Bottom one already look like a 18th scale. They make 'em so well these days, I can't even tell anymore. :P

Well in Finland we pay 1.99€ each which is 2.64$ so its very expensive in here.

Holly cow. That's harsh.

Looking forward to the Porsche, R1600. I processed a ton of custom pics I had laying around last week (no internet) so expect some more work from me too.

Ok people, after not having internet for over a week, I'll post up another custom, but this time it's a little more involved than just a wheel swap, this is a full redo.

A custom contest is held at each bimonthly Hot Wheels Mexico Club get-together, with a certain theme. For one of them oneof the castings to use was the Brasilia, which was sold in Mexico with great success and is a very loved car in here. You all already know how it looks:
Brasilia0004.jpg

The problem with this is that it was already turned into a race car... and frankly, I tackled on the project just a week before the deadline, so it was pretty rushed. Here is the car with the paint falling off like corn flakes:
IMG_4517.jpg

Basically, all the work in this thing went to the interior. It was painted black and detailed:
IMG_4534.jpg

IMG_4536.jpg

And then an engine, a leftover of a SuperModified, got swapped in. This required breaking a hole trough the rear interior panel and also reworking the entire underside of the interior so it would still press-fit the axles against the chassis. The engine was left alone as it was already metal.

IMG_4533.jpg

heat-exiting holes were excised in the rear window with a push pin:
IMG_4537.jpg

Meanwhile, the car was given a new, very deep dark green. I wanted another color thrown in for good measure but time ate me up. You can also see in the second pic that the rollcage was painted a lighter green to give it some contrast, and the chromed exhaust in the undercarriage. The wheels were taken off a random NASCAR car, the axles had the EXACT width.

IMG_4540.jpg

A window net was made from a small piece of a kitchen... strainer? dunno if the word is right, but you know what I mean. It was also painted red. Stupidly, I instaled it on the outside of the rollcage.
IMG_5399.jpg

Then it was all detailing, which was very rushed, I didn't have time to mask the bits off, as I was doing it the same morning of the day of the reunion. In this picture you can also notice the custom front lip I made from a flat piece of black plastic:

Wheel lugs were detailed; I wanted to paint the wheels the same green as the rollcage, but ran out of time; they look good and mean in black, anyway:

So there it goes. I didn't win a damned thing because there was another Brasilia that gave us all a run for our money, I'll show you pics of it soon, a friend of mine built it. I'll just say one thing: custom widebody. Anyway, for a one-week effort I'm pretty happy how this thing turned out.

I'm not a collector of Hotwheels or Matchbox, but I was walking through the airport a couple weeks ago waiting for the plane, and found this Ferrari GTO hiding in one of the stores. Being a fan of cars it was impossible for me to resist buying it.

I understand why you guys love collecting these things. It feels like I have a piece of automotive history, and it feels awesome to share it with people. Although it is obviously not worth any money, I'd rather just keep it in its original case to preserve its beauty (that's what everyone does anyway unless they want to take it out and "play" with it). I have collected baseball cards in the past. Maybe this will be a new hobby. I'm afraid I'll pour all my money into it though, so I'll probably just stay away.

That's a great stuff Cano!

Now yesterday, I found a BMW 3 Series and Mercedes SL made by Teamsterz. Never heard of this company before but they surely made a nice one. It's of a quality of Maisto's 1:64 and pretty cheap!

They also have quite a good line of new cars including the new E-Class...

Pictures will come soon.

Over here in South Africa, well, Durban for that matter, the Avanti was the most common treasure hunt that I found - 4 in total. One I purchased, one my buddy took, and the othner 2 were left behind - all different locations, but one in particular has been hanging in a store for at least 3 months now without anybody showing any interest... I have 4 2011 treasure hunts all together, including the Chevy Impala super treasure hunt!

After posting that pic of the Ferrari GTO, I went into my basement and dug up my Hotwheels from when I was a kid. I found a lot of interesting things. First, I sorted out all toy cars from random companies other than Hotwheels and Matchbox and put them off to the side. I then lined up all the cars I thought were "worth a look," lined them up and took a picture. All cars are between the years 1985 and 2000 and are either matchbox or Hotwheels (except for the Ferrari F40 and the Valvoline NASCAR)

The four cars in the front row are the Lotus Esprit (it says Shinobi on the side) (2000), Ferrari F40, Porsche 911 GT1-98' (1999), and the Ferrari 333 SP (1999)
I really don't know anything about any of these cars in this "junkyard" but I can always tell you the year and manufacturer. I would appreciate information if you know anything about any of these (collectibility, etc) . If you would like larger pictures of certain cars just let me know and I can provide them for you. Thanks!

Really? I have like 13-14 regulars and a super. I even left a few on shelves here.

I guess that is sort of like the xb falcon and even the matchbox ve utes here. Rare as anything here but extremely common everywhere else.

Will post up my finds in a few days.

So I learned of an Exotic 5-pack... unsure what some of the cars are:

There's a Murcielago, an Espirit, and an XJ220?

Awesome custom, Cano! Absolutely love that color. British racing green is one of my favorite colors and it looks very close to it.

And I look forward to seeing that Porsche custom, R1600Turbo. đź‘Ť

I myself am trying to do a Bosozoku style version of the KPGC110. With an extravagant exhaust, rear toe ring, and hopefully a crazy body kit. :D

This is the look I'm trying to achieve. It's not for everyone. :P

Correct. Though, I'm not sure what the other cars are either, lol. And this 5 pack is pretty abundant around here.

the cars are(from top to bottom)
Lamborghini Murciélago, Teegray, Lotus Esprit, Impavido 1, Jaguar XJ220

I bought that 5-pack awhile ago, I just couldn't resist that Esprit combined with another color Murcielago to add to my Murc/Reventon collection, as well as an XJ220.

I was looking through my box of old matchbox cars and I found this. It looks old, (as it is beat to 🤬) and it only says MADE IN CHINA on the bottom. Since it doesn't say "Matchbox" or anything on it, my guess is that its just a knockoff. Do any of you happen to know anything about this piece? Thanks.

Yes. I was in fact going to say something about it from your other pictures. What you have there is a very late model Yatming Jaguar Type E. Yatming was a north american brand that made all it's cars in China. At one point, the Yatming name stopped bein' put in the base of the cars, but the casting is unmistakable. That is because I have it.

That car is the rarest piece in your collection form a collectability standpoint, even if the casting is atrocious lol. Take good care of it, Yatmings without names on the base are hard to find.

EDIT: Here's mine, which is, contrary to yours, a very early model with the square-holes wheels.

Thanks! I looked it up a bit more and found the "formal" name for it is the Jaguar E-Type 4.2. It is numbered 1010 in Yat Ming's list (It was made in the early 70's, but I couldn't find the exact year). This thing is pretty thrashed, one of the wheels is broken in half (even though the half that remains still spins and works mechanically) and to say that the paint is chipping off would be an understatement. I will take good care of it, especially because I feel bad leaving it in such poor condition.

Well it is pretty beat up but it's mostly complete, really. To restore a car all you really need is that all of the glass is there and complete/not broken. Your's even has both headlamps. It's a perfect candidate for a restoration. If I found it just like it is, I'd already have it opened lol.
