Turnaround race?

Hi comfort clubbers

Have work pressures and family over this week. I doubt I'll be racing online at all this week.
Have fun.
I on the other hand got the chance to try out the Audi TT earlier today
in gkgamer's daily 430pp/SH-lobby. It's a great handling car and I like the design.

Senna's F3 ain't too bad either.
Next week there might be some changes coming. :)
See you suts

Once again really enjoyed tonights racing thanks again Jocke.

Well done to Dusty on winning both races brilliant pace and really enjoyed our battle in race one. Race two was fun but just couldn't get by you Zolon but it was fun trying.

Must say after having raced in GBRC since the beginning it's nice to join in with another good bunch of clean drivers and look forward to many more races, thanks for introducing me Zolon

Cheers

It's my pleasure Coke, just wish I'd been able to stay with you and Dusty in the first race, and wish I'd been able to sort out my braking points for the second. Racing brakes don't half snatch on comfort tyres, especially when you can't get the damn things to warm up! That Senna F3 is a belting motor though. Senna F1 is a laugh on comforts too, mind.

Next week there might be some changes coming. :)

Oooooooooooh! I'll look forward to that.

Cheers, Zo.

My return to GT6 after 9 or 10 days started slowly but I enjoyed Comfort Club as always. :)

On Monday, I got my login bonus back to 200% by taking the time zone tour of the XMB. ;)
I started to catch up on the seasonal events but it was clear that I was very rusty. I also saw that Jocke was in a test lobby & thought "I must look up the next cars for comfort club, that's on tomorrow." I wasn't feeling too well though, which I realised at the first corner of Sierra in a 700pp monster.
"No problem then, I can get back to it tomorrow."

And so we come to race day.

My original thoughts were that I would be on GT6 for some of the day & I could perhaps get a little prepared. I think I came on with around 40 minutes to spare. :scared:

Loading the game, eating a plate of reheated curry, looking up the schedule, ignoring phonecalls. That's how GT'ers multitask.

I saw Senna F3. I love that car but had no idea how it would drive on comforts, "have faith in Jocke", I thought. He says every car in the game will be fine.
I checked my settings, 3 tunes on A, B & C.
No problem:
  • Grind one race to get up to 1 million credits (I'm unusually low)
  • Backup game save to USB
  • Buy a new "stock" Senna F3
  • Change oil
  • Buy Comfort tyres
  • Race in Comfort Club
  • Restore the game save where I have 1 million credits & only 1 Senna F3
The Audi was cheaper so I did a similar thing (plus I gave it the old #37 treatment) but didn't bother about which side of the game save it went on.

I now knew that I had the cars ready & I joined the lobby.

Race 1
Three way dance at the back with @JockeP22 & @IfAndOr. It felt more like formation driving than racing for most of the race. Undoubtedly we slowed each other down at times but hopefully they enjoyed it too, I did. :)

Race 2
I don't think I binned it at any point which is all I hoped for after my severe non-practice. I was also being asked an Internet quiz by someone sitting behind me, so concentration was split. :)

I had a great time as always.

P.S. Dusty was on good form!

P.P.S Here's a photo I took while I was absent from GT6 & sitting in a Comfortable seat, at a Club.
I don't really support any particular football team but I had some time to kill so I went to Celtic v Inverness CT on Saturday. It was the first game I'd been to in a while & my first time at a Scottish game.
It was Celtic's 2,500th league win. They are the 2nd Scottish club to reach that landmark.

Celtic won 4-2

Tl;dr
It was nice to be back.
P.S. Something about Dusty & football.

Next week there might be some changes coming.
Oooooooooooh! I'll look forward to that.
I thought you'd like it Zo, it's race soft tyres next week. :mischievous:

Nice write up @M_Mallet_Jr 👍
It was good fun for awhile at the back of the pack. I wished I'd dropped out and done the oil change on the F3, it left me pushing it a bit hard to keep up. I'd never driven the Audi before and should have spent more time setting the brakes up, every time I touched the brake the back end wanted to be in front!

I always forget you can adjust the brake balance when tuning isn't allowed. :dunce:
I'd have preferred the back end to swing around more!

really enjoyed tonights racing
Nice words, coke. :)
Yeah I had tested much faster cars in the days leading up to Tuesday so the Audi felt like it was standing still in the bends. Still fun though.
I'll look forward to that.
Nothing major, just that next week there'll be some rally cars in the comfort club. And I'd like to start off a new series as well. Feels like time's running out for GT6.

Very much so, Mallet.
I couldn't care less about positions when we go like we did at the Nurburgring. You on the inside at one turn, and vice versa at the next. With Paul watching from behind.
Very enjoyable.

