"The holy grail of Australian motor sport"

bathurst-1000.jpg

-2008-

With only '11days' to go until the green flag drops on Australia's most celebrated motor sport event in 2009. You can be assured that every Aussie motor sport fan will have an opinion on who, could, should or will win this iconic motor sport event in 2009.

"FORD" or "HOLDEN"

It's not that difficult a pick, with only 2 options I've got a 50:50 chance of being right even if I have absolutely no background information! That's a gamble most people would be willing to take! ;)

Im a Holden fan but I would like to see DJR's Steve Johnson win it....I think they are due. Also would love to see this track in GT5p as part of update but the odds of that are certainly slimmer than 50/50 :(

Surely this thread should be the in the motorsport section? From what I can see it doesn't really have much relevance to the GT5P unless I'm missing something here.

I was thinking the same.

Is Glenn Seaton competing this year? If so I don't care what car he is in, I wish for him to win.

Hopefully Garth Tander can continue his good form from throughout the season. His and Skaife's performance at Phillip Island was very pleasing and a good sign for the 1000.

Yes it was good to see Garth's performance at Phillip Island he's a definate contender. We also can't rule out young Kelly 'BOY',And the old fella's Skaffie and his favorite sparing partner old Rusty Ingall, who as also been showing some pace...!!!:sly:

Call yourself Australian? You do realise that its the law that you must support either Ford or Holden! You can't not care.

Go Ford!

Go Holden!

Delete as applicable

EDIT: Voted :mischievous:

Well I'm always hopeful that (Not so) Mighty Murph can do something, but I highly doubt that. So yeah Tander and skaife assuming Whincup and Lowndes don't have it their way

I wonder what controversy will be upturned this year

I haven't seen the V8's race in a long time. Ever since they switched to channel 7, I always forget about it. I hope I'll remember to watch Bathurst. Best race of the year!

I'm hoping to see a Holden win also. 👍

HOLDEN! Naturally.:sly:

I thought it was spelt Seton? Anyways, last time I checked he's with HRT.:)

The
Mighty Murph does know how to win at 'the mountian'....but his form this has been patchy to say the least. And Whincup,Lowndes or Courtney could upset the 'HOLDEN' party:nervous:

Shush you!

Yep, my typo :)

Tander & Skaife, as well as Lowndes & Wincup will go in favourites, watch out for Winterbottom & Richards, and Kelly & Radisich. Im going for Murphy and Richards, showed good form at the island before they blew up... and both know how to drive around the mountian

does anyone know if a live video stream will be available somewhere?

what channel is showing it in Aus...we cant see it in the usa.

Haven't watched V8 in a while, but I must admit that the Holden pairing of Garth Tander and Mark Skaife are almost unstoppable. :mischievous:
Oh yeah, voted for Holden. :P

The V8 Supercars website has a section where you can see the video streaming of the races(Live V8). You'll probably need a broadband connection to see it though with DSL or Cable.

I also imagine YouTube has a few Bathurst related videos on there with Murph's 'Lap of the Gods' that I imagine still reigns as the Qualifying Lap record unless that has been topped in recent years. :)

V8supercars website has live streaming or Channel 7 will show on Digital and non-digital stations.

Ford One, Two, Three, if I had my wish.
1) Lowndes / Wincup
2) Johnson / Davison
3) Bright / Teammate.

However Skaife / Tander are strong this year (unless skaife stuffs the clutch and a Jack Daniels car rams up his behind again:tup:).

BTW I vote ford

I hope Holden can win this year, especially Garth Tander because he is a Perth boy.

Seeing the mountain on GT5 would be so amazing. People from overseas don't realise how much that track means to Australian motorsport.

Although I watch Bathurst every year, the V8 supercars has become bit boring lately in my opinion. I think the cars are too evenly matched. Bring on Australian touring car series with Aussie cars taking on the Germans, Japenese and American cars.

I'm banking on Lowndes and Whincup. They've won it the past two years and they've always been a pretty strong lineup for the enduro events, though they were robbed of victory at the Island.

]:)Garth's form this year has been consistent, with puts him in the top few to have a real chance at it ,in saying that "THE MOUNTAIN"is a crazy place. On race day anything could happen..!!I agree that the V8's have been a bit boring, and this year is no exception.THank god for Bathurst(Motorsport Christmas for aussie rev heads).....👍</P>

Oh, you mean the greatest lap ever done in the history of mankind?:sly:

Last time I went to Bathurst (not the 1000km, just a normal day) I was too young to remember it now. We don't realise just how quickly the track falls away coming down The Mountain.

As i'm neither a Ford or Holden man can I vote for Chrysler the pace car? ;)

lol the pace car! WEll I have always thought highly of Russell Ingall, although he is not nessesarily always on the podium...he is always pretty consistent, consistency wins Championships.;) Go Ingalls!
Also as a seperate note:
brent4booyeah

Yes that is 100% TRUE. The mountain is a very special symbol for Motorsport in Australia, I would like no other track more than to see Mount Panarama in GT5. That would be really something fantastic for Australian Fans of GT.:)
Power to PD, taking time to perfect the iconic GT series in the 5th installment....may it be all that.:D

i voted for Ford!!!!

being a ford supporter through and through.

CRAIG LOWNDES AND JAMIE WHINCUP!!!!! HAT TRICK
TEAM VODAFONE!!!!!
