Turnaround race?

  • Total voters

Anyway Infiniti was actually great fun but a bit slow.
Jocke we should have been draught ing each other to get ahead;)
I was surprised not only that we chose the same car but that we also
followed each other with the #'s. You being #88 and I #89. What are the odds
of that happening? I only chose #89 half an hour before the race. :)

I noticed bergele had put up his High Speed Ring car in the community.
It looks really nice;

I can't help but laugh/smile when I see Dusty's car for the night.
I didn't think anyone would pick that one.

Had fun at the high speed ring. Had a few cars tuned up, couple of BMW's and a few mazdas. MX5 seemed quick, but settled for the RX8 in the end. Seemed a good choice! Heart stopping spin on the last lap, but had enough of a gap to survive.

Enjoying the comfort club Jocke, another feather in your considerable cap.

great fun yesterday at High Speed Ring in a top-tier car... maybe the fastest, without a doubt the easiest.
I had prepared a few cars as well just to be sure not to ride the same machine as any of you guys.
The "BMWs"
image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
there was a Z4 as well
The "Matsudas"
image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg
The Cosmosport was indeed the fastest but it was impossible to race it with my skills, I'd have chosen it for a hot lap challenge but there are very few possibilities for altering a line once you are entering a corner. At first I thought about racing it but struggling not to be an obstacle to cars already warming up when I entered the track made me change my mind.

Great sportsmanship shown by @Sutsagrd yesterday in his battle with bergele. I was right
there behind them.

gk, this is the best photo I've seen in a long time;
image-jpg.387534

I like it a lot ^

49-1 roughly, with some assumptions. 👍
But you also need to factor in that suts and I had picked the same car out of roughly thirty different ones.
That combined with the numbers should make the odds even greater.

The Air challenge
Dusty, what are you doing.

Guys, bergele has updated his Club;
premium.jpg

It's a clever idea and one that I haven't seen anyone else try yet. Strictly premium cars on the premium tracks.
👍

What should we do now with bb? Ever since he purchased that wheel of his
he's only gotten faster and more consistent. Both here and with Sick.
This can not be allowed to go on. :)
Seriously though, impressive driving Colin.

I will post the results Thursday.

Thanks @JockeP22 👍

The club house is going through some renovations and I believe I changed it to private until everything is set up. In the meantime PM me if you are interested and have free club slot in the community :)

That was remarkable as I only just bought that car 1 hr prior to the race too. :boggled:
88 is the number I've used since my first online race with @Sick Cylinder.

Thanks but I did tap bergele off as I thought I had the corner then slid into him and caused him to loose 3 places :dunce: so it was only fair I gave the place back 👍 I had good fun trying to get it back though:lol:

Excellent photos @gkgamer

PM me if you are interested
No need for me, I joined in November already. :D

I took gk's original photo above and made several alterations to it
because I liked it so much. I think I made five new versions. Here's one of them;
gkphoto1.jpg

I didn't find the time yesterday to post up the results from Tuesday, but I'll do that today
as well as change the race set-up from three races to two...

A few more pics from High Speed Ring

Overtaking cg in a surprisingly well executed move just to lose the position again in the next corner going sideways...Very nice and FairPlay courtesy spin by cg to allow Zo and I to finish on the podium. My defensive side skills are nowhere close to cg's.

Nice write up GK. We had a great battle, and you deserved to beat me. I had no choice but to slide through the S-bend, I was just so slow compared to everyone else haha. If you're like me, you need to defend well, because I'll make a good start, then make lots of mistakes!

Thanks for the races!

Hi guys,
Post #2 has been updated for Tuesday.

fool%20in%20the%20rain_zpsozwiae9l.jpg~original

After you have read post #2 I'd just like to add that I've been looking forward to this
Autozam race for a long time. It's been an idea of IfAndOr's since 2014 to make a race of the Autozam's
but the opportunity has never come about until now. He deserves all the credit for bringing this little
car to my attention.

It has a few cool features in the Custom Parts section, like wings/spoilers and such. 👍

*Changes to the Club
From now on there will only be two races per meeting, but they
have been increased in length from fifteen to twenty minutes.
I always want to have a qualifying session and three in one night
(as it has been thus far) might be a bit too much.

I don't particularly enjoy the reversed grids or grids based on previous
race results, so qualifying will always remain.

Another change is to the tyre/fuel setting. Previously we have had the consumption
set to Fast, but the difference as compared to Normal is hardly noticeable so from now on it will
be set to Very Fast. Just to make it an extra challenge in the races.

That's about it I think. :)

that rarely gets any attention.

Bye for now, guys..

Great photos again, gk 👍

It's been an idea of IfAndOr's since 2014 to make a race of the Autozam's
I've had an AZ-1 in my GT6 garage forever since it's one of my dream cars in real life, but don't think I've ever used it. At last the time has come.
I was originally thinking of starting a Nitro Kei Car Club which would have included the AZ-1, Copen and Cappuccino. It's never quite got off the ground though. One of these days I might revisit the idea since they are fun little cars to throw around the track.

Thanks JP for giving the Autozam a run out. 👍 An interesting car - mid engined, gull wing doors and 3 cylinders.

