Whoa, so much good cars there.

I have a maroon GT40 and a goldish Matchbox Ford GT. Also got the Tesla and the S2000, but the Honda is the gray variant though. Other than that, me jelly, especially with the Huarya, the Merc sedan, the Tuscan, and of all things - the R34.

Cool, a TVR Tuscan. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Here's one of the customs I've finished. An army style '63 Studebaker Champ.

Painted headlights.

Wanted the star to have a faded sort of look. Did the stencil with tape, which is why it isn't the cleanest job, but still decent.

Painted taillights.

Hello GTPers. I'm a little bit of a Hotwheels & Matchbox collector, and here are some of my best goodies. Captions of each picture are from left to right of what each car is. Sorry for dark pictures by the way. I couldn't seem to find light.

This one comes with a back story! :sly:

Every time I visited my father's mother (My grandmother) she would allow me to take home one of the toy cars that my father and his siblings used to play with. One of them, was this fantastic Ford Mark IV. On the bottom it says 1968! Wow such an old one. I'm thinking of getting it painted. Any suggestions?

I have more such as classic le mans cars and a Plymouth Superbird which I can't seem to find. I'll post some more pics tomorrow.

@photonrider: Woah! Nice collection man! 👍

I have several of the MB Ford GTs: one in gold and black stripes, red and white, yellow and black and one with the Gulf livery(almost identical). And I got the R34 in blue, the TVR in a metallic dark blue that flows with the line smoothly. And I have quite a few cars similar to yours, but I love that Pagani Hyrusa ! Where did you get it from, and who made it?

@M-Power: I know right? ;) The TVR is a marvelous machine made by matchbox and you can find them(which can be rare sometimes) mostly in any store(I found mines at Wal-Mart), but keep a good eye out. And/or check eBay or amazon for one, trust me, it's a beauitful car to add in anyone collection! ;)

@EliteDreamer: Where did you get the 2D and the Alfa DTM from? Those two are nice!👍 And that was a nice background story on the Ford Mark IV, love the car, I can't wait to see it restored!

Too late! I'm already on my last sip of Johnny Walker and I've loaded up my shotgun, ready to go. (Damn right I can type drunk!)

See you in hell, photonrider!

No, but really, is that an Escort Cosworth I see there?

M-Power - give it to me with BOTH barrels - FTW! Just give me a shot of Johnny, before the assful of buckshot, to dull the pain of seeing the mass amounts of loot that Cano keeps hauling out of eBay! Grrrrrr. . .
Also - Jeez! - the more I go over the collections in this thread, the more I realise how stupendous your collection is. Great work and keep posting all those acquisitions!
Okay . . . you can put the gun down now. (before I give you further bad news - it isn't a Cosworth.)

Thanks! I'm working on the lighting and it was more the aperture than the focus.

The Aperture is exactly what I'm talking about, Apokalypse - remember the smaller the aperture (you'll need more light then, or longer shutter periods on a tripod), the sharper the picture. Aperture controls depth of field and the range of sharpness in your pictures will increase.

I'd be interested in the Welly Trans Am with pullback action. I have the Camaro counterpart:

Cano - as much as I'm growling at you, I would have gladly traded, or sent the Trans-Am to you, but it's actually a car from 'Malibu' thats just over an inch in size (micro-machine). I know we like to focus on 1/64's here, but I sneaked it in to trick you, hehehh!

Gigantic post, but a very good one!

Thanks, a6m5 - coming from a long-time reg, that's very complimentary of you and I thank you. Not here often enough to post everyday - but I make sure when I come in, I try to catch up from where I left off with you guys.

Got this nice little Hyundai today, not bad.

Gee, Ryou - doesn't it look infinitely like the G37?:

Thought you guys might like this.

M-Power_FTW - I rarely click on Youtube videos or links- but trusting you I did - and what a great find! Loved that video. At least I know now for sure that I'm not the most car-insane guy in the world. That guy is!

Find the light switch, for heaven's sakes!:)

Nice to have more collectors joining up; part of the thrill I guess is showing off what we find (and finding out what to go after!) You have such great cars, so please showcase more of them. Don't part with that Mark IV. It may be the crown jewel in your collection.

Aha! Aha! :) Pagani, eh? I don't think Mazda will like that. Or did Pagani steal the idea from . . .

Here's another view of this same area - it's actually a kind of 'staging area' that I use to check out particular cars for photography and remodelling.

I'll post some of mine later :)

We're all eyes . . .

