Well at least we can make a conclusion that pd is not hungry for money. I hope they pull or at least reduce the price of credit packs.

It doesnt have to process the information it just has to render the information that has already been processed by other peoples PS3. Online is less intensive than AI.

Negatory, data is sent over a network in a packet, that packet is then decoded and used by the game. if you have a full grid, that is 15 racers, constantly pushing packets out to every one else, further, that is 15 packets that your PS has to send constantly as well. Further, unlike in single player, your PS3 will also be responsible for running the algorithm that is used to place the cars on track, and figure out their trajectory in between packets received. This has to be done for every car on track. The closer you are, and the more cars near you, the more work it has to do. Go test it for yourself. get some friends, hop onto daytona with a very fast car, and watch the cars jump on your screen. Trust me, online is way more intensive on a computer than single player.

- "Real" slipstream option in addition to "Weak" and "Strong."

I really don't care much about redbull challenges, but this just made my day. Now let's hope it's indeed "real".
Looking good...

Let see the feedback from online racing.

Really interesting to try

[quote post: 9097120, member: 121786"]Regarding the new "Real" slipstream option; I ran a poll in the GT5 forum about this in January, I guess PD really do listen to us sometimes, way to go PD! 👍

Is this basically like disable collision? I do a lot of tuning on route X, & used to disable collision so no one could draft me...

Warning: Getting gold trophies in the Red Bull Kart Masters series will screw up your win ratio stats. I just got 1st place in all 4 events in the series, went to check my stats, and now it says 185 races, 181 wins. Previously it was 181/181.

I was going for a perfect run too.

Can anyone else confirm this happened to them as well? I haven't tried to beat the X2014 series yet so i'm not sure if it doesn't count your wins either.

Since it says real, and not off, or disabled, I don't think it works at all like disable collisions. You will still have a draft, it will just be different than weak and strong.

What about in GT5 when online is 16 player, but offline is a reduced grid? Isnt that because online is less intensive?

It BS period.
What are you jumping on his case for man? He had a thought and expressed it. right or wrong, he wasn't touting it as absolute fact, as evident by his willingness to like my post explaining why it was a false notion.

I hope its more weak than strong what ever happens.

As many - I don't have a lot of time to see what's new/changed but from my VERY short testing :

1. Night racing at Willow is much better - I only tried with Alfa Mito though.

2. AI - Single race, Pro difficulty at Grand Valley/2 laps - again with Alfa Mito - came in 6 with no one slowing down to let me win and one car surpassing me on final straight before the finish - no matching my speed etc.

Just played for a little while so the above may not mean those aspects were addressed or if I was just "lucky".

Now before I hop in after work to test for myself - was the stoppie issue resolved ?

Very happy with this update

Have you raced in a room with 16 people, in GT5 or GT6? Some issues are lag, some are simply that the PS3 is over powered by the data coming in. I didn't race a-spec much, and don't know the reasoning for having less then 16 cars on track, or really, how many the most cars on track are for any given race. I do know that GT6 is still capped at 16 because after that, everything become far to unstable, because the PS3 can't handle tracking that many cars in the online environment. Hell, GT6 now gets fairly unstable at 12 racers, and the few maxed out rooms I've joined, I couldn't even race. During qualifying, the issue of the room slowing down was very prevelent, and cars where all over the place. All cars were all over the place. I've got about as solid of a connection as it gets without being a commercial connection (54m+down, 15m+up, ping under 20ms) and I've not ever had lag issues in rooms with 12 or less people. It's a lot of info to keep up on. its not just placement of the car that is being tracked. The physical placement gets transmitted, as well as throttle, clutch and brake inputs, speed, direction. There is a lot of data streaming, for a lot of cars. I personally don't allow more than 12 racers in rooms I create because of this.

Does anyone noticed that if you win the Red Bull Challenges with Gold that this time in the Status menu, the statistics Counts your race but it doesn't Count your wins?

Are the Red Bull karts different in terms of power or handling?

Not from what I've gathered, it's just like the 125 PD karts. Maybe slightly more grip but that could be my imagination after driving road cars with CS tires.

The Redbull juniors should create some great spec racing in the near future, very fun car. The great sound plays a big part in that though. We need sounds like that for tuned Subaru's etc.

Agreed there, Couldn't be a hardware issue, otherwise grid starts wouldn't work online, where there is a far greater demand on the hardware, and yet, its there.
Online is actually less demanding since there is zero AI to worry about and vastly reduced physics calculations for opponent cars (since the other players PS3's are doing them).

Grid starts might cause slightly more AI overhead but the main issue I see is smoke from 16 cars at once. It does seem telling that all the grid starts that happen are all with cars that can not smoke the wheel off the line.

What? The Red Bull karts have wayyy more grip than both the original 125cc or 100cc karts. They don't spin out when attempting semi-sharp cornering. I actually had a blast finishing the series, right after the nightmare that was the 3rd race of the 125 shifter series.
