A Note From The GM Desk

My apologies to all for letting all of the ducks run all willy-nilly lately. Real life has been red lined for what seems like an eternity but all willing I am hoping things settle down in the very near future. With that said, things are moving very quickly and so much information is being discovered and shared about GT6. This upcoming Sunday is going to be another epic tale in the SNAIL story and it is high time I start collecting me some ducks!

I think this may be developing in other divisions but I would like to have all drivers assigned to D3 to send me a friend request on PSN before Sunday. If everything works correctly, we can run a friends only lounge and eliminate the non-SNAIL entries and concentrate on fine tuning League night.

The divisional decks have also been shuffled quite a bit since GT5 and we are looking to fill key roles in the D3 infrastructure. Until we get settled, I can cover all jobs but would really like to see more members volunteer for division responsibilities. I have been involved with Team SNAIL for quite some time and I can't imagine not participating in the behind the scenes work. It just makes being a member of this great League a lot better knowing that I can give something back. It is also a great way to fill your bank with $hells! I am living proof that a lot of shells can turn into amazing things!

HELP WANTED:

Capable Host/Race Director:
Scorekeeper:
Replay uploader:
Data Specialist:
Photographer:

Each of these positions also requires a back up in case the primary is not able to race. Please let me know via PM if you are interesting in being a part of the engine that runs our great League!

Thanks!!

I've said it before, and I really do mean it: Some of my most memorable (in a good way) moments in SNAIL have been when someone pulled off a great pass on me. Sometimes I'm the artist, other times I'm the canvas, but either way, it's great to behold a masterpiece.

Good racing is just... Really, really better than Good!

I am thinking when the racing is really good even if you are beaten that race, and you are able to come out ahead, then that feeling is probably better than really, really good... So, a good experience that leaves the second place guy feeling accomplished, and the guy who passed him feeling better... A SNAIL theorum? Corollary? Dunno, but, I will take a close race with any result over a sloppy race, or mindless drubbing.

I guess I am developing an ideal of pursuing my best race.

I do not 'like' losing, but I will take a tightly contested and clean battle over.. Most anything.

I think my question got lost in the stream of posts. Is there anyway to view our results from the individual races on Sundays? I'm only finding the point totals for the whole evening.

If you go to the first post of this thread, you will see "S.N.A.I.L. Results" highlighted.
It's in the paragraph labeled Comprehensive Race Data.
Open that page and you will see info for the weekly stats, the monthly points as well as a whole bunch of other stat options.
Try that.

Thanks Socal.

I'd also like to thank chatva and hooker for all of their help with taming the beast that is the Amuse.

I've gotten down to a 2:34.6 and I know where a good amount of time is to be had. Thanks boys!!!

I have had some issues with the replays and other things and I have not had a chance to fill in all of the data yet but hope to have it sorted sometime this weekend. The info that is on the results sheet right now is only where you started and where you finished. If there is any mistakes, I will have them sorted out as well.

One of my favorite SNAIL memories will always be that time I bump-drafted you from like 8th place up to 3rd on the front straight at Grand Valley. Good times, too bad I ran off the track and blew it

As many times as I've tried to repeat it, it has never worked so brilliantly again. That was certainly one race I'll remember for a while :)

Edit: We are both back in the same division, I believe. Hmmm....

Exo, thanks for putting the D3 team together! Quick questions for everyone though.. Can a friends only room be set up as a non-fixed host room? If so, what happens to everyone who is not friends with the new host if/when the original host is disconnected? After all, the new host might not be friends with everyone and the room would still be a "friends only" room after all.

I know this scenario can be prevented by trying to ensure that the backup host is friends with everyone else too, but I'm mainly just trying to get an understanding of how the game treats scenarios such as the one I just described. I want think of potential issues so that we can be ready for them.

discoed...Tons of fun, see you later.

Also, as bad as connections issues were last last Sunday in Open Lobby, I've actually heard that "friends only" rooms might actually present even more connection issues. Case in point, Chiochan getting disconnected from Rally's friends only room tonight. Has anyone else heard or experienced anything along these lines? If so, please provide your feedback!

Since we'll have at least four divisions on Sunday night, perhaps we could have two divisions race in the Open Lobby, and two divisions race in Friends Only rooms. That way, we could have a real-time comparison to see which is more or less likely to have connection/lag issues. Granted there are other variables involved (mainly the quality of the host's connection), but I think these things could still be tested to compare the two options.

I was going to mention that the link to the S.N.A.I.L. Results document is linked in each league night's results post (which is linked next to each date listed in the lineup post). However..

..I forgot that the S.N.A.I.L. Results is linked in the first post as well. Thanks for the reminder, Sand!

I realized tonight why I have such a hard time dialing down my aggression on the track - Gran Turismo has trained me to be aggressive. "...Make sure to overtake at every opportunity. Don't be afraid to try to force your way into an opponent's inside if you think it might get you ahead. The first corner is the most important: Make it through there nice and fast, and the rest will be a breeze." -GT6 Mission Race S-4. Sheesh.

I remember that one :)

The only way to gold it is with 3 divebombs.

Whatever works best for you... We are just experimenting with it. Hopefully one of the updates will give us back private rooms soon.

Yes. A 'friends only' room can be set up as a non-fixed host. As for the primary host getting disconnected; it's very important that when the primary host opens the room, the back up host should enter next and then everyone else. Everyone in each division should be friends with the primary host and the back up host.

Division 2 will be opening a 'friends only' room, this Sunday. We will not be in an open lobby so it is very important that you check the Drivers List and make sure that if you are racing in D2, you are friends with tcrash15 and fastfox400. I sent out friend requests and everyone but GTP_Wins, GTP_XR_RACER11 and Jones3619 has accepted.

If you are racing in D2 on Sunday, you need to get your friend requests accepted for you to be able to race. Remember. send your friend requests to tcrash15 and fastfox400.

I have excepted all friend requests that I have been sent. I will send out the remaining sunday evening when I get on..

Mario Andretti (part of the Wikipedia article - Mario had a twin brother named, Aldo)

Mario and Aldo were surprised to find a half-mile dirt racing track when they moved to Nazareth. The twins worked on a 1948 Hudson Hornet Sportsman modified funded by money that they earned in their uncle's garage in 1959. They took turns racing the old Hudson on oval dirt tracks near Nazareth in 1959. They did not tell their parents that they were racing. The twins each had two wins after their first four races. Aldo was seriously hurt near the end of the season, and their parents were unhappy to find out that the twins were racing. Mario had 21 modified stockcar wins in 46 races in 1960 and 1961.