BTW - someone mentioned a dog some posts ago:

Guess I may as well throw some ponies in. With some horsepower on the side.

The crown of your collection, specially because it’s complete. Not every guy has redlines in his collection. They are called redlines because of the red lines in the tires, duh. They are the first models made by hot wheels (1968-1975 I think) and are very sought after. Google up to find more info.

Whatever you do, don’t touch it. Restoring redlines in a proper way is very complex, difficult and pretty expensive too. Besides, it was your grandfather’s. Keep it as is, don’t destroy its history. Think that it was your grandpa who gave it its current shape, and for surviving that it’s something of a hero.

You’d be better off finding another one in better condition, the Mark V is one of the easiest redlines to come by in that color, and they are amongst the cheapest redlines you can buy. 10 -15 dollars should net you one in near mint condition in the same Spectraflame green color. Hit E-Bay and see for yerself.

Neat bud. weird, but neat.

I like that army truck you got... I remember seeing that car in stock form at walmart and though it wa hideous. This painted version looks a LOT nicer :) Great stuff!

I would definitely paint it, but Cano and/or R1600Turbo are the ones to ask. You could send one of them a PM.

Yeah, I definitely need to watch for it. I love English cars!

Thanks, man! More cars are coming in from the 'Bay at the end of this week, so look out for that, along with two other customs I have in the works.

And it's not an Escort Cosworth? What is it?

Haha, it is kind of weird, but that's all I could think of doing at the moment.

Thanks! Wanted to paint it a matte color and then it all went downhill from there.

So I have a nice car in my hands. Awesome. Thanks for the information. :)
Also, is it really called Spectraflame green? Because it's blue. I'll try to get brighter pics and close-ups for a better view of it. Also I did check up on ebay and they're priced around 20-25 USD. There were a whole bunch of red ones.

you can, but it will look like fried crap.

---

Elite Dreamer, post better pictures of the car, I'll tell you the color of the car when I see it in good light, I know how all of tem are called.

And if you dig deeper in e-bay I'm sure you can find one in the 10-15 range, though you may have to bid on it... which is better than buying it outright.

EDIT: upping the brightness in photoshop reveals Spectraflame blue, and that I need tor recalibrate my monitor. But yeah, Spectra Blue indeed.

I'll get to it tomorrow. I have things to do. And I didn't know the redlines were actually worth something. I'm sure I have 2 or 3 other redline tire cars. :)

I said tomorrow. :scared:

I'm trying to figure out where though. I can't just move stuff around. Messes with my mind when things are moved. (OCD?) It'll be awhile.

you can, but it will look like fried crap.

That's exactly what I've been doing and that's exactly what it's look like so far... Not using auto paint nor paint mad for die-cast models, just acrylic and gouache (since I'm so cheap)

Haven't had time to do it for the past 2 weeks, will finally get to continue tomorrow.

hahaha, you should really try to do it the right way, since your project is so involving and actually has some sense.

I only use acrilic paints for the flat details, even flat black is shot with automotive paint, like in the Alpine:

interior.jpg

In here you can see the black part of the body, that was automotive flat black metallic; the whole interior was sprayed with that too but the red seats and the detailing on the engine (black manifold, red heads) was done using acrilic paint.

Also, if you look real close you'll see that the inside of the interior in the body is painted black, so the door panels, for example, won't be yellow like the rest of the body. That was also done with acrilic paint. Acrilic can also be used for over-body detailing: the window markings was done with acrilic paint, and it has survived well so far.

What is that by the way? Not the car (You said Alpine) but what is it? Like company or model or what? I want one of those. Build it yourself?

Ah, no. It's a Majorette Alpine A310 that I restored. It looked like this when I grabbed it:

aswas.jpg

After much work it looked like this:
almost.jpg

Up to that picture it was still lacking stuff. I'll try to take pictures of the finished thing, already completely detailed and bolted togteher again, and post them here soon.

Oh I thought Majorette was a car company that made Alpine or something like how in DiRT 3 it says Renault Alpine. I'll look these up, thanks. 👍

they are hard to find, as they were imported from France and sold only a couple years in America. In Mexico we had them since the mid-60s, but those are hard to find. The mid-70s, mid-80s cars are more common, albeit hard to find in decent shape. Case in point, I have 4 more of those Alpines in more or less the same condition as the one I restored, and only like 3 in decent-good shape. In E-bay they are always expensive.

nah, not that much. Well, there are crazy bastards that sell them for that, but 10 bucks, not more, would net you a mint example of one. My mint one cost me like us$7, but that wasn't on E-Bay.
