And randomly, Button has been attacked:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-11704802

I know they were gutted for Barrichello..but really? Button appears to get a lot of stick in Brazil, he was getting a lot booing and jeering last year too.

Just came to post this news too...

Perhaps might explain why he qualified a bit lower down!! Might not have been able to concentrate. (It says after practice - so I assume this was Midday Saturday(ish)?)

I guess one question is - were they deliberately targetting Button - or did they want to get one of the superstars (I assume for hostage/ransom) and it happened to be Button?

C.

It was after qualifying wasn't it? Therefore there's no excuse for his poor performance :sly:

Glad to see that Jenson and his crew were unharmed, but it must have been very unsettling... I heard about it watching the Stirling Moss interview on The Andrew Marr Show this morning, which included this quote: "If Lewis Hamilton wins a race, he goes and speaks to Vodafone... when I won a race, I'd be off chasing crumpet"

Wow, this thread has almost no one thinking Hulkenberg might actually pull it off tomorrow. All just "wonder how long it'll take for vettel and webber to pass him" and he obviously won't win tomorrow. Vettel won at Monza in 2008, didn't he? Fisichella almost won in 2009, didn't he?

No discredit to Hulkenberg but, you need to think more about just the facts. Monza 2008 was all wet and Vettel and the STR seemed to have the pace all weekend, as Bourdais also had qualfied high up but encountered problems in the race.

In Spa 2009 it was bone dry, and on that weekdend the Forca India was very quick and Fisi drove like a master, he had the pace throughtout the whole weekend. Kimi only won as he was almost as fast but had KERS.

Yesterday Hulkenberg was quickest then as he read the conditions and drove the best out of anybody at that moment, just because that happened it does not mean that his car is suddenly faster than it has been before.

Hulk won't win. Vettel will really fancy it turn 1. He at the very least will be past, maybe Webber. Hulk could get 3rd through.

That's what I'm hoping he can hold on for, but it depends on the conditions throughout the race and how big the melee in T1 is.

I'd like him to win because it would really good for the sport, but I also don't want him to win so that Vettel can. :D

If Vettel can win today, it'd be brilliant. He's good at Abu Dhabi too.

Congratulations to Hulkenberg for pole and button for being alive.
I remember when a gang tried to steal the toyota f1 car (A little ambitious but they tried it)

A Williams podium would be fantastic...a Williams victory......:sly::D

It really has been too long, hasn't it?

I surely have missed Williams up there. Thinking about a few years back when they were challenging for both titles with Juan Pablo and Ralf has become pure nostalgia for me. I'd even go so far as to say I miss that big, fat walrus nose! :D

Every year its been disappointing, they always finish the year better than they started it but never seem to carry the momentum. Being a Williams fan has been difficult the past 5 years! Hopefully this points to Barrichello being a major asset to the team for future seasons and they can finally build on this. All they need to do is not drop Hulkenburg!
Malaysia 2009 was the last time a Williams had a sniff of victory.

Well Singapore last year had it not been for Rosberg's mistake on pit exit he would've been second and won if anything would've happened to Hamilton.

I bumped into him at Albert Park in the support paddock a few years back. I was in a rush and turned around and knocked him straight on his ass

He was fine about it - he signed the roof of my car 👍

I like the Schumacher's.

Concerning Button's kidnap attempt, It's important to consider that the racetrack is located in one of really far districts of the city, which pretty much explains the poor police coverage on that area. And this is how we're going to organize the 2014 world cup, :yuck: you can't take Brazilian politicians seriously, no matter of what promises and proposals you listen of them, don't believe. :grumpy:

Hulkenberg is a good, but aggressive defender, so Vettel and Webber won't have it so easy getting by him.

okay.... well I planned on missing Qualy because it was at 3am local time. DAMN YOU BRAZIL!! why must you provide such interesting and valuable moments to the sport, but be on at such an obscure time? (my rant is over)
And what about all the years the championship ended in Adelaide? That would make it, oh yes, the middle of the night for everyone in Europe.

It's not just Brazilian politicians you can't trust.

Every race bar the Asian one's finish well past midnight for us. It wasn't until we got a dedicated sports channel recently that the races were shown live. A few years back every race started after midnight. You can't begin to imagine how bad our country gets ignored.

It is now 12.45am EST sunday night/monday morning and the race doesn't start for another 2 and a half hours. Happy times.

Where in Australia are you? I'm in Melbourne and bar Canadian, Brazil and the GP's in Asia they all start at 10pm and will finish by 12am. Obviously the Asian races are earlier but having to just stay up late for x2 races in the year isn't all that bad.

I'm on the border of NSW and Queensland but I've only had One HD for 6 months. The races don't start on free to air until about 11pm and if you're a tradie, getting up at 5am isn't fun.