Spa was much the same. Though I was the watcher there, looking on as you and Paul were neck and neck for a number of laps. I bided my time and waited for an opening which eventually came. Move of the month for me. :)

P.S. Dusty was on good form!
Yeah. I'll be looking up that Boomtown festival thing-y as soon as I get home later today.

Found a new way of multi-quoting on the phone by the way.

Celtic. That's where Henke Larsson played didn't he?
I think he scored 200 goals or some ridiculous amount anyway.

don't you call him Henrik in Sweden? And he was the last great player for the Celtic imo. Even though Japanese people would like to see Shunsuke Nakamura up there with him, he is at best a few levels lower on the celtic legends' ladder.

You should have said, you could have had some of my swing. You'd have been welcome to it. :D

Feels like time's running out for GT6
If it wasn't for the enjoyment of the online racing, it probably would have ran out awhile ago. Let's hope the course maker adds a bit more spice to it when it comes - soon!

@gkgamer talking about Celtic! Well that's unexpected. :)

With Paul watching from behind. Very enjoyable.
Sounds kinky. You'll have people talking.

don't you call him Henrik in Sweden?
Media and fans alike call him Henke.
It is very common to add an 'e' at the end of a nickname and people go by their nicknames more often than not. Much like Jocke. ;)

Henrik>Henke, Ulf>Uffe, Nils>Nisse, Christian>Chrille, Per>Pelle, Nicklas>Nicke, Leif>Leffe, Anton>Ante, Bengt>Benke, Bo>Bosse, Daniel>Danne, Hans>Hasse, Jonathan>Jonte, Magnus>Mange, Mathias>Matte
I can go on forever. :)

I haven't watched Tuesday's replays but I just remembered something from the first lap with the F3's.

@Rickrmtskingdom brilliantly squeezed by me on the outside entering Eau Rouge. I panicked a little and didn't know where to go, but it all went fine. I've only ever seen Mark Webber pull a move like that before, Rick. 👍

Due to PD,s FFB implementation, my poor old gear driven G27 rattles and bangs about something terrible on the gravel.
You can minimize the rattle effect by using FF max. torque 1 and FF sensitivity 10. This dials down the gravel force feedback, but leaves the cornering feedback intact. Works best on snow, on gravel you will still get the rattle, but not so pronounced.

I feel your pain Paul, my G25 goes absolutely berserk on gravel tracks. I must be a bit of a masochist, because I quite like it once in a while. Couldn't do it for long, the damn thing would blow up!

Jocke, are we allowed to use two cars for the two races, or must it be the same for both? I don't want to give anyone the impression that I've been doing tons of track specific testing, I haven't gone on either of them yet, but thought it was a matter worth sorting before the meeting.

Cheers, Zo.

Absolutely.
I think I'll post some pictures of mine later tonight.
At first glance I thought that was Bill Hicks.
I've seen some of his stand-up acts.
He was a funny guy with some dark humour thrown in to the mix.
I could be wrong but I don't think that trick works online.
I couldn't even get that trick to work offline, let alone online.
Thanks though @tarnheld
I think I'll give the off-road event a miss.

Yes I remember when you first mentioned the force feedback issue way back in December or January. That time when you, me and Smiley practiced around Toscana. :)

I'd forgotten about that! @SmileyWRX come on back.:dopey:

I'm going to give try @tarnheld 's settings a go later and if successful I'll probably join in the event. Or maybe just unplug the wheel! I need to get the car(s) sorted out anyway.

Well I tried @tarnheld 's suggested settings and they did certainly help, but the wheel still had quite a lot clonking going on. So I tried my old DFGT trick and unplugged the power supply. No force feedback of course but also no rattling either. The free spinning of the wheel I find actually helps on the gravel. My lap times improved greatly. :)

I'm going for the same Scooby in both races. I've been practising at Matterhorn and got my braking and turning sorted out, but have now just realised that you've got it set for some rain. :guilty:
Back to the drawing board! (Or I might just see how it goes in the race)

Are you using nice comfy suspension Paul? I've got a 206 up on tiptoes and very soft. The G25 is barely rattling at all, in fact I thought PD must have changed the settings, it's really very much different from how it used to be. I think I have torque at 2 and feedback at 10.

Cheers, Zo.

I never tune or add anything these days - not that I ever knew what I was doing. Just a tweak of the brake bias and off I go. But it makes sense that a softer suspension would help.

I usually have my wheel set at torque 3 and feedback 4/5, so it's fairly light anyway. My unplugging trick just makes it very light.

The weather setting I chose is mostly for the visual effect. I found that the difference compared to a dry track was negligible. It is a bit more slippery and one might have to be careful in the exits of corners, but overall the feeling is good.
Matterhorn Riffelsee has got one of the more stunning backdrops in the game. Really beautiful scenery there and the track layout appeals to me.
not that I ever knew what I was doing.
