I would also bet, 2arm, that the vast majority of the cars in GT5 are around 500PP or lower.

I've no problem with the fast cars. I actually think I race pretty well in them (time will tell) but I certainly wouldn't say that SNAIL has been running particularly slowly.

Also, like I said after the races Sunday, the Capp actually made 60mph feel fast. It's all relative.

Driving close to people isn't that huge of a rush to me, I'm more like Ricky bobby "I wanna go fast". Having to make the choice of pushing the car and potentially crashing or driving slow and making it through the course is where the real fun begins

And I am a victim of "snail factor". I used to be pretty damn slow

Cool...I guess its all about practice, and finding the momentum!

I ran a few laps in the FGT and Zonda/R and really liked both, especially the FGT at Daytona.. I was only ran 1:19'5xx as best - how does that compare?

Ran the Zonda in one of the 650pp seasonals to make some more cash in order to buy the damn FGT...I went on a spending spree a few weeks back and bought a bunch of expensive cars, and didn't have enough for fresh copies of both! :P (thanks for that...)

On the FGT colour item... I got a green/yellow one, and like the "camo"ish colour scheme, so I'll stick with it..though I think I might have a L24 ticket lying around...

on the 530pp 4WD challenge at 430pp...I assume "driving like its stolen" includes cutting all chicanes, etc...

Let's just say that I would never do this in a SNAIL race... Other than Cat & Mouse... :-)

Heading to D1, take cover!

(Hit my limit of off-track fun for now)

Outta D1

Sorry guys if u tried to join me in d1 my Internet stopped working for a bit there. 1:19 in the fgt is a great pace if you can run that without needing to pit stop

Why would I need to pitstop?

I'll be online for some practice tonight....can I suggest we skip the Clio at GVE and go straight to the new combos? I can't stay til 12am.

...or maybe just put the Clio last. It's been run so much, that I don't think anyone *needs* practice anymore.

I agree (for me), I have little interest in the Clio vs seeing new ones. I can seldom make it past 1 combo Wed.

But if we do it 'normal' that is fine, and I hope it goes well.

Anyone found any good tricks for driving the FGT? Just practiced awhile on it and got so far in the grass at Daytona that I was literally "lost" for awhile before I found my way back to the track. Ran a couple of 1:23's.

1:19's are amazing whoever is running those.

Hopefully Oshawa-Joe will chime in here, as he has quite a bit of experience with the FGT. I haven't tried it at Daytona yet, but I've driven it a bit elsewhere. It's basically a really powerful kart, in that it has very little suspension travel. That means that you can't really jerk the wheel around or mash the accerator expecting the suspension to absorb some of the jarring. So, it rewards a smooth, deliberate driving style more than one that tends to throw a car into the corner and catch it at the apex. In short, use the smallest inputs you can, and apply them smoothly.

Another thing you may not be used to is it's insane downforce/weight ratio at speed. This means that, counter-intuitively, you can sometimes get more grip in a mid- to high-speed corner by entering it at a faster speed. This characteristic rewards aggressive trail-braking and late-ish apexes.

Anyway, those are the things that spring to mind.

Thanks DRKronin. Really noticing that I am over correcting a lot. Will try smaller inputs. No room for error

Guys,
Red room needs a host tonight... anyone willing to host red practice room with a fast connection?

This is what I'm getting right now.

I never really use the FGT. Only have experience with the F10 and F2007, but I'm going to guess get your braking done early.

We are using a Zonda this week? Where have I been?

I think the idea that the car has nothing to do with having a clean race is not something that is not backed up by our collective experience. I'm not going to dispute that patience has a lot to do with it, but we tend to have closer races with less-powerful cars.

Your point is valid but I wasn't really talking about close racing.:)

That is a whole other issue and if it turns out to be a bust, I guess it will get voted off. We'll just have to suffer through it if it doesn't pan out. I haven't even practiced with it yet so I don't even know what I am in for.:nervous:

Ok, I am not up for more Clio and losing sleep for the others.

Good luck, and I hope all is better than has been feared.

Clean, close racing, y'all.

Hey im interested about joining the events... a member referred me to you to try it out... would like know more, have fun and race!!!
Hey Robroychi530,

Thanks for your interest! We love racing and having fun here so you should fit in. Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You run the Time Trial. (NOTE: The tires selected for this have more grip than our current tire regulations allow, but please follow the directions exactly anyways).
2. You PM kcheeb with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
3. We assign you to the division that we feel will give you the closest competition.
4. We send you a you a PSN friend request from the corresponding SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That PSN account's lounge is where you will race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

Please note that we often race DLC from three add-on packs:

Racing Car Pack
Course Pack
Twin Ring Motegi Pack

If you don't have these add-on packs, you will need to sit out the races in which they are used.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.
