed but maybe we could alternate on a week to week basis
My idea was always to mix in both untuned races and tuned races. It would become stale
quite fast if we would strictly use the loaners for instance.

Also, I am a controller user most of the time when I race with you and I think the advantage of using a wheel is even more blatant when racing stock cars.
I don't know, gk.
I had a marvellous and enjoyable battle (which I won) with Gavin who is sitting in a
race seat with a wheel, and I use the DS3.
Maybe Gavin took it easy on me though. ;)

suggestions now:

*Car: Subaru BRZ / Toyota FT-86 / Scion FR-S
*Car: Any Impreza or Evo
*Car: Any Nissan Silvia S13
👍
Makes sense with their lack of skill that makes hitting other cars easier
I had the weak penalty option set for yesterday.
It's strange because the GT6 manual isn't telling the difference between weak and strong.
All it says is this;
Penalty
Define how severely penalties for collisions, leaving the course etc. will be judged. Penalized cars are temporarily unable to touch other cars, and will have their engine power limited. Penalized cars will appear semi-transparent to other cars.

sensitivity settings help also, not exactly sure
I keep mine on 7 and it always feels great that way no matter what car I drive.
Almost threw the towel in there already after the first test lap but after adjusting my driving style and attitude it was loads of fun! Very happy I stayed :)
I agree with you, as long as you didn't hammer the throttle down the car felt great to drive
at Brands.
Dusty won, you'll be surprised to hear.
I am not surprised at all.

It's great that some of you have made suggestions already. I will add them all into post #3
and try and incorporate them for some of the coming races.

Next Tuesday's races will be penned down soon and added to post #2.

I currently have a room open in the Club Lobby. At the moment it's the rental Ferrari 365 GTB4 '71 on comfort soft at Brands Hatch GP.

Boost off
Penalty weak
Tyre/Fuel normal
Grip real
Visible dm on
Mechanical dm light
Slipstream real
ABS and driving line

I should be able to join back in on the action this Tuesday. I was cottaging last Tuesday but wish I could've joined you. I've raced the M3 on CS tires before (the first time I ever encountered the magical dustybin actually...at spa in the rain) and it was super fun.

My girlfriend works at a used game/movie store so we pretty much can borrow anything we want anytime so I borrowed a 360 and Forza 4 the other day. I've never owned or really played Xbox before since I'm a Nintendo geek primarily and then a Playstation player when it comes to racing and third party stuff that didn't get released on Gamecube or Wii U. So I've never played Forza. And it's incredible how far ahead Forza 4 is of GT5 and GT6 in so many ways. Especially the car list, it's definitely quality over quantity. And the cornering feel, and the livery editor, and the AI, and the engine and drivetrain swaps. But GT6 is much better in various other ways like the track list, tuning, and weather, and the overall package. I've been a GT fan since the first one but it's been disconcerting how PD has kind of lost its way with GT5 and to a lesser extent GT6. I feel like GT7 won't be perfect either but eventually they might get their groove back and make another masterpiece like GT2.

But anyways, what I meant to say is I've been playing Forza 4 non-stop so it'll feel weird going back to GT6. Looking forward to seeing what car and track and tire combination you cook up.

My one demand is that are high powered rear wheel drive cars on comfort hard tires on Motegi Super Speedway at some point.

We share a similar story in some aspects, blue. :)

I also used to work in a game/video store. It was a great experience because most of the time I managed the place all by myself (it wasn't that big). I had the responsibility of closing up shop and putting the days profits in the safe or if it was too much go and drop it off at the bank.

We set the prices on used items ourselves so I bought many consoles for myself that I had growing up, for the price of a cup of coffee sometimes. :)
The NES, the SNES, Sega, N64 and others.

My journey started with Nintendo as well when me and my sister got the NES for christmas.
I haven't played Xbox either, I leave that to my brother.

I like your Motegi idea. For tomorrow though I have three races planned which I can post in detail when I get home today.
First off there's any Nissan road car with an FR drivetrain at Spa, tuning available, 450pp and comfort medium.

Second race will use Zolon's Suzuki suggestion at Deep Forest.

And the third race is meant to be the rental Ferrari at Sierra on softs.

