Am I the only one who thinks bale a slightly over rated, I mean he's a good player but he's no where near as good as people are making him out to be. If he went to a slower passing league he would be shown up as average, his pace makes him stand out in the prem.

He doesn't really do his magic with pace. For such a big player, he is able to time runs and be invisible to defenders sometimes. If you look at his goal from the Derby, he was running in the center of the pitch around 3 defenders and 1 midfielder. He cuts to the right a bit to make it look like he's going to run to the edge of the pitch then darts to the center when the pass was made and is through on goal. The defenders ignored him because they thought he was going to the edge of the pitch. It's a brilliant run if you ask me.

+1
Pace is just one of the tools he uses. Sure, he might turn to it more than the others, but who doesn't that has that much? If you watch his goals though, he has everything: he can dribble past people at a walk just as easily as sprint past them, he can shoot (off either foot, although better of his left) from practically any distance, he can (sort-of) head the ball, and he has a fantastic positional sense. Add in that he's not half bad defensively, and you're looking at a real top quality player.

Again, +1. Excellent run, excellent goal. Shambolic by Arsenal, but Bale absolutely made the most of it.

Not really bothered about the game tonight tbh...Villa win, City win or draw, the title race wont be over by the end of the night...

That was a bloody good game. Finished 1-0 City but Villa had their chances. No worries, still 12 points clear.

So what do you guys think about all this fuss being made over Rooney being left out of the XI on Tuesday night..the back pages of the Mirror is full of it saying that Fergie has lost faith in him and will be sold for £35 million in the summer..

..i, for one, think its a fuss over nothing, he was left out because he is only just back from a sinus infection he suffered around a week ago and Fergie felt he lacked a little match sharpness IMO...

So i just heard that Fergie will address the Rooney issue (if there is one!) at the pre-match press conference tomorrow...that will be interesting!

IFFHS is a load of crap. Last month they had Sporting from Lisbon rated higher than FC Porto and SL Benfica and just to give a quick explanation at how ridiculous that is, both Porto and Benfica are undefeated in the league, Porto is in the round of 16 of CL, Benfica in Europa League knocking off a German giant, both have made it far in the league cup (semis) where Sporting is hovering above relegation zone, knocked out of all competitions they competed in and the fans and media are calling for the president's head. Sporting is that bad this year yet these rankings rated them higher than the 2 Portuguese giants by a good amount last month. Makes no sense whatsoever. The club that saw some greats like Figo, Ronaldo, Nani and others is in shambles this year and IFFHS should be giving them a +200 to whatever ranking they give as they are that bad this year. So Chelsea at #1 isn't surprising to me

Didn't Rooney just play a full 90' just 2-3 days prior? Plus SAF will most likely play him this weekend for the FA cup. British media is a bit mad sometimes.

I think the press are reading too much into it to be honest. Fergie played Welbeck instead of Wazza because Welbeck scored in the first leg. At least that's why I think he did that.

The ranking obviously ranks using different arguments that one would expect. The fact that Real Madrid, REAL MADRID, is behind Boca Juniors, who lost 3-1 to a relegated team a couple of days ago says it all, really.

So at the pre-match press conference earlier SAF said theres no issue with him and Rooney and he has given his word that he wont be sold in the summer...right so thats that done with can we concentrate on the big cup game against Chelsea on sunday now please?!!

Yes please.

A buddy at work (who is a Chelsea fanatic) said, and I quote: "I just don't see any possibility that Chelsea can win", and I agree.

Not because I am an United fan, but because Chelsea is on a down period now, and United is in rather good shape, and United always comes strong back after a defeat in the Europe.

But cup is cup, and if Chelsea are having a good day, they can beat anyone, anywhere.

Hopefully it will be a great match on Sunday. Looking forward to it. 👍

Yep, plenty more examples too. I am pretty sure Chelsea does not deserve to be on that top spot even if winning the CL last year gives them an extra 1000pts

And I am sure they will be #1 after Man U beats them on the cup this weekend as well.
Wait, did I just make a prediction? Why yes I did!!

Its going to be a busy weekend of football with the 6th round/quarter-finals of the Fa cup and theres five league games as well, the pick of the league games looks to be Liverpool-Tottenham on sunday..the cup match between Man United and Chelsea is on at the same time!

I flipping hope so! we need to respond to what happened in midweek...we always respond!...didnt Chelsea lose last night?!

1-0 loss to some team I've heard jack squat about lol. Typical Chelsea. Only thing that Chelsea have going for them is, they seem to play to the level of their opponents. So, there's a slight chance we give United a game. But, the defense at United seems fixed now so, I think we won't get by the defense like last meeting.

Yeah, Steaua Bucharesti. We should beat Chelsea easily because we've had more rest and always bounce back well from a defeat in Europe.

I think itll be a tight game, we'll have a little too much for them in the end..im going 2-1 United...also i think Everton, City and Millwall will go through as well...

I'm saying 3-1 United with Everton, City and Millwall going through.

Also, good news for Swansea with Michael Laudrup signing a contract extention to 2015..Angel Rangel has also signed a new contract..we are away to West Brom tomorrow..

Wigan have just scored 2 in 2 minutes!...Everton 0-2 Wigan....

Now 3-0 Gomez!
