We need the points man, I know the longer it continues like this the better it is for Liverpool but we need the point to survive!

Hull are now 3-2 up in the Cup Semi....

Chelsea score, Demba Ba :indiff:

Kudos to Liverpool for scraping out a win after looking like they were going to throw away a good lead. Some big games still before the end for them.

So does no one want to talk about how Suarez should've picked up a second yellow for that horrendous dive he took...? Or is it just not noteworthy anymore: the sun rises in the east, bears 🤬 in the woods, Suarez takes a shameful dive. It's so frustrating to watch because he's a top talent but he just drags himself through the mud constantly....

Yes, he dived.

But why single Suarez out? Players do it all the time and don't get carded. If refs handed cards out with some level of consistency maybe it would stop, but they don't. To single out Luis is just sour grapes.

Suarez should have been sent off and City should have been awarded a Penalty for the Skrtel punch/handball.

Well Chelsea win...and Hull are through to the FA Cup final so congratulations to them!

Yeah he dived, I'm not going to defend him for that, not cool to see. However, your comment "but he just drags himself through the mud constantly..." sounds like you think he dives every game ?

Well that isn't the case, sure he ain't perfect and plus with his past reputation he is a easy target.

I'll be honest though, I thought he was going to do something reckless today. He was so emotionally up for this you could see that, that clumsy tackle he made to get a yellow, which was rightfully deserved.

He's definitely abit lucky to stay on the field today, as on another day he could have got a yellow for that dive. But hey sometimes you need abit of luck to go your way, just remember though, there has been times this season where we didn't get the rub of the green when it came to the decisions aswell.

I guess it all evens out at the end of the season.

I wouldn't single him out by any means. Ashley Young is just as guilty, so is [insert player here] but the issue is this: refs and fans both say they want to be tough on diving. A big player on a yellow in a big game takes a blatant dive. Nothing happens.

Thats the problem. Everyone says they want diving out of the game, then something like this happens and calling the player out is 'sour grapes'? If you want to send a message and be tough on diving, what better way then by sending off a star player in a big game for a blatant dive?
Would it have 'ruined' this game? Probably. Would Suarez have had anyone to blame but himself? No. The lack of action sends a message just as much or more than sending him off would have, and it's the message that supposedly no one wants to send.

I don't think he dives every game any more than a lot of players do. Everyone in the game now seems to go down cheaply pretty often, and Suarez is surely as guilty of that as any number of other players but I'm not saying he takes flops like the one today in every game.

What I meant by that was it seems like as soon as people start to forget about his last high profile dive, or bite, or racist slur, or handball, or whatever, he does something else to put himself in people's minds for all the wrong reasons, when he should be there for all the right ones.

Surarez is one of the best players in the world. Unfortunately, that's not always the first thing that comes to mind when his name is mentioned. That's all I meant by that.

Edit: sorry double post.

Luis has been faultless this season... If anything, he's stayed on his feet when he could have easily gone down and got a pen/free kick time after time.

But no one recognises that. They just wait until there's an opportunity to criticise and jump straight in.

For me, the only 'top player' that can stand with his head held high when diving is mentioned is Messi.

I think it is a skill to have though, being aware of who is around you and what not. Yeah he does sometimes look for free kicks and what not, however for the most part they are proper fouls on him, as all I see is defenders being clumsy and reckless on him. However, there have been times when he doesn't get them though.

I think when the season comes to an end, I can tell you they sure as hell are not going to remember him diving against Man City today. He's done alot more positives than negatives this season, plus today the dive wasn't really a talking point because of things going on today for obvious reasons.

Well it will be different for different people on that matter to be honest. Yeah he has made some awful decisions on the pitch the way he has conducted himself in the past, but it is a healing process. He's just a very emotional character, wears his heart on his sleeve.

I'd like to see the FA take a harder line on blatant diving.

They could set up panels of competent personnel to review all matches and hand out heavy fines with the added punishment of suspension for repeat offenders.

The FA having competent personnel? Dont make me laugh! If there was such a system or something similar being introduced, Neymar would never play again!

Neymar is far from the worst culprit. Bale last season for Spurs was considerably worse.

