So, yeah, basically you think we should bump others off the course and move forward...

I may have misunderstood... Ram at will to advance - good ?

I guess I am no longer really following what SNAIL is aiming for.

No u misunderstood or I miscommunicated, I was trying to say ramming bad, accidental bump ok

If an 'accident' advances your position... Or your opponent's position... "Like dat?"

A 'bump' has no effect on the other driver, IMHO. A 'bump' that helps YOU and hurts the other driver is simply an accident the offending driver fails to take accountability for, or does not want to lose positionfor a driver error.

Yah, losing paint happens.

That is a different matter.

Smashing someone isn't always driver error, and so long as someone takes accountability and let's me get back in front of them I'm cool with it. I can attest to lag making crashes happen. Just last night at practice I had to get off the course because everyone's cars were skipping, and at one point, all turned sideways and drove off the course. This is why any time someone crashes and I am in their vicinity I ask if I hit them reguardless of what my screen showed, it may have looked different to them

ESCarGOT Round 1; 380PP FF at High Speed Ring...with weather :sly:

Goat leads the pack early on.

But getting in the wall is not fun here, as Husam finds out, which put me in a tight spot but I managed to avoid him barely once he extracted his Civic from the wall :scared:

Rally deciding that the best place to be was out front where you could see.

I managed to claw my way back to the leading trio of rally, racefan and goat....Husam wasn't as lucky and couldn't get back in the draft.

Rally stays out front as we head into the final lap....

...but my mighty Hyundai storms past in turn one.

I just managed to hold off rally, with racefan and goat less than a second behind.

Race two didn't have the pack out front, it was a duel between racefan's Mazda and my Hyundai....but the finish was even closer.

Another 50 yards and I'd have had him

I will not be racing this Sunday. My dad is celebrating a birthday evenly divisible by 10, and this warrants my attention. :) Good luck everyone.

Tez! Dude, you had NOS brah. Seriously though, you came screaming out of no where that last lap, you literally surprised the bageebiz out of me in the last corner, i almost dropped onto you. Shame last night fizzled, it was so fun racing. Although that x 540 is about as high powered as I can get without a wheel. I have no idea how your ds3 aliens do it. do you guys use x and square or something else for brake and throttle?

It was nice to race with weather last night. I got discoed and didn't have the gusto to try again. The comfort soft tires were a nice treat also!

Oi D1, I'll post my times if you post yours ;)

This is all friendly competition so lets compare and figure out how to get faster as a group.

I'm most decidedly not in the alien range, but I do use a DS3 controller to race. Right analog for throttle, square for brake. Even though the buttons are pressure sensitive x does not give you much range for throttle control, plus it hurts the tendons in my hand and even up my arm. Much easier with the right analog. You can also brake with the right analog, but I found this hard to do precisely.

I think gt5 addict is in D2. Pushing to match his times could be causing you to go into corners too fast and that is one of the worst things I do. Go slower to go faster.

Yeah. Sorry about the "misinfomation". I didn't realize I was on the "wrong" end of the times. Still working on getting familiar with folks here.

I am so impressed with this forum and the people here. Thanks to all. GT.

I don't know that I'd consider myself an alien either, but I use the right analog for gas and brakes and the left one to steer.

I think it's all your preference. I use X for throttle and have the ability to to use it pretty good for throttle control. The key for me is to remain calm so I can "feel" it. Brakes are pressure sensitive too so I use [ ] (square) the same as X.

In summary, I think it comes down to personal preference in conjunction with your driving style.

I try the super fast tap method, kinda like ABS for the gas, but in the heat of a race, there is no way i will have the minuit controls necessary to control my brakes or throttle. Can the l2 and r2 be set up for that?

Yes. I have it set up that way when I (rarely) use a DS3. I got used to that setup playing Forza 3.

I think you can assign almost any configuration. I do know the analog sticks are limited but the rest is pretty open to configuration. I have L2/R2 for tranny and L1/R1 for my side views.

i dont think im alien but i use the right stick for gas and braking. for practicing brake control i drive with abs off, for throttle control drifting and driving f1

I'm seriously considering the R3 for throttle now. I can see it may be smoother. Hmmm. Gonna give it a shot n see.

S.N.A.I.L. Data Update

Hey everyone, got some exciting (I think it is anyway) news.

I've been working on the information available for Cars and Tracks and have been able to get the information to display in a better more readable format. And have some handy new stuff to peruse :)

Here's a summary of the changes I made in the S.N.A.I.L. Results spreadsheet.

Graph Tab : Added S.N.A.I.L. Average Weekly Performance Points graph (scroll down to the bottom of the tab)
Graph Tab : Added S.N.A.I.L. Weekly Performance Points graph (scroll down to the bottom of the tab)
Car/Track Information Tab : Added PP and Average PP to the S.N.A.I.L. Weekly Race History Sorted by Race Date section
Car/Track Information Tab : Removed Tires from the Car names in the S.N.A.I.L. Cars section (scroll to the right)
Car/Track Information Tab : Removed Laps from the Track names in the S.N.A.I.L. Tracks section (scroll to the right)
Car/Track Information Tab : Added a S.N.A.I.L. Manufacturers section (scroll to the right)
Car/Track Information Tab : Added a S.N.A.I.L. Car List section (scroll to the right)

The S.N.A.I.L. Car List section is a list of all Premium cars in GT5 and all the Standard cars S.N.A.I.L. has raced. It includes:

1. How many times the car has been raced in S.N.A.I.L.
2. Vehicle Name
3. Dealership PP
4. Year
5. Premium or Standard
6. Drivetrain
7. Price (whether or not it can be chosen for S.N.A.I.L (green is good, red not so much) For RM cars, the price is the original purchase price plus the price of RMing it.
8. Where the car can be won in GT5 (not sure if this is complete or not).
9. For RM cars, the PP of the car right after RMing it.

I think this section could really help the winners find a cool car that hasn't been raced in S.N.A.I.L. yet. As I was compiling the information I had a few ohh and ahh moments ;)

I hope you find the information useful, was a bunch of fun putting it together!

Cheers,

kcheeb

P.S. As always, if there's some information that you think would be useful to S.N.A.I.L.s, let me know, I'll see what I can whip up :)

High 2'00 with the vette and High 1'44 with the F1.

Still some practice time left until sunday. :)

What's your bb on the vette? I drove for about 30 mins yesterday and only managed a 2:01.

The F1 is really predictable though and I got a few high 1:43's in after 10 or so.

Awesome:)

Well... Because bringing something to light that needs to be corrected is valuable to the overall community, even if only as a discussion... And not in need of a 'fix.' Official inquiry does not assume guilt, and for a practice incident, I must wonder if you doth protest too much? And publicly? sigh...

Failure to disclose or discuss ideas, or 'negative behaviors, But it was practice, man,.... practice' is repressive or reprehensible in a collaborative group.

We are the best of our ideas, even if we do not always like them - I can assure you I am not in the 'liking this at the moment' camp.

If i ever need your opinion, i will let you know.

I'm not even sure what he said:dunce:, but if he is saying that not all track contact and incidents can be ignored, then I agree. Otherwise guys work up through divisions using poor (and unreported ) driving and end up in even more incidents. I assure you that most of the D1 and D2 drivers are very concerned about having clean racing, involving very little contact. I think very little will go by unreported at that level.
