I got a better view of television coverage of this track. I must say that the bridge area as well as the long sweeper that follows is just beautiful. I am a sucker for urban racing locales near water. The track is actually pretty lovely with the surroundings. There were complaints of that one-inch gap on that bridge area. My first thought was that most people are used to that gap when you go over stuff like huge bridges or whatever. But I'm not really sure if that can be an issue. Not as much of an issue as, say... this one American street course Trans-Am raced on in 1998 or 1999 that had speed bumps. Don't even get me started with that San Jose street course Champ Car raced as they pounded over the train tracks.

What I like about the track is that there is sufficient runoff if you overshoot the corners. I haven't seen a car French kiss a tire wall head-on or anything like that. Pretty interesting circuit. I still can't wait for the Singapore event personally, but this track is pretty nice.

Now for some off-topic stuff. Bob Varsha briefly went off-topic regarding the race in talking about going to Valencia for the Americas Cup yachting races. Then the deal kind of had a little venturing to ALMS at Mosport. Any of you who saw the second practice session on Speed a little disturbing at that point?

Meh, time is a little slower than I predicted but hopefully the track gets faster throughout the weekend. As for the 1st session, I think Vettel did a great job surprising everyone late during the session and had a stunner of a lap. 👍 But to see him drop to 16 after the 2nd session was a little heartbreaking for the Vettel fans. :( I think the new track really give everyone a level playing field, with Alonso and Button pulling off an awesome lap together and finished the session 2nd and 3rd. 👍

 was just about to say that

HOLY 🤬 Button goes 2nd.

Alonso 1st! Button 2nd!

Vettel came 1st plus 15 :(

Indeed, I wonder...how likely is a Honda to be on the first two rows after qualifying?

1st-to-16th. How could you, Vettel?!

Oh pullllease people, it's just practice. 1 million a bet that the biggest guys will show their true speed tomorrow. As so many times before, practise does not really show much. I'm pretty sure most of the drivers are running the super-light stints right now... Seriously, you really don't expect Vettel and Button challenging Raikkonen for first place in the race, were you? :odd:

I'm placing my bet on Massa.

It's a brand-new circuit. Anything could happen. ;)

Is it wrong to see a driver in a sucky car trading lap times with the big guns?

I think not. It's not going to happen in the race so we enjoy the drivers we support being at the top of the leaderboard, even if is practice.

Agreed, nothing wrong with that. I loved seeing the Force Indias on the top of the timesheets earlier on in the season as well. However, seeing some reactions from you guys, it looks like you are expecting big from your heroes this weekend. Just don't get too exited, because the bigger the dissapointment will be if they finish bad ;)👍

I'm a sucker for expecting highly of Vettel because he when he actually finishes a race he usually out does himself.

It's shaping up to be a very interesting weekend.

And I'm going to miss it :(

Two christenings to attend this weekend, so I'm going to miss qualifying too...!

Let's hope it will, I'm so exited about Toyota, tough a repeat of the last race is simply impossible. I'm just rooting for them to beat Renault 👍

I've missed the last three races, of not four, simply put: I missed out on all the best results of the team I'm rooting for... Now that's what I call "bleh!"...

I was just surprised to see Button and a Honda do anything remotely good, even if it was a practice session and even if they had run light on fuel.
My fave driver out of this years field so far is a toss up between Trulli and Vettel so I actually like to see them do well. I root for Barrichello when I can too, feel sorry for the guy after the "team orders" of Ferrari.

Ill be happy whoever wins, I just like to see the underdogs do well. However, if I have to pick a top driver that I support, it would proabaly be Massa for being the most likable (in my opinion).
So, no disappointment from me, just looking for a good and interesting race!

Same, Id like to seem them finish 4th in the championship at least.

I'm currently enjoying my driver being top in practice again after half the session. I guess it needs no more explaining :)

Boradis just went fastest by over half a second, to which Vettel beat Bourdais by a hundreth about 10 seconds later

Nakajima and Hamilton just got 1st and 2nd, and then Bourdais beat them seconds later!

As has Hamilton, and now Nakajima

Edit: Now Kubica, first man into the 38's.

Rosberg is very quick in S2, wouldnt be surprised if he gets it.
