Round 1-(The Duel)-Thanks Thrash!

Next Season:
Make each season a 4 race season.
At the end of the season:
1st place-Picks car for the next season
2nd thru 5th-picks tracks for the next season.

Hahah anytime I like the names the duel and the feature. It just fit. And I like that more so everything is rounded top 5s but then on the other hand I feel like the season is too short with 4 races. Or we could just change the prize spots every month. So lets say there is 4 Saturdays next month, 2nd - 5th pick the tracks. Then after that the next month has 5 Saturdays, 2nd through 6th can pick. That way it's a different season every month. I feel like it will be easier for newer people to know but then again I like everything as is now. I'm on the fence

Trial Mtn tonight.:)

Indy Road next Sat.

Join us tonight.

Trial Mtn reverse is one of my worst tracks - always hitting the dang mountains, but I since I don't get a chance to race often anymore, Mission Control has granted permission for a landing.

I'll be missing the first race and maybe the second. Depends on the curling.

What time-ish will the second race start?

10:43 EST
ish..

Thanks kendawg, will post when I know for sure.

Edit: Newfoundland doesn't look good tonight. Will catch the highlites on Sports Center.

See you in a bit.

What happened?

I'm not sure, but I bailed for a couple of reasons, first my patience was worn thin, after driving myself into the mountain half a dozen times and being punted into it or divebombed another have a dozen times, without concession (except for Ap), I'd had enough.

That was without a doubt one of the worst exhibitions of Racecraft I've seen in S.N.A.I.L.

Some serious patience, car control and observing of the S.N.A.I.L. OLR is needed.

I don't think boost is my cup of tea. That was a very strange experience. Pulled over and waved the white flag. I think lag was a huge issue for race craft.

I totally agree with you.
I think it was mainly the full room and people that haven't raced in SPEC. That is a tight track, with not alot of places to pass, but be that as it may, guys, patience, patience, patience. There's alot of laps. We've all raced these tracks and should know by now where its safe to pass and all the braking points!

Normally, you know, its not like that.:)

Everyone who came out this week should definitely give it a chance at Indy. This was a narrow track which made it seem worse, but with a wider course such as Indy it will be better. Usually it's not that bad. Again, sorry to everyone who I hit to tonight and a good race everyone. Just disappointed I wrecked myself out of a top 5 finish on the last lap again. Next week going to my favorite track hopefully will be better.

I know it's not usually like that. Contact will happen, but when people just drive off into the sunset, that's not acceptable. Take some ownership for the mistake you made.

And I'm not just talking about what happened to me, I witnessed a lot of it happening in front of me too.

This can be an awesome series, that will help everyone with driving in traffic, learning how to brake early, catch up under braking and pass when it's appropriate. But when it's treated like a Need For Speed game, everything goes out the window. It's hang on she's going to be a rough one.

I know S.N.A.I.L.s can drive with respect, I've seen it 👍

I agree with you.

While I never would have had a second place finish in the last race I really can't handle boost. It was nice to be in a close race pretty much all night, but a pass didn't really mean anything. If you pass someone you know that you just "made" them faster, so you have to watch your back again. The tight groups caused more problems and collisions, most likely, as it was often a three or four person battle instead of one on one.

I couldn't count how many times I was divebombed, put into a wall or nearly so. I nearly gave up after the first 10 or so laps of the second race, but thankfully things seemed to get better after that.

Furthermore, I think the boost takes all strategy out of tire selection and pitting. You could pit four times and catch right up to the leader who may have only pitted twice. There's no benefit to running on hards last to try to stay on the track longer, because with boost you'll have someone on your tail no matter what.

Ah, well. Boost keeps people in the thick of things which probably helps with retention during a long race like that, but it's just too weird for me.

Yeah it was almost comical, and definitely strange. Don't know that I can get that upset for all the times I got wrecked by someone because they were probably boosted right up to me and decided to keep going. I found I had to be on the brakes a lot more than normal to keep from crashing into drivers ahead. Just weird man.

Plus the room was lagging. Does the extra resources required to run boost contribute to lag? I'm thinking it's a big yes.

