Turnaround race?

Hello guys,
thanks for the positive feedback. Spa was good fun.

You know, I was just thinking now that we run a 'comfort tyres club' how
ironic this post has become. :embarrassed:

About yesterday and last week as well.
I wanted to try and have the lobby public just to see if the next Dusty was out
there somewhere.

But I think it will be best to keep the lobbies open
for members only in the future and leave out those people who enters
the room only to call us clowns.

It could help out with the lobby online stability too.

The club has always been public though and that won't change.

Wasn't it the Z8 club where I always seemed to finish 4th in every single race?
I remember this;

cgg
I think we should do that style of race again
should happen often
tuning is preferable for me
Yes the idea was always to do races with tuning and races without. 👍

From the lobby chat;
What a bunch of nerds we are.

Regarding the 'Clowns' comment......

I can't begin to tell you how hurt I was by the cutting wit of Mr Evil. But then I thought to myself, 'hang on a minute, this guy calls himself Evil, and the most diabolical thing he can think of is to call us Clowns'.

I don't mind telling you, it came as a great relief to me that Mr Evil didn't bring down upon us the true might of the megalomaniac world he undoubtedly commands, from the small bedroom in his mum's house.

Cheers, a very relieved Zo.

As a Kid "IT" gave me nightmares!! :nervous::(
Manny since we're the same age we probably saw IT around the same time as kids. :)

Are you sure you want to be Pennywise?
He is just misunderstood, if you only give him a chance you will see he is a really friendly guy.

What's on the menu for Tuesday Jocke? Probably have to leave after the starter, wont have time for the main course or dessert.
Thanks Colin.

Post #2 has been updated for this coming Tuesday.

I would be glad if you all wanted to share your thoughts on this tune.
Could it be something worth trying here in the Club and make a race of it?

Maybe, perhaps, possibly, hopefully. :)

A chap at the Grumpy British Racer's Club tried getting this off the ground a long time ago Jocke. I joined him in testing of it one night and I couldn't believe how good the cars were. I'm right up for it, maybe with a bit of weather too, the comfort tyres shift water very well.

Cheers, Zo.

If I may, what about a longer race allowing SH tires since their lower grip in wet condition would allow some gamble on tire choice and pit strategy...
even though we are the comfort club...
moreover, what car do you think the faster guys will bring to the first race on Tuesday night?
Will it be a massive RX-500? Will someone go for the top speed of the L10s?
Or will it be the safer RX-8s in spite of them being grippy but rather slow in the straights?
I cannot see anyone going for the BMWs except maybe the M ZCoupes?
As of Infinity, they are the underdogs imo except if the concepts are allowed. In that case, the FX-45 may be the only real contestant to the concept RX-8s.

Coincidentally Gamer, I have recently done some testing for a potential dry/wet race with the Ferrari 458 stock using S/H tyres. For no better reason than I like it I picked the Willow Springs wiggly track to do the testing. With the surface at 100% wet C/S tyres were seventeen seconds, yes, seventeen seconds a lap faster than S/H. I think that a race of perhaps an hour duration, with unpredictable weather and fast or very fast degradation and a max of S/H tyres would be splendid.

I haven't got a clue what I'll go for on Tuesday. I'm going to try to pick something no one else has though.

Cheers, Zo.

Great to hear your thoughts Zolon/gk ^.

Together we might be able to cook up something good. :)

edit:
If the concepts are made for the road
then they should be ok to pick for the race. I will go Infiniti.

I'd love to elaborate on a few things but I'm only able to use the phone for most of the day, much like I was yesterday. Typing with it is highly annoying at the best of times.

Well for a change, I've gone for something more economical. I might even be towing a caravan.

Did you know there is a race at Ascari this evening Zo? ;)
Actually I haven't been around there for awhile, so I'll probably be all over the place. No different to normal then. :)

Yes I drove the FGT at the old Suzuka layout with the same settings as in the Brands Hatch tune;
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/tunes/formula-gran-turismo-on-comfort-softs.1571/
It felt terrific and perhaps it shouldn't on those tyres (CS) with 738 PP / 467 HP, but it does.
Top speed was 280km/h and I got it down to 1:54.131
It's like driving a Formula Renault 3.5 :)

All I did to it was to enforce a strong power limit and maximum weight ballast (at 0%) along
with increased downforce and ride height.
It actually feels quite stable and manageable, and it's still fast enough to enjoy the ride I think.

Wet driving didn't even occur to me but I'd quite like to try it now. gk would know the best weather settings
if we make a race of it in the future.

Your car knowledge is second to none, gk. :)
I don't think I know half as much as you do about all the makes and models.

I will go Infiniti.
Or maybe I'll pick the BMW 507, it was a long time ago I drove that.
I don't know what day it is most of the time. :boggled:
:)
I'll be in a 90's RX-7
I thought you would pick the Z8. :)

I'm thinking of choosing the Autozam on CS for next Tuesday (the 16th) with a limit on PP
and tuning available. IfAndOr/Paul knows more about this car than anyone I know here
so I have looked to him for guidance. :dopey:

Not sure about the use of sport compounds. Might be better to adapt the set-up
for the CS's (on whatever car we're talking about).

I tend to agree Jocke. Comfort Club is Comfort Club. However, the offset in speeds between the S/H and C/S in favour of S/H in the dry and then C/S in the wet make them a fascinating choice for a dry/wet race. I'll have to resurrect the rain club and see what I can arrange.

Cheers, Zo.

My golden RUF is still on stand-by and ready for action. 👍

I remembered some Merc comments from long ago here in the club and
found them on page 20;

gotta say I'd prefer a big shouty V8 Mercedes though! C 63 AMG is hilarious to drive.
lb, if you ever want a partner to hoon around in a full house C63 (circa 900BHP) on C/H tyres, I'm your man, I love that motor. Unfortunately I don't get to race it much because it's not competitive at any PP or BHP against M3s etc.

This could be something for a future Tuesday. What Merc is it exactly, Zolon? :)

My turbo diesel BMW is sort of ready. It may not have a great amount of power but it pulls like a locomotive. I may just stay in top gear. :)

The Suzuki around Ascari - well I'm not expecting to be very near the front! I think I may spend more time keeping it pointed in the right direction than racing.

And I haven't tried the Ferrari at all (well not recently).

Great racing as always Jocke and CC guys.

I had tuned up a Mazda MX5, a Beemer and the Infiniti. But I was testing on the wrong track :banghead: Anyway Infiniti was actually great fun but a bit slow.
Jocke we should have been draught ing each other to get ahead;)

The GSX was excellent and I was even following @Dustybin for a lap until he went up to mad fast gear:bowdown:
Shame @IfAndOr and @Zolon32 weren't able to finish the race.

By the way I have a fully tuned yellowbird RUF CTR and blackbird RUF BTR as well as a pink C63 AMG which I can't keep on a straight line:eek: Happy to try those but it will be carnage:lol:

Looking forward to next week
