Well as a self confessed Lowndes fan there was never any animosity felt from myself when the original change to Ford was made by Lowndes, Even though I always felt that it was backward step in Lowndes career.:sly:

And as if the Holden brand needs another good team anyway!

Now as the weather clears, the run to the finish will no doubt be a fast and furious run to the flag!

Double standards? Lowndes and Whincup start at Holden and cross to Ford, they're called traitors, they come back to Holden, where they started, now the wrongs are righted. Not that I care either way that they changed to Ford in the first place, and I certainly won't like Lowndes when he comes back to Holden, only maybe Whincup. For the record, Ford fans are already giving them hell for switching back so it's the same for either side. Really, why are you still talking, trying to put down Holden fans, when you have no legs to stand on?

Well can't people learn to accept that these drivers go where the contracts take them? Sorry to quote only your post Paulie, but why don't you all just stop fighting and enjoy a race?

On the matter of the qhole "Team Cheatafone" debate, Team Vodafone have not been proven to be cheating or using parts that creatively manipulate the rules, at least no more than any other team. Fans that attempt to argue that every time the team shows performance are pathetic, and simply seem to believe every rumour convenient to their argument. The fact of the matter is that they have some of the best drivers in the business, along with an engineering division that is frankly stellar. Other teams have started to catch up in terms of pace, but I have heard no accusations that they have started cheating to do so.

Quit with that argument, quit arguing about driver loyalty in a business situation like modern motorsport is, and simply stick discussion to constructive criticism and conversing about in-race incidents. Save the pub brawl for after the race.

While I might not agree with Lowndes and Whincup going to Holden, I at least respect the fact that they have to make the decisons that are best for their careers. If they feel their future is at Holden, so be it. But I'm willing to bet that if Triple Eight was some tinpot back-of-the-grid outfit and they annouced they were switching to Holden, Holden fans wouldn't nearly care so much. That's where the double standards lie: they wouldn't care about Triple Eight if Triple Eight wasn't one of the best teams in the sport.

My issue with Holden fans is that they assume every title and Bathurst victory is rightfully theirs because they're "more Australian" than Ford. I was utterly disgusted the year Peter Brock died and Holden fans started calling for the Bathurst outcome to be fixed so that a Holden won it. Holden might be Australian, but that attitude sure as hell isn't.

And that, however bluntly put it is, is one thing in this argument that I agree with. But even as a Ford fan (trust me, you can ask Paulie and he will assure you how anti-GM I am), I believe that on both sides of the fence fans have long been fanatics. We need to stop being so blindly supportive of our marques and start being slightly realistic about the sport. At the end of the day, V8s are becoming more and more generic, and if certain people get their way, we will be having a NASCAR-esque field of identical cars badged as Fords or Holdens. Fans need to open their eyes, on both sides.

Well senamic I wasn't representing my opinion of team loyalty, and I very much understand drivers go where they need to go, but I was simply showing how hollow interlude's argument was, it has nothing to stand on what so ever.

I don't care about 888 anyway! We still have HRT, Team BOC, Sprint Gas Racing and GRM, again you're just making up BS to make Holden fans appear evil, and I think most people can see that in your posts, you're not helping yourself.

More BS that Holden fans think Bathurst is rightfully ours, which one of your arses did you pull that out of? We simply want to win Bathurst as much as anyone else, we don't think it's rightfully ours because we're "more Australian" as you reciulously claim we think. Your arguments are just getting on the verge of hilarity now, I advise you get offline and come back when you're willing to drop it.

What that a Holden fan is more passionate follower of the team?
But even as a Ford fan (trust me, you can ask Paulie and he will assure you how anti-GM I am), I believe that on both sides of the fence fans have long been fanatics.
OR
That we are all equally as passionate as fans?

Ummmm..... Interludes, Paulie.... Can we all drop it???? We are not going to agree here, so why don't we all just enjoy the race and argue later, okay?

Edit:
What that Holden a fan is more passionate

OR
That we are all equally as passionate?

Wanting teams to fix an outcome (not saying many people wanted that, not even a few) is not passion. It is blind stupidity. Passionate fans would be saying that the teams could win without the race having to be fixed, through dedication and skill. That was my point with that discussion.

Nice one Whincup, just spin Bargwanna!!! Black flag, black flag!

What a finish! I didn't think anything would top the finish to this years Spanish MotoGP, but this not only topped it, but blew it away. Shame Murphy didn't slip by the GRM car at the end, they really deserved that podium after such an awesome run.

I am pleased, even as a Ford fan. It is a good thing that their is diversity in the sport, not just the same results year in, year out. Additionally, any race where the Kelly's aren't on the podium is a good one. I would rather any car in the field do well rather than the Kelly's.

Any car anywhere near the front at the end of Bathurst is deserving of a podium to be fair.

Bit of a boring race, got a little interesting at the end.

Really? I thought it was exciting, most exciting since 2006 I think. :) 2007 and 2008 were a bit boring I think.

I thought it was damn exciting, especially with the rain, fire and number of people in contention for a win.

Bit boring? Wasn't it like 8 SC, rain, Frosty on fire(no pun intended), beatin and bangin, and a Holden won? Can't get much better than that.

Couple of showers in the afternoon will make qualifying interesting.
And we all know that a forcast does not really mean anything when it comes to Bathurst.
The weather there is Beautifull one minute, Pouring down the next minute, then fine again. :sly:
Quoted for truth!!!;)

How cool is that brake disc camera?
At least 800 degrees Celsius?:dopey:

Joined in viewing the race at about Lap 11 and was chatting with ranhammer and RACECAR during the course of the race. I thought it was really a good race to watch even if it went for close to 7 hours. ;) Had I thought of it beforehand maybe we could have tried to set up a online chat during the race. :idea:Maybe that would still be possible for the remaining rounds of the season, don't you think?