Think I'm going to chime in on the boost thing as well.

While the racing tonight was the most intense I've experienced yet, I'm not really all that fond of the boost option. It does a great job of throwing people together for battling it out but;

I don't mind someone faster than me getting by and getting away. I do however, mind when I'm faster than someone and get past them, but can't get away. Not that the latter would be the case very often with boost off, but it will, and did tonight, happen.

Tonight was fun, but I'm not sure how often I can stand that much intensity, and I apologize to anyone who ran afoul of my early braking points.

Something I wanted to know was why you guys couldn't catch me in the first race? I expected you guys to be behind me in a few laps but that never happened

Probably something to do with drivers not seeing each other on the track, lag etc. The first race was especially messed up with lag, people teleporting, and people saying they couldn't see you in first place.

Something I wanted to know was why you guys couldn't catch me in the first race? I expected you guys to be behind me in a few laps but that never happened
That's a good question! I had the same problem last week.I pull away (27sec lead) then I enter the pit....exit the pit and race with the crowd a couple laps then pull a 24sec lead for a long period. The boost started only like 3-4 laps from the end...I finished the race with a 3sec lead.

Boost is a totally different style of racing. It takes out any tire strategy involved in a endurance race. The car will drive and handle good until you pass someone. Everytime I passed a racer or got passed the leading car doesn't handle the same. You get use to the way the car drives when you are behind then it changes once you catch back up. Then you are still trying to drive it the same way. That is when the "divebombing", "ramming" etc occurs. Very hard to get into a rhythm.

It is hard to for a D5 guy to race and be competitive with a D1 guy. The only thing that you can make it a competitive for a slower race vs. a faster racer without boost is either:
Limit the power
or
Faster guys race on hards and slower guys race on softs.

Not really sure how you could implement this. tcrash usually comes up with some good ideas.
Maybe D1 and D2 race on hards. D3 race on mediums and D4 & 5 race on softs.

Boost is not bad when it is used in the right situation (certain tracks). When you have a track that is hard to pass (like Trial Mtn.) with boost on and everyone running all close together more rubbing, bumping and banging will occur. It is the nature of the type of race at that track. I was doing all I could do to pass clean and it was very difficult. When someone hit me I thought nothing of it. It is just going to happen.

So, I'm good with what ever everyone decides on.

I kind of doubt boost contributed to the lag. The host has a lot to do with the lag if they have a so-so connection and is not compatible with a few others.
The reason for boost being on is to keep it close racing and where you have to pay attention at all times. I agree, last night, was a cluster. Maybe we can consider boost being on under certain conditions, like longer tracks.
The last couple of races that boost was on was awesome and the people that were in those races, I'm sure would agree.
The boost idea was not just for keeping everyone close and if you mess up you can still catch up, it was to keep people from dropping out after being lapped buy faster racers and then getting discouraged and say 'well there's no way I can catch up so I'm out and leave the race.
Look, I agree that there is some negitives for having boost on but the postives, I think, out weigh the negitives.

Please, keep the suggestions coming as this is everyones race and we encourage everybody to voice there opinions. 👍👍

I don't think the track will matter much to me. The things that I don't like about boost may include the crowds and rough battling, but they don't end with that.

I don't race often on Saturdays, though, so my opinion may be taken just as lightly as you please.

Trial Mountain! A narrow 2.47 mile course where anything is posaible. Tonight we welcome you to Round 4 of the Saturday Premier Enduro Club! This track is one of the originals of Gran Turismo! The track has had many improvements made to it through-out the years, but it hasn't failed to deliver that non-stop action we come every Saturday to see! Trial Mountain will be the host of one massive race! 15 cars are on the entry list for tonight. Qualifying has just ended on the mountain, lets go down to the track to see how the grid looks tonight!

