Every year there are offers from Europe and America to take the V8's over, but Tony Cochrane has always said that Australasia and the Middle East are the only markets they're interested in running.
Tony Cochrane is a moron though. He doesn't know a great deal when he sees it, thinking the sheikh's are going to support the V8's more than the mecca of motorsport, the USA. This just proves that we won't get to those heights of being a world-renowned series, just a regional series.
Who does he think he is, Bernie Ecclestone?:guilty:

A few people around the forums I visit seem interested in the height difference of the track, but believe the photos and camera work make it seem bigger than it really is. I had a couple of interesting comments after I posted the following.

The difference in height from the bottom to the top of the circuit is:
~ The height of Spinnaker Tower, UK
~ The height of the Skybridge at the Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia
- Greater than the height of any building in Brazil or Chile
~ The height of World Trade Centre Mexico, Mexico
~ The height of Stade Olympique, Canada
- Greater than the height of the VAB at the Kennedy Space Centre
Yeah it really is quite the elevevation change, the commentator's don't say- 'and there beginning the climb up the mountain' for nothing. I think it really makes the trakc actually...there is nothing better in Motorsport Australia than watching the V8's roar down the Moutain!!:D:tup:...That ROOOOAAAARRR as they flow down the mountain is truly fantastic lol!

Better hold on to not only your hats, but your stomachs as well!:D I would also love to see and hear a an in-car camera shot of a lap or two of a V8 Supercar make it's assult on The Mountain.

CAM, Tony Cochrane is the anti-Bernie Ecclestone!! The way he's running the show, every single round will be on a street circuit by 2012!!!

He looks more like Mr.Slate from the Flintstones though. :P I'll post up pics in a minute with the similarities. :D

Here we go, spot the difference. :mischievous::P

I have the 1987 Bathurst highlights on dvd and the standout moment has to be Seton sliding his way up the mountain in the Nissan and Brocky winning the race from somewhere near the back (3rd on track but won due to the Eggenburger Sierras being excluded due to infringments)

I remember watching that year it was another amazing display from "BROCK"..:sly:and with the power of those Sierras it always made for good entertainment. But poor old Seton just always seemed to find bad luck at the mountain and has never won there:ouch:...may had to do with his choose of car...haha:D

[/IMG] The Gold Coast round used to be an exhibition race for the Indy cars at Surfers.but for a couple of years now has been a points race,This high speed street circuit is renowned for it's scary back straight off camber chicane!....(BP esses)

Bathurst approaches again! Brace yourselves for another Team Cheatafone victory.:P

No way. I say Tander for Pole and a HRT win. [/optimistic]

Really looking forward to Bathurst.:D Always a great 3 days of TV watching for me. 1pm friday afternoons when I see the intro, it sends shivers down my spine. It's an odd feeling.

I think either the 888 Team Vodafone car or the #2 Toll HRT car will win bathurst, they seem to be the two strong teams leading into the weekend.

My podium prediction:
  1. Whincup/Lowndes
  2. Richards/Murphy
  3. Courtney/Besnard

It is the 2008 race we're talking about, after all. :sly:
