Based on the success of the Wed Night Race Car Series, we are happy to announce the creation of the newest SNAIL Sanctioned Event

Special thanks to @brntguy for the video!

The SNAIL [Touring Car] Series (TCS) will compete on Tuesdays @ 9:00pm eastern and will feature the following.
Will use Wed Night [Race Car] Series as the base for this series with the following changes
  • Tuesday Nights @ 9:00pm Eastern
  • Touring Cars Only
  • Three 25 min races using a slightly modified BTCC format
    • Race 1 - Grid set based on 6 min qualifying session
    • Race 2 - Grid set based on results from race 1 (winner gets pole position)
    • Race 3 - Grid set based on inverted grid based on results from race 2
  • 5 min break between races
  • Fuel/Tire Ware set depending on Touring Car used
  • Tire Restrictions - Must use RH and RS
    • Must change Tire Compounds during race (no minimum laps)
    • Must make at least 1 pit stop requirement
    • Must start a least 1 race on both compounds (Example: Race 1-RH, Race 2-RS, Race 3-RS)
  • Will use the same schedule as the Wed RCS, however there will be no all star race (4 weeks with 1 week off between seasons)
  • Highest finisher in points each night that is not in the top 10 on Wed Night will get a locked in spot for Wed Night race and will not need to go through KOQ on Wed Night
    • Must be an active driver in the RCS
  • Season Champion gets to select 1 of the 4 tracks to be used in the next season (based on track list provided).
The following will RCS features will not carry over to the SNAIL [Touring Car] Series (TCS)
  • No season ending All Star Race
  • No Team Championship
We feel the above format for the SNAIL [Touring Car] Series will offer different challenges/rewards yet still have some of the similarities of the Wed RCS.

We are currently taking signups for the first season scheduled to start on 1/6/14. If your interested please head over to the official topic to sign up or ask any questions you may have.

Finally, I would like to thank @brntguy @Zii1993 @Wardenclyffe (Co-Directors) in helping with putting this together. We are confident that this will be a great series that will complement the SNAIL weekly line up and the RCS.

Thanks
James (Grim)

Not quite correct. Our lowest division is allowed to use ABS (like everyone else), TCS, and the driving line if they request to do so. They may not be promoted if they are using these aids. SRF and ASM are not allowed in any division.

For the most part, none of us use them as far as a every weekend occurrence. DcSchWinn does a good job of informing the newer drivers to not get used to having them as they go away with promotion to higher division. I think we've had one maybe two that have used TCS once or twice, but I think he has stopped using TCS now.

I figured since the PSN network is still down I would practice on Snails time trials.

Is there a guide on how to do one? It's probably really simple but I haven't done one yet.

Well I thought PSN was still down lol but still need to know about the TT's (edited)

@vsfit is correct. I let everyone know the first race of the season that its available upon request. I will not ask everyweek and they do know the ramifications if they do chose to use them. Hope that's what I was supposed to do.

That's exactly what you're supposed to be doing. If anyone ever does choose to use them and are running at the top of the division, please let me know so that I don't promote them.

I usually make a note on the directors sheet.

It's easy enough, but you have to be able to log in to the community. So once on the snail club page, there are options on the left, one is events. That is where the time trials are

Don't forget to claim your $hells for completing reviews. It's not much but, since you guys got these done over the week of Christmas, I will be paying a 1 for 1 bonus for every $hell you claimed for doing reviews this week.

SOME MEXICAN!? He was laggin too? What NERVE! LOL Replays don't lie, they're not biased or racist for that matter.

I don't mean to beat the dead horse here but as one of the newer members to SNAIL in D8, I must say that I was told that I can use TCS but that I would not be promoted if I did, basically frowned upon. Personally I have never used it here in SNAIL, even with the GT-R. Everyone, in all divisions, have been very helpful and running the practice races and being able to record and watch what the really fast racers are doing has been an immence help. I throughly enjoy racing in SNAIL and all of the great people.

Personally, I am not a fan of "frowning upon" TC use by rookie racers. Traction control is an allowed [read: not mandatory](second time I've used that term on this topic btw) assist that is meant to help drivers get acclimated to pushing the limit. Also, just because somebody drives in D8 does not qualify them as a "rookie" driver. I think the option is there for true rookies who may need some assistance to get acclimated. They should not be "frowned upon" for using tools at their disposal to do so, but I do agree they would need to work for a promotion.

There are many that frown upon brake bias changes, yet many utilize it because it cannot be regulated like TC can. I do not begrudge any for using all available and legal advantages, but I don't particularly care for double standards.

Anyways, I think some may have overlooked my point. My D8 comment was an illustration to highlight the way that I believe SNAIL standards are constructed to provide all drivers of all abilities the best overall atmosphere for competition and development. I mean, SNAIL has essentially evolved how many racing careers to this point? and put how many hobbyists on national television to showcase their developed skills? I'm thinking it's working..

Last night my son and I watched The Interview online.

IMHO Sony Executives were behind the whole "You watch it I keel you" as a publicity stunt. It's easily one of the worst movies I've seen in my life. Sony realised it and tried to create hype for it.

It's 111 minutes of my life wasted that I will never get back.....

EDIT... In short...don't waste your time...I took one for the team

Hey all.

I wont be racing for a while. Broke my left femur snowboarding, so I'll be recovering for quite a while. Not sure what steps will need to be taken here for me while I'm out of commission.

See you guys back on track soon! (I hope)
OMG! That hurts... get better quickly my friend.

Sorry to hear that Falango. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks Heat! Surgery went well, managed to walk this morning with the help of a walker, and 50% weight on the leg. Good start to the recovery.

OMG! That hurts... get better quickly my friend.

It did, it was excruciating. I had my appendix out 13 years ago, and it had burst, and the peak of the pain yesterday was comparable. I crashed on the worst part of the mountain too. Took almost 3 hours to haul me out via boards and sleds, and the sleds got stuck.