Sounds like heaven Jocke 👍 Fifteen laps each race, of course. Very fast depletion.

Cheers, Zo.

I will make a note in the community too.

Second race will use Zolon's Suzuki suggestion at Deep Forest.
This is a great car suggestion, Zolon.
I tried it a few days ago at Deep Forest and it felt great.
My personal best after a few laps of trying;
1:29.470

Thanks Jocke, hopefully everyone will love it. It'll certainly be a bit more relaxing/easier to drive than the 450pp Nissans at Spa (not that I'm complaining). They feel fantastically slippery in the practice I've had, wonderful.

And the Ferrari (I'm assuming it's the 365GTB) can't do any wrong for me. I even raced it on SS tyres a few days ago and enjoyed it immensely.

Really, really looking forward to tonight.

Cheers, Zo.

The 365 is one of the better rental cars on comfort softs. Really nice feel to it even though first and second gear
can be a bit slow.
The BMW M3 and Honda Raybrig rentals also feel great on the softs.

Really, really looking forward to tonight.
Your enthusiasm is infectious. :)

I was cottaging last Tuesday
Was that in Windsor?

Cheers, Zo.
I hope Dusty will be with us today. You know Zolon, I finished second to Dusty at Motegi
in one of the Toyota races. I have promised myself I won't stop trying until the same thing happens again. :dopey:

About the voice chat, it would be fun to turn it back on but if it means
people are disconnecting more as a result it's just not worth it.
Have any of you raced recently with it turned on?
In Sick's races maybe?

Or maybe hell. :scared:

(Zolon) Your enthusiasm is infectious.
If there was a video feed we'd see him jumping up and down in joy.

Now probably that means something completely different over there to over here. :D

My girlfriend works at a used game/movie store so we pretty much can borrow anything we want anytime
You've got your life sorted out there. 👍

Lang may yer lum reek
I hope there's smoke coming from your chimney for a good while too BB.

About the voice chat
Why don't you turn it on but tell everyone to turn off/mute their mics during the races - unless they have to. Those that want can then chat in the lobby. It's OK for a championship but for a club it can get a bit sterile without the banter. You can also relay any club information that way too. Give it a try and if you get lots of problems...

I'm hoping to join in sometime tonight. Although I'm finding that just jumping in without practice on the slippery tyres a bit difficult.

I often race in a room with audio on, no DC issues really. It's ok when it's just a laugh, 5-6 minute races, change track, 5-6 mins again. More set/structured race meets it tends to distract me if I'm honest, and I need all the concentration I can get!

And to Gamers point, some folk may end up getting shouted at for being along side others, with no contact.

(replays don't lie GK)

I googled and now I know.

Good point made.

I won't switch on voice chat today. Some pondering needs to be done whether we do
it in future meets or not.

I meant to mention this previously and most probably already know, but be aware there was a GT6 update issued yesterday. If you haven't already updated it's 265 mb.

Didn't want it to catch anyone out at the last minute.

Hey Jocke and everyone who slipped and slid Nissans all over the Spa!!:D

Great fun racing. I had a much better race than I expected actually mixing it with @gkgamer and @cgg
Then just as I thought I might finish 5-6th place my Devil Z got me. :nervous:A fantastic 540 pirouette took me down to 10th. :boggled:

Excellent fun Jocke. Sorry I had to leave early but will try to join again over the next few weeks.

Cheers all.

Sorry for my going away during qualification. Wife urgently needed my assistance.

It was a matter of risking distracting and possibly ruining someones qualification lap by writing something to chat, or just quietly parking and hoping to make it to the race from the back of the grid. I had no idea people were planning a restart.

Good fun, catch you later!

It was a shame about the problems with the Suzukis, I couldn't get mine connection to work properly. I had great fun with the Nissan race and I think we should do that style of race again. I'm just disappointed in my self for ruining the gearbox seconds before the start of qualifying so my maximum speed was 111mph.

Thanks for the great race though!

Wasn't it the Z8 club where I always seemed to finish 4th in every single race? I thought that was going to continue yesterday except Gk had a bunch of issues with the Suzukis so I got 3rd. I agree with everyone that the same make/same drivetrain/tuning allowed idea was great and should happen often.
