No that makes sense. Spec miatas IRL are anything but "stock" miatas. However I feel that when we upgrade the tires on some cars it messes with the suspension tuning that was designed for the stock tires. Some cars are worse than others but a spec miata IRL has the suspension to handle the sticky tires they run.
Was typing out a reply, but I gotta run. I'll reply later though and also to any other posts on this topic. :)

Finalists, I've added some clarification to the terms and conditions. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Better times in GT6 doesn't necessarily equate directly to two grades better tires. There are a lot of factors involved like the physics, suspension and aerodynamics engine.

There are a lot of cars that handle better in GT6 and a lot that handle worse. I could cite examples but it's not important. I would venture to say that certain cars may be slower in GT6 than in GT5 due to drastic differences in how they handle.

The Spec and Stock example is just semantics. Since the only modifications we can police beyond No Tuning is tires. So, yes, we run Stock cars but change the tires to suit.

Honestly, I felt that way for a minute. But when I think about it. Outside of SNAIL, I only drove about 10 cars. There are maybe 3 car packs in iRacing I'll use, the tracks though, collecting all the road courses is gonna be pricey. Financially it will be a bit more, but after two races, I am blown away at how much better it feels, how much adjustability there is, and how much smoother it all runs.
$1000? If you have a computer already then you won't need to spend that much. $50 for some more ram and maybe $200 for a new graphics card. Granted that is 250 more than you need to not play. But that is assuming you even need those things.
Ultimately, I'm not trying to undermine GT6 here. I just wanted KTR to know he's not at PDs mercy. There are options, and that makes PD at his mercy.

I could use my current machine to play. It would probably require, at the least, a RAM upgrade. Playing from my 22" monitor would be a serious step back, after using the 42" TV. Then there's the logistical issue of either moving my G27 rig to the computer, or, moving the computer in place to hook to the TV, which would require, with nothing but the RAM upgrade, hooking up the DVI and the sound card output to the TV or receiver, then, moving it back, when I wanted to do computing stuff.

The other option, would be to build a, essentially, bare bones box with the necessary hardware, just to play iRacing. Me being me, I wouldn't go with the minimum requirements, but rather, I'd exceed the recommended, at least in processor, RAM and Vid Card. While I've not specced out a machine in a few years, I'm pretty sure all the parts would run up well over $800.00.

I've bought and built computers with one game in mind, but in all those cases, that computer pulled duty for much more than that one game. I don't even need my wife to object to the latter plan. I can't justify it.

iRacing is for a much more serious and/or dedicated group of sim racers than I.

On a side note, last night I watched a program called Horsepower on NBCSN after F1 FP1 and have to say, I was fairly drooling over the sim rig FA and KR get to use in Maranello. Wonder how much RAM and processor that thing uses? ;)

All this talk regarding PD's flaw is fair in a way that all of us are costumers and the product is not exactly cheap. But the thing is there are way more important things in life... GT6 is just a videogame and some people is getting theyre brains upside down because of it. In my opinion, despite the issues, it's a hell of a videogame that gives me the chance to do something that i love to do and never had a chance in real life. It's highly entertaining, the closest thing to real life you can get , allowed me to meet all of you nice people what else do I want??? Perfection? Seriously!
A, we are here for and because of gt6. Of course we are here for snail and the comradery. But this is a gt league, on a gt site, soooo right here in this moment, no there isn't more important things. We aren't here to solve world hunger. We are here to play and discuss SNAIL, GT, and GTPlanet, with a few adlibs here and there.
As for the last part. Idk about you, but I bought a game on the premise that certain things were going to be done on a certain time frame. In not looking for perfection, but I am expecting professionalism. Maybe it's ok to be late in the construction business? Or would the client get pissed if you promised them that you would get to certain milestones, feel behind in your work, had to reschedule everything, delay all sorts of crap, and not communicate with them about it at all. And then, when you finally get tired of hearing them complain, you say, hey look, we got you three toilets to play with, be happy. Get real. That client would kick your ass off the work site and hire new contractors. I could deal with all of it, grudgingly of course, but I could deal, if they would communicate. But why should they? They got your money and you defending their bad business practices, ps3 is on its last leg and they are already well into developing gt7. I got a feeling gt6 wasnt worth the effort in the end, so they probably pulled lots of resources from it for developing gt7. If so, fine. Just communicate.

Since we seem to be in experimenting mode, I had a thought or two on the tire debate,

How about we try this;

Current Tire spec is;
Tire Restrictions: (based on Dealership PP)
Street Cars
below 450 PP -> Sports Hards
450-499 PP ---> Sports Mediums
500 PP & up --> Sports Softs
Race Cars
below 600 PP -> Racing Hards
600 PP & up --> Racing Mediums
Tuner Cars
Classified as either Street or Race cars based on this list

Change it to;
Tire Restrictions: (based on Dealership PP)
Street Cars
below 450 PP -> Comfort Softs
450-499 PP ---> Sports Hards
500 PP & up --> Sports Mediums
Race Cars
below 600 PP -> Sports Softs
600 PP & up --> Racing Hards
Tuner Cars
Classified as either Street or Race cars based on this list

It's only a one grade difference. I'm categorically against racing anything on comfort tires, but, to find a middle ground for the folks that want more slidier cars, that supposedly help you improve your car control, which I can't really argue with much, since, when I was doing my practice sessions this time last year, I would customarily run a tire spec one grade lower, for a full race length, before putting on the spec tires and giving them hell, I'd be willing to make this change. I don't think this will improve side by side racing, especially with those of us that are less skilled than others, but, if everyone makes an earnest effort to drive with them, it should have benefits down the road.

Does your current computer have an HDMI out? If so, all you need to connect to your TV is HDMI, power, and ethernet.

You can definitely build a machine for iRacing for much less than $800. I bet I could price something out at less than $500.