Perhaps we ought to name the lobby 'IfAndBlue'. :)

Do it, Paul. Do it. :)

Only my opinion but I think the Autozam looks much, much more exciting than the Copen and Cappuccino together. :dopey:
Nitro Kei Car Club
I was considering allowing nitro for the Autozam race on Tuesday but I didn't know
what everyone's stance is on it's use. Hence the newly created poll at the top ^

I had gorgeous weather today and took the bike to work, shot some photos on
the way home;

1. This is where the King lives. No not Dusty, the King of Sweden.

4. Downtown Stockholm (we don't have that many tall buildings or sky scrapers).
Just to the right is where I will go see Robert Plant next month. :)

5. My street.

^ Well I understood the word Cappuccino. That was about it though. @gkgamer - help.
Briefly, did they like it? It looks like they were having fun.

here we go:

First they go for an extensive description of the car specs and unique special features. They notice it has seen very few changes since the concept car presentation at the TMS the previous year. They also notice it is surprisingly only 20kg heavier than the Cappuccino in spite of an all-steel monocoque chassis. They conclude their presentation praising Mazda's quality of work when they get "seriously" into a given project.

Around 1'35" the "Winding Impression" testing section opens with Keiichi Tsuchiya immediately emphasising how fast and quick the general impression is. He follows by taming his enthusiasm, noticing how deep the front goes on corner entry.
He seems to be a bit surprised if not annoyed at first by the very soft feeling of the front train upon entry.
He then tries to show what he is experiencing with sharp steering inputs while the AZ is facing the camera.
He adds that it gives him the feeling than the rear train is going to make its way up to the front, thing that he never experienced in the Cappuccino.
He thinks that this behavior in early cornering is a bit scary and may require some time for new owners to get acquainted with.
He ends up saying that the ride comfort and quality is superior in the Suzuki and that the suspensions are better suited for street/road use, leaving him with a "right" stiffness impression throughout corners.
He then praises the responsiveness of the AZ-1's engine when going over a small gap over a crest saying the mid-mounted engine and its wide power band do not remind him of any other Kei car but rather sports and hi-perf cars.
Going through the woods, he now reviews his first softness impression and seems to be amazed by the front train grip.
In the end it reminds him of the Silvia which is famously known for giving a very safe driving feeling to the pilot.
He says it feels like the front tires are holding the car and he also seems very happy with the grip feedback and informations he gets through the steering wheel once the front train has reached its lower level. He goes on showing that the AZ is very permissive and forgiving with quick and harsh steering inputs unlike any other mid-mounted engine RWD car.
He then explains that the soft front suspension setting may be the consequence of an intent to make the car able to be driven by people not used to the delicate nature of the MR cars.
He concludes by saying this car is a blast in all aspects and he calls a "ni-juu maru" on it; -which means double concentric circle ◎ -which is the highest grade in this strange notation system that goes ×, △,◯,◎ from bottom to top.

I'll follow up with the race report after dinner.
Edit: congratulations to @Aaroh007 for his drivers' title in the ATCC. Masala Tsunami Racing ftw

Wow GK, great translation write up. Very interesting. 👍

Well PD have got that correct then. :)

Enjoy your dinner. I must go and think about making some myself.

I think that bike would run circles round the Autozam even with Nitro!
You may be right, I have had that bike for four years now and it's nice to ride.
My previous one was a Yamaha too, a much older 900cc.
If someone wanted to trade me a mint condition dark orange Autozam for it though,
I wouldn't say no. :)

According to wikipedia only 4,392 AZ-1's were ever produced.

Nitroes eh? Have to figure out how to bind it to DS3, that's all
I use it on L2, it feels best for me.
Just to clarify there won't be nitro this Tuesday. The poll is merely for future reference. :)

My spruced up 'Zam.
That looks like Wheeler's color. 👍
My 'Zam..
Seems most are going with a carbon hood.

bike to work
My street
Would love to see you guys' rides and neighbourhoods. Especially interested in the architecture
of your neighbourhood, gk. I bet it's very pretty.
Any recent photos of 'Alice', Wayne?

Here's the AZ-1 next to another car I like a lot, the DeLorean.
john-and-his-little-brother.jpg

I raced with gk in his daily 430 pp / SH-lobby yesterday and later on joined Gavin and Dusty in
a public Senna Lotus-lobby at Spa and Suzuka.
It made me realize what a great bunch of drivers we have here and in Sick's club and some others.
Random drivers in open lobbies are obnoxious, unfriendly and downright rude to each other in text
speech and on-track behaviour.

Not here though. The friendly atmosphere is really special around these parts of the forum and
that feels encouraging.

Dusty, by the way. Race #1 at Spa he had to pit for damage and still finished on the podium even though he
was miles behind the rest. And the race was only for seven laps!

Race #2 was at Suzuka and again he suffered heavy damage (right and left front), this time he didn't pit but kept
on going and very nearly finished 2nd!
Gavin won it.

Both races saw ~10 participants.

Had a play with the Zam yesterday, bit of a handfull! A good diff set up really helps, despite the low power, and also noticed the benefit of keeping some gas on whilst braking to steady the car - something I am trying to do more of, but keep forgetting lol. This could bizarrely be the toughest race for me yet - good choice!

I've had the spanners out de-carbon'd mine since that picture.

Yes it is for such a small and low(ish) powered car. The rear end is very friendly with the front, it does like to go and visit quite often.

@Sutsagrd seems to have a good setup. Me and Jocke couldn't match his times last night. He could be the one too watch. :)

I agree completely. In the forum there's lots of friendly banter and in the races lots of respect for the other drivers. You do seem too have attracted a good bunch of regulars Jocke. 👍
Or is it followers - the cult of Jocke. :sly:

I can feel the love from here - which is usually from somewhere near the back of the pack. So up the front it must be really friendly.

It's best not too take GT6 too seriously I find. ;)

Yep. It was too good to be true!!!
I got a little help from being stupid.
Like an idiot I was practicing on the wrong tyres!!! :banghead::dunce::embarrassed:
I changed them to SH as I was going to try it out on gkgamer's room and forgot to change them back.
I'm back to normal mortal times on CS. Can't get under 1:30
Sorry guys. @IfAndOr @JockeP22
You can watch me pirouetting at the back :cheers:
