Turnaround race?

Greetings gentlemen, the wife's got her book club tomorrow night (Friday 31st) and that means one thing.....GT6.

I'll be practicing with both the Carlton and R/B from about 7.30pm BST (GMT+1), should anyone wish to join me. I'll probably be running an open public room to be honest. Anyone who comes in for a look when the regs are minimal assists and C/S tyres may well be a decent sort.

Cheers, Zo.

I will join you tomorrow, Zo.

I was thinking of doing the same myself Zo, so I'll probably join you at some point.
: )
After Eights are good, I have them sometimes.

I'm looking forward to the Red Bull jr. race. That is a car I haven't raced for
nearly a year. The sound from the engine is ace both on idle, shifting gears and going
down the straight. And it handles well.

In fact the RB jr. was the first car I won an online race with (a few months before
finding my way to GTPlanet). It was a race at Monaco against a mixed field and I
was in sixth place after the first corner going up the hill.

Overtook them one by one and won the race
in the end. :)

I hosted many RB jr. lobbies for a period of time last summer. Great little car.
It was fitted with race softs that time at Monaco (which sounds sacrilege now!),
but even on comfort softs it has a nice feeling. The grip can get away from you
at times but overall it's good.

I took the Carlton out for a lap or two earlier;

I had it painted in K2RED from a suggestion made by Wayne/Wheeler here;

Here is a repeat of the settings for the two races on Tuesday.
(unless Paul says otherwise?)

Lotus Carlton - 500pp - Comfort Softs
The morning event - 20 minutes

Apricot Hill: Forward
Start time: 06:10
Time progression: 7
Qualifying: 6 minutes
Tyre/Fuel: Fast

Red Bull jr. - Stock & Oil - Comfort Softs
The evening event - 20 minutes

Apricot Hill reverse
Start time: 17:20
Time progression: 5
Qualifying: 6 minutes
Tyre/Fuel: Fast

The Weather at 0 (fixed) for both to get a nice sunrise and sunset.

Grip / Slipstream: Real
Boost: Off
Damage: Light
Penalties: Weak
Aids: Driving Line & ABS

Anyone got a good setup for the Lotus Carlton? Save me digging around.
buybon would be your best bet. I'm sure he has the winning formula.

I myself have this theory that installing the Z8 set-up straight into the Carlton could work.
I plan on trying it tomorrow in Zolon's lobby. :dopey:

I'm in sunny blackpool right now, but will post my set up when I get back to civilisation. It is still very sideways much of the time but great fun. Made a new friend who joined me in my test room last earlier in the week and have invited him to the event. He kicked my butt big time!

Hi chaps, good to see M1k is back. I can't make 7th, but I'm itching to get into his 'tight-as-you-like' racing again.

Sorry for nicking the thread temporarily Jocke, but I'm sure you'll concur; groups are folding, or losing members really badly recently and the GBRC is no exception. They're a great bunch of guys who I started my online racing through. They are holding an evening of quick-fire casual races starting at 7.30pm BST tonight using the Alpine 110 '72 with a modest tune on S/H tyres. The club number is 1006473 should anyone like to support them, Coke, who's running it, is as nice a fella as you could ever like to meet.

Cheers, Zo. (Sorry again, Jocke. But it's for a good cause.)

bb, you just upset 142,065 people by calling their town uncivilized.

only ever shared one tune before, my Z8 with jocke
And that tune was great. 👍

Sorry again, Jocke. But it's for a good cause
Of course, Zo. 👍

I had a fun experimental race with gk and Paul (If) a few days ago.

Nordschleife (24h layout) - 2 laps
Honda Raybrig's (one-make loaner/rental)
Comfort soft tyres
Very fast tyre / fuel depletion
Sunset - Dry

with otherwise realistic settings like boost off, no aids and
real grip & slipstream.

gk ran out of fuel on the Antoniusbuche straight on the last lap, I ran out after the
last turn at Tiergarten just coming out onto the start / finish straight and Paul
had just enough to last him until the chequered flag (I think).

I never saved the replay but it was an enjoyable race. The Raybrig felt excellent stock on CS.
What did you think, gk & Paul?

That's the HSV right? I've been wanting to drive the HSV on CS (or anything less than RS really) the whole time I've been doing my Monday stock HSV series. Just PLEASE don't have the race on anything starting with Nurb and ending with Ring so I can actually have a chance, if you're doing it. The race this week in the series was on Nurb 24h and I just finished it, 11th out of 13 (the other two guys quit). I was running 8th before I had a catastrophic crash just past halfway though. My fastest lap was slightly under 20 seconds slower than the FL of the race haha.

At last! Someone (apart from Niki Lauda), who shares my view on the narrow strip of tarmac between the trees. Now all I need is to find someone who loves Sierra like I do..................

The Raybrig felt excellent stock on CS.

I'm right up for racing that on comforts, but Nurb is a bit bumpy (and garbage) for stock racers in my humble opinion.

For what it's worth chaps, it seems to me that installing body reinforcement (or whatever it's called) gives the Carlton traction that the weedy bodied version can only dream of, a good 0.5 second advantage. For those who want to try it.

Cheers, Zo.

Thanks for letting me take part tonight fellas.

Was an enjoyable nights racing and thanks for the heads-up @Zolon32
I also wanted to thank you all for letting me join tonight and thanks Zolon for suggesting it to me was certainly good fun Look forward to next week.
Cheers Jocke
Thanks gents. It was fun. : )

I must take a picture of my RB jr., frame it and hang it on the wall.
The Carlton however.. well. I've done this to mine;

Sorry bb. :)

Lol jocke, I'm the opposite way round. Didn't like the Red bull much, although it must be said I think the grip levels suited it perfectly. Had a great race in the Carlton, some really close and clean racing, not always easy when you're chasing the throttle all the time in these bonkers cars. Thanks for taking up my suggestion too. Was also great to see some new names. Well done to numbnuts who delivered some awesome lap times to get a well deserved win.

It's great that you could make it fellas (although that's not what was at the forefront of my mind on the last lap of the R/B race. Dammit!) and not only because of that brilliant 'wing nuts' joke. GBRC and Jocke's projects do seem to appeal to similar types of chap.

Here's to the next time we shred rubber, cheers, Zo.

Edit..... I've just noticed that Harsk has suggested racing using the same car you were using on Sunday Coke, the Alpine '72. Man, it's a belter, I second that nomination 👍
