The BBC pundits reckon Alonso has went for a setup which is more suited to the wet than those above him.

is Vettel failing under pressure?
just asking!

He only had 1 very dry lap, 1 mistake could have been the difference between 4th and a front row start.

Wow, terrible qualifying by Fernando. And Massa did better than him AGAIN.
Tomorrow's race will be very interesting, but I see Vettel winning the WDC.

Rain/crashes/chaos/retirements really are his only hope. Even if just Vettel retired you can't see Alonso ordinarily getting on the podium. Obviously Massa will move over whenever appropriate but where are the other five faster cars going to go?

Seriously? Grosjean is such a patsy that even when Karth takes him out it's his fualt?

Anyway... For tomorrow, it is still possible for Alonso.

Webber gets the wrong clutch settings (again)
Massa goes Ninja into T1...
Alonso passes Hulk (Maldonado probably down the grid due to missing a wheighing in Q2) and may be 3rd/4th/5th depending on what happens in T1.

Can't wait!

Seriously? Karthekiyan is such a patsy that even when Grosjean no-brains into the back of Pedro de la Rosa, it's still his fault?

Hope Alonso is set up more for wet as that was a tad disappointing.

Heads up for the people make up stuff about Di resta cheer-leading and ignoring other drivers. BBC in the brief window after quali on prime time air talked to Hulkenburg and discussed him afterwards, DC called him the real deal.

Seriously, I wish people would stop wishing this sort of thing. Is that really how you want your driver to win the title, by having the other driver taken out?

1989/1990.

Still isn't right. What's with the numerous amount of crash wishes today?

Right. Same mistake by me. Wrong driver, still not Romains fault IMO.

I am NOT wishing anyone to crash. I'm atecipating Massinha will be very aggressive in his home GP. The same way I'm antecipating Webber to miss the start...

Happy that Lewis got pole, should be an interesting race. Sad that he is leaving team when they are so close to going back on top and overhauling Red Bull.

Fernando for sure has got his work cut out for him and really must be relying on luck being on his side again. Hopefully it is a fascinating race, last race was my favourite so far this season. Jenson will likely be very strong so Lewis will need to be very much on top of his game to keep him behind.

Fernando is apparently using full downforce. If the race is wet and Vettel struggles then Alonso should be in a much stronger position.

Exactly. It happens but I don't know why fans would want it to. That just made that end race a complete anti-climax and so would Massa taking out Vettel.

What are you hoping him to do then?

I think the lack of crashes causes it. And if a safety car would follow some where mid race it is to our viewing benefit.

Or rain mid race. I prefer rain mid race.

I prefer good clean racing myself, not a race dictated by weather or safety cars.

I would love mixed conditions because it could play into the hands of the slower teams.

I'm not hoping for anything. Just stating what can happen. Like Webber missing the gun, again. You did read that, and that doesn't make me a Vettel fan does it?

Yeah me too. But that is very rare in F1 nowadays. When has the battle for first been a good race, instead of the Nr 1 driving off in the distance, except for the last race.

But rain is always a good thing for F1. Always.

Agree. A wet race is always very fun and interesting to watch.
...unless rain is like Montreal 2011, lol.

Like I said earlier I like a wet race as much as anyone but I don't like it when drivers simply get lucky by changing conditions, I'd hate to see a title decided like that. It's good when everyone is on a level playing field though and talent comes into it.

I see it more as when the rain falls: who will have the best strategy and the biggest balls.
When it rains, it rains for everyone. So nobody is lucky or unlucky. Unless silly things happen, and we've seen that enough in the dry already.

Wouldn't that be nice!
A driver's championship decided by the driver's ability!