d2kBBiM.jpg

As intense as these races will be tonight theres a huge headline in the garage! rossitronic's hauler has not showed up on the mountain. So as he was trying for a back to back championship effort, the championship has now opened up to the rest of the field tonight! With the regulars ready to battle it out tonight, there are five new AJK-VAIL, Oshawa-Joe, Sandblazter, Husam-One, and moperlover all making their season debut's and career debut's here tonight! Lets look at tonights starting line up! Starting P1 for "The Duel" will be Kendawg-198! Starting on the outside pole will be tcrash15. Third place belongs to Nic-KL. Fourth place tonight will be AJK-VAIL. Rolling off in the fifth position will be AJGH1000. In the Sixth position tonight is dragonwhisky. Seventh position belongs to THRASH_46. In the eighth spot will be Oshawa-Joe. Ninth place will be Sandblazter. In the tenth spot will be the Camaro of Husam-One. In the eleventh spot is last weeks winner GTPdangerzone641. Twelvth spot will be the commisioner cmbeal317! Thirteenth spot is going to be Apmaddock. Fourteenth spot belongs to kcheeb. And rounding out the field will be moperlover.

sB4vuSK.jpg

The drivers are ready to go, the fans are on their feet! The green light is lite as the drivers fly into the S for a 25 lap duel on the mountain!

58fxocW.jpg

Lap 3 and Trial Mountain has taken her first victim! Right off the last turn there is a infamous wall known as the "hook wall"!. It goes wide and hooks in rather quickly. Take that turn to wide and the wall will eat you alive! Apmaddock goes for a ride as he hits the wall.

6K12Ab9.jpg

Lap 5: More trouble as the hook wall takes its next two victims! AJK-VAIL takes the turn to wide and THRASH_46 follows his tracks as they smack the wall and slide down the Front Straightaway! You might as well call the front "Skidmark Alley"

w6RfRRX.jpg

The opening laps of "The Duel" are complete as Kendawg-198 holds his dominance as he starts on the pole and pulls away from the field

uf0Abuf.jpg

Lap 10 of 25 and Kendawg198 is surrendering the lead to Nic-KL for the first time tonight. for a pitstop as the drivers try to set up their strategy for the main feature.

IQo2mmp.jpg

One lap later, Nic-KL with strategy in mind is hitting the pits for four fresh ones as AJK-VAIL takes the lead in "The Duel"

H4Vsy1k.jpg

Lap 16 and GTPdangerzone641 takes the lead and runs with it. He has a 17 second lead over the rest of the field!

QO7ObvP.jpg

One lap to go in "The Duel" and GTPdangerzone641 has gone untouched since Lap 16. Maybe the Guradian of Trial Mountain has something to do with this?

FQzsDxn.jpg

Checkered Flag in the air and GTPdangerzone cruises across the Finish Line and will start P1 for "The Feature" next race. And by the way the fastest lap on the race was 1:18.730 set by your winner GTPdangerzone641!
Here's your results from "The Duel"
1. GTPdangerzone641
2. tcrash15
3. Kendawg198
4. Nic-KL
5. AJHG1000
6. AJK-VAIL
7. dragonwhisky
8. kcheeb
9. THRASH_46
10. Apmaddock
11. Sandblazter
12. HusamOne
13. moperlover
14. cmbeal317
15. Oshawa-Joe

EuEJ5iI.jpg

The drivers have had a few minutes to discuss with their teams their final strategy for "The Feature" and three drivers have called it a night early. GTPdangerzone641, AJK-VAIL, and kcheeb have rolled their Camaro's into the haulers and are going home. Twelve drivers remain as tcrash15 will be the Pole Sitter for tonights Main Event of 49 Laps!

MMK6z9G.jpg

If you thought the duel was intense we are doing it again! Sit back and relax folks as the green light shines in 12 drivers who want to be the best, race off the line through the hairpin and up into Trial Mountain!

qJkLkno.jpg

Opening laps as they race through the mountains cars are getting a little air as they head into the right hander tunnel back towards the line!

