2011 German Grand Prix

Yes we have it bad...but hopefully Austin will make it better if their city gov't quits being stupid about it and realizes what good will come from it. The people there just dont understand why the City is making the track.

I'm looking forward to turn 1, lap 1 for sure in this one. Entirely possible that someone is going to lose their wing (other then MSc :D).

Is the weather over there as bad as in Belgium? If so we're in for some fun racing :D

I'll actually be surprised if there isn't contact at turn 1 on the first lap.

Cheers Shaun.

And if I'm correct, for the first time in Formula one there hasn't been any first corner banger after what, 9 races? Perhaps wrong?

@InvincibleM5: More then 9 races. None so far this year and none since Suzuka(?) last season.:dopey:

That maybe changed today. I'll be surprised if it's not.
Safety car on lap 1 anyone?

Way to kill your career. :D Unless they do a Brawn.
I meant to post this in the driver transfer thread. Oops.

Anyway, it's not really that big a deal - remember, Virgin have split with Wirth, and will pursue a much more traditional design process next year. And Marussia's investment in the team gives them a bigger budget (and in case there were any doubts about Marussia's commitment, they've said they intend to be on the grid in 2014 for the Russian Grand Prix). The team has already shifted focus to the 2012 car.

Thanks mate! I guess I'd go with the first lap Safety Car appearance today. The first 4 corners are pretty tight and the first hairpin could make someone in the midfield to bang...

More weather talking, the guys in Twitter saying the GP2 race held in a drying track but the sky is getting darker and darker. The race starts in 2 hours and 10 minutes from now...

I doubt Marussia put that much money into the team, certainly they are still on a lower budget than Team Lotus.
Saying they are going to be around in 2014 doesn't mean anything at all, between now and then a lot of things can change. They might plan on being around then, but that doesn't necessarily make Virgin a much better prospect..particularly for Glock.

I think this shows that Timo has few options on the table now, rather than Virgin being particularly better in the future. A shame, because he is now in the zone of being forgotten about by the top teams. I hope for his sake that Virgin do start to improve.

I hope that any one of the "new" teams can improve so that they aren't predictably filling the back 6 spots. I would love to see Lotus become even a mid-table team, just so we see them in the points. That'll be a great day, hopefully next season.

Really looking forward to today, 2-3 clear overtaking spots at least, bit of weather around, nicely mixed front 4, not a lot between them.

Before the race do the teams tell their drivers "Remember the damage is set to heavy."
Front rows will have to be careful on turn 1, to avoid a 5 second penalty after being shunted off by the midfield.

Stoked for the race... By the way... Can someone fill me in? What was in Webber's breakfast yesterday? Peppers in wasabi sauce? What a qualifying lap! I was watching it while eating dinner out and I nearly spit up my haggis!

I'm going for a Red Bull 1,2. With Hamilton 3rd, but would love Lewis to win with Button getting on the podium.

As I understand it, the locals are excited about the race.

If Webber got a bad start..Hamilton for the go...but hey, in this kind of weather, anything can happaen.

EDIT: As i thought..*facepalm*

And they're off! Alonso wins!

Great start for Hamilton... As expected... These conditions are great for McLaren...
