Btw, I prob won't make practice till late, if at all. Wed night couples' Bible study. And another note to Owens I think it was, I coach football, basketball, baseball. With specialty in baseball and football.

I did buy the game to play it, as is. I didn't need the extras to play the game I purchased. It is not new or surprising. It is simply a principle I have issues with. That is all. I will probably give in and make the purchase just because the competition is very good here, and with integrity and respect for others and racing itself; I don't want to miss the competition. I can race my absolute hardest and respect my opponents because I know they respect my racing. I don't want to make this another issue; i.e. drawn out discussion. I have an issue with purchasing additional content when, IMO, we have enough as it is. It is not new or surprising. It has been discussed and I respect the decision of our dedicated stewards <tip of the hat>.

Now we all know, and life is good because of Him....

Coach, were you able to do this? The reason I ask isn't because I'm trying to guilt you into buying the DLC, I'm just curious how you got on the Kart Space track if you didn't buy the Course Pack. And if you bought it, but just forgot about it, then I'm hoping you purchased the $11.99 bundle that included the Course Pack, the Racing Gear Pack, Racing Car Pack, and the Paint Pack. Most people who purchased any of these when they first came out got the $11.99 bundle because it was such a good deal compared to buying them separately.

That being said, if you are 100% sure you don't have the Racing Car Pack, just let me know and I'll send you a code that you can use to get it. tcrash bought three of those codes and he's given out two of them already. So there's one more left for you if you want/need it. :)

Something to think about Coach. No I'm not disrespecting your views on Pay to Play. I used to think the same way several years ago. I just started looking at video games, whether console or computer, as entertainment value and worked from there.

I base my cost/benefit ratio on going to the movies at the theater. I figure about $4.00/hour for entertainment without any extras (popcorn, 3D, etc). Even factoring in the cost of electricity to run all the gear I use to play and environmental conditioning, GT5, and all it's add-on packs, doesn't even come close to being that expensive, after all the hours I've put in to this game, just since last December. I will admit that the purchase of the PS3, game, wheel, stand and headset, was a bit to justify at first. Fortunately, the PS3 gets a boost to its entertainment value by virtue of its media versatility. Granted, the add-on packs practically double the retail price of the game but that still amounts to less than $100.00, or 25 hours of movie watching at the theater. And yes, it is a bit easier to skew the numbers, since it's much easier to fall in to my couch than it is to drive to the theater. Still, it works for me. Your mileage may vary.

I don't know about you, but I've already got my money's worth out of the game and then some. But then, it may be because I chose to look at it this way.

Just something to think about.

Dragonwhisky
post is above .

I too have taken in the consideration of going to say a kart place and spending money. Going to arcades to find a game with a wheel. Usually crappy but the wheel made it worth it. LoL

I totally agree. I have owned three game systems (ps1, ps2 and ps3) and three games (GT2, GT4, GT5), two wheels (DFP, G27) and PS3 headset. Lets say that has cost me $1000. Now lets say over the 8 years since I bought my first setup I have averaged 5 hours a week ( I am sure my wife will say its double that) thats 2080 hours. That puts the hourly cost at $.48 an hour. What else can I do that is so much fun and cost so little?

I remember early mention of GT5 being a buy cars and tracks individually and I initially thought how stupid that was. But now I would rather do it that way. I am very envious of the Forza 4 DLC. The way they continually got more cool cars should shame the GT5 guys. Sure it cost money. But if we could truly buy them individually I think we would all end up with better garages of premium cars we would want to drive.

Just my $.48

I will probably switch to the wheel for the sunday races...Since 2.09 , driving with the ds3 is not enjoyable anymore.I haven't played much lately and I canceled many series for that reason.
Now I have to think about my inputs, it's not all subconsciously done like on the ds3.
I killed it in the licence tests , but I have no "finesse".... I can't feel the road yet.

You're on a controller and you're that fast?!?! Yowza. Well done sir, well done.👍

I agree with you 100%. This endless debate about penalties would be a non-issue is the penalty system didn't suck so hard. It wouldn't be all that hard to improve it. All it would take is something simple like this.

Btw Nick, are you still planning to share your "normalizing" idea? Cuz I'm definitely still interested in hearing about it. :)

👍 And yes, I am still planning on sharing it, just need a little more time (been busy at work lately.) Please bear with me :)

Man.. those are cheap movies, here even the Matinee is a rip off around here!!!
Ok good. For whatever reason, when I bought the dlc, I got two of each of the cars, and they both had it so I got nervous. The break in at Indy with the honda is going to take easily 2 1/2 hours, ugh. Wanted to get some practice in before practice time haha.

Practice for the practice... Must be nice! I can barely find time to get a few hours of playtime lately! :irked:

Real life is going to get in the way of me racing over the next few weeks so I want to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.

If someone can take over for me in opening the Wed practice room (blue room) starting tonight , please let zer0 know.

Good luck to all and see you in Jan.

Any takers on a host for the BLUE ROOM tonight? Perhaps one of the "Capable Hosts" in D1, D2, or D3?

If not, I'll just host with my average (at best) connection.

Holy hell this corvette is hard to drive on tokyo, in d1 practicing if anyone wants in.

Running about 2:19-2:20 on suzuka, so that should be about 4-5 laps. Running in the high 1:40's and smashing every wall with the vette.

I really like the car selection this week. Good tire spread and each car has it's own personality. If any one wants a broken in model for this line up just PM me here.

There are several fast racers using the controller. We need to get them all on wheels to slow them down for a while:sly:

It'll only slow them down for a week or two.

Nick, I'd bet you feel natural with the wheel quicker than you think. I used a controller for 10 years of GT gaming before I switched to a wheel, and I was just as comfortable in just a couple of weeks.

Please, yes! 👍 Only problem with this is what DrK mentions. It wouldn't take long for those DS3 users to adapt and then they'd most likely be even faster.

That's per hour man. Most movies run near or over 2 hours these days. Theater I frequent costs $8-12 per movie regular pricing. Can get in for less if I hit the early show.

Thanks Nick! I always used the D-pad... I can be just as fast with the stick, but I prefer the D-pad 👍. Now it's time to gain experience on the wheel.
Dang nick, i thought i was the highest controller user, but obviously not great job 👍
There are many really fast driver(D1) using the ds3... You just have to know them. ;)

Did five or six laps on each track. None of the cars are broken in or even have oil changed lol. But here are some lap times for everyone to work off of.

- 2:19.337 Suzuka in CR-Z TC
- 2:15.817 Nurburgring GP/F Amuse S2000
- 1:46.664 Tokyo R246 Corvette ZR1 C6

Honestly, in alot of situations, I think a controller would have the advantage over the wheel.

All the gas, brake and turning are all instant. No lag from one extreme to the other. Definitely an advantage. Now there are disadvantages as well...but a good controller user will have an advantage in alot of situations.