42nYXTz.jpg

LAP 6: tcrash15 leading the race and OH TROUBLE! he taakes the last turn to wide, slams the hook wall and goes for a ride down Skidmark Alley with major damage! Kendawg198 takes over control of the field!

yP0VaZT.jpg

One lap later on Lap 7 Kendawg gets damage through the high speed S and is forced to surrender the lead to AJHG1000 and falls to 3rd place behind Oshawa-Joe

cNGoe7n.jpg

Lap 8 and the battle for 1st place is already intense! AJHG takes the turn to wide as Oshawa-Joe and Kendawg198 both take advantage and race 3-wide down the Back-Straightaway!

zWF0csJ.jpg

AJHG1000 slides up the hill in the breaking zone, Oshawa-Joe and Kendawg198 dive into the corner and Kendawg198 regains his lead two laps later as Oshawa-Joe takes over 2nd Spot!

ukqoPEq.jpg

Lap 16 and pitstops have begun! Kendawg198 gives up the lead to Oshawa-Joe as he pits for 4 fresh tires!

IJZieFQ.jpg

Trying to stay on the same schedule, Oshawa-Joe brings his Camaro to Pitlane as HusamOne takes over 1st place for the first time today!

HMu1vkh.jpg

Lap 19 and Nic-KL isnt here to mess around. The boys over on FOXSPORTS have given us some new camera angles for tonights race. The debut of the roof cam placed on every car in the field! Nic-KL jumps back on the gas for the Back-Straightaway as he takes over the lead!

vB3EqhT.jpg

As the battle for the lead has calmed down, the battle for 5th place is picking up! moperlover tries to hang on as 6th place dragonwhisky, 7th place Oshawa-Joe, and 8th place THRASH_46 all try to get to the lead!

Eaqk6Yx.jpg

Nic-KL is showing his domination as he has a 13 second lead on Lap 26. But the battle for 2nd place is intense as ever. From the back of Sandblazter's car, Apmaddock is in 3rd, followed by dragonwhisky in 4th and tcrash15 in 5th place as they all draft down the Back-Straightaway!

2SBpHY5.jpg

Lap 30 and Nic-KL takes a trip down the pitlane! Kendawg198 retakes the lead and is the seventh lead change of the night!

Nzwcjry.jpg

Lap 33 and we got trouble in the back! The infamous "hook wall" takes another victim in the form on cmbeal317

Jp9gvay.jpg

Trying to catch back up to the leader, Nic-KL just set the fastest lap of the race and a new track record! 1:17.581!! Last race the fastest lap winner was the race winner, will Nic-KL do the same?!

uEYEi2h.jpg

Official Lead Changes only count at the Start/Finish Line, but if we counted every lead change on the lap we would be up to 15! dragonwhisky and Nic-KL both pass Kendawg198 and battle it out on Lap 37! at the end of the lap, dragonwhisky edges out Nic-KL and is the 8th "official" Lead Change of the night!

bEF72RM.jpg

These drivers make the earth shake underneath the Guardian of Trial Mountain's feet Nic-KL finally regains the lead from dragonwhisky on Lap 40 of 49!

7Akph0r.jpg

Nic-KL takes the turn to wide and dragonwhisky has regained the lead! Not for long look at the comeback! tcrash15 is back in this as he takes the lead going down the Back-Straightaway! 10th Lead Change of the night 8 LAPS TO GO!

nlNiM9G.jpg

Only 5 Laps to go, whatever you got its what your using until the Checkered Flag falls! tcrash15 leads the field through the turn as Oshawa-Joe, Kendawg198, and Nic-KL follow behind ready to make their moves for the win!

hOVSoV3.jpg

4 laps to go as they race through the mountains! tcrash15 slides up the race track and that opens the door for the rest of the pack! Oshawa-Joe dives in to the turn and takes the lead! behind him Nic-KL dives in side-by-side with Kendawg198 they bump into each toher battling hard for 2nd as they fly through the mountain!

LfIt51z.jpg

Kendawg198 leads them around, one lap to go! if you got anything left heres the time to show it. Apmaddock uses his Camaro to come out of no where and take over 2nd place from tcrash15 as they head into Turn 2!

zyVo5Wx.jpg

Racing for the lead Kendawg198 slides up the hill and opens the door for Apmaddock to take the lead! Kendawg198 slides all the way across the racetrack and shuts the door on Apmaddock as they barrell into the high Speed S's!!