I remember the World Cup in 1990. I remember all the press in the UK going mental because of all the Italian players diving - and I remember that whenever we played football at school we'd all do theatrical dives, not to draw fouls but just because it was funny. I remember Jurgen Klinsmann being absolutely pilloried for it and then he turned up at Spurs in 1994 and used it as a goalscoring celebration (in his first match... against Wednesday!).

And now, 20 years later, we're talking about which top players don't dive?

Yes, it’s a shame the game has changed. The Italian and Spanish leagues are still worse than the Premier League though.

The opportunity is there for FIFA and the FA to give refs more guidance, but not sure if they have the will.

Di Maria, i hate to say this because i love him, but he is one of the worst divers i have seen in a while, along with Young, Ronaldo, Bale of last season and Neymar this season. I like Neymar, and i know he is not the worst offender but he is up there among the worst.

It genuinely makes me sad that in such a beautiful game we have such a disgrace in diving. The referees rarely do anything about it. I can't be the only one who gets mad when any player dives in the middle of a good match. It should be a straight red card for any blatant dive IMO.

Three league games on in the week, Arsenal v West Ham tomorrow live on Sky, Everton v Crystal Palace and Man City both on Wednesday neither of them are televised as Sky are showing the Copa Del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona...

I guess that's what I'll be watching Wednesday then. I think Real will win it because Barcelona have lost twice in a row and will be lacking confidence. I can also see it being a heated game, just like last years final.

I didn't say who Man City are playing, they are at home to Sunderland, I can see West Ham causing an upset tomorrow, Arsenal will still be a little drained after Saturday and they have a few injuries and players doubtful for the match...

I watched the Liverpool - Man City game in the pub with my Liverpool-supporter mate yesterday, and boy was it some spectacle. The day was pretty surreal anyway, as the whole pub fell silent before the game. I felt sorry for the poor bugger who came into the pub half way through the silence, only to be greeted by the stares of approx. 100 Glaswegian men standing in silence... that must have been weird. My mate was eating a mixed grill during the first half and accidentally spat out half a sausage as Liverpool scored the first goal, hitting the group of guys beside us - fortunately they saw the funny side. He also punched me in the arm with a 🤬 steak knife clenched in his hand at the time in celebration. What is even worse is that he did it again when Liverpool went two up, but without the knife/potential stabbing incident that time.

The second half was a roller-coaster ride - so much so that my mate actually left when Liverpool regained the lead, unable to watch the remainder of the game. I had to text him to tell him when the game was finished. Steven Gerrard's reaction at the final whistle was one of those sporting moments that I won't forget in a hurry - a genuine display of passion and raw emotion, it was really something special to see. I'm not a Liverpool fan, but I think they deserve the title this year. And they have reason to believe - Sturridge was uncharacteristically useless yesterday and Suarez was quiet, despite his awesome pass that set up the first goal. But with Sterling and Gerrard on song, they still pulled off a spectacular win. So long as Suarez can keep injury and suspension free, and Sturridge finds his game again, I wouldn't bet against them winning the title this year.

Suarez and Sturridge have actually been rubbish in our last two games and we still scraped two victories. That really says a lot for a supposed one man, then two man team. You can say Gerrard has dragged us the last few games but in reality, the entire squad has been tremendous. Skrtel (a center back) has scored 5 in this winning run of 10 games, Suarez has scored in big games for once, Sturridge had an 8 game goal streak, Sterling had an insane amount of composure for a 19 year old yesterday and has continued to impress, and Mignolet has pulled off some cracking game changing saves. I predicted us to finish 5th at the start of the season, at Christmas I'd have bitten your arm off for 4th, but this season has turned into something quite special. I just hope we can finish the job, and that Chelsea and City slip up to ease the pressure. If we win the title this year, it will be second only to Arsenal's entire season unbeaten in terms of Premier League achievements. 7th to 1st in one season with limited transfer funds would be unbelievable.

As brilliant as they have been this season, I refuse to judge the new SAS until they can do it again next season.

Man City and PSG might see a stiff penalty and a year long ban from the transfer market for breaking the new Financial fairplay rules.

Still 4 games to go, but at least our destiny is in our own hands

And everyone of them are going to be just as emotional as last Sunday :nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous::nervous:
