Santi Cazorla and Robert Pires giving it to Tottenham

Vidic has had his appeal rejected and will serve a three match ban starting tomorrow night and there was a lot of stuff on Twitter last night about Mata and United saying we will be making a massive £37 million bid for him and that got on to many of the back pages today, United had to make a statement saying its not true...I don't think Mata is the sort of player we should be going for, he is too similar to Kagawa and Rooney, I think we should be going for players like Reus and Vidal...

Seeing that we're consistently playing a 40 year old winger and a CB in midfield, I would have to agree with you on Vidal.
Never happening though, the old lady would never let him go.
We'll probably sign Leon Osman for 25m on the last day of the tranfer window

Can't see Chelsea selling to a title rival :grumpy: United either, and he's not the player we need right now.

He apologized on Twitter saying he did not read it, but all 3 including the girl are legends now

Re-Mata doubt Chelsea would sell (although they won't play United again) as for United not needing him,Disagree United need more world class players.

It's like Arsenal not needing Ozil when we signed him, when there is a chance you can sign a player like that, you do it with your eyes shut.

Mata plays in the hole behind the striker, as does Rooney and Kagawa, three in to one position doesn't go...

Mata would probably improve the team, but not as much as a decent CM or CDM would. Could probably do with another winger as well.

That's an interesting read. Wonder if United would let him go considering the whole saga regarding Rooney.

play Mata behind Rooney and RVP or sell Kagawa, like I said before if he is for sale United should buy but for 40 million? no.

Cazorla cost less than 20,40 million is Ozil quality Money.

I do agree though that other positions should be taken care off first.

Seems like a drastic and uncalculated move for United, to be honest. Makes me wonder who has the most influence on this pursuit, and if that person is Moyes. If so, I have to say that I question his judgment.

Sky Sports news are saying that United have made a £40 million move for Mata through a 'third party'....40 mill!, I know Mata is a great player but is that a bit much for him?!

Hey, what was the price of Fellaini again?

£27,5 mill was it? Ridiculous...

SSN are adamant that its true though...but what is a third party anyway? I can only imagine its the Mata's agent but I think you can only make a bid through the club, im sure there's a law there somewhere...

BBC are saying £35 million. Still a bit much though. I do hope we sign him though. He's a great talent.

I've got mixed feelings about this, like I said before I still don't think he is a player we really need but it would galvanise the entire club like Ozil did at Arsenal, if we do sign him then I hope Moyes finds somewhere in the team for him...also it would break our transfer record...

I HIGHLY doubt that Mata is going anywhere. If he is going to leave, it will not be to a competitor in the league. Mata is not the kind of player to go to a mid table team (this season), if he is really looking for World Cup Play time, he will work hard at the currently better club to impress. That will put him much higher in the Spanish Managers list than going to a club struggling to get Euro League at the moment.

What's funny about United situation is that many of their players will take a 25% pay cut if they don't make Champions League. 2 things come to mind. 1. The players must be trying to keep that 25% of money and are clearly just not good enough. 2. How many will leave after losing a good chunk of their money.

That also makes this more questionable to me - spending 35M on a player who in reality is not going to fix their situation in any way, and all the while when they may also lose a lot of money by not getting into the CL. It makes this financial irresponsibility that much worse.

I'm sure Mata will net them a hatful of goals in the Championship...

He will probably get 6 against Sheffield Wednesday Famine....

Yeah, but you'd expect that - our squad hasn't even cost a tenth of a Mata.

Hope it wont distract the team form the task in hand tonight....C'MON UNITED!!!

United is not competing for the title this year.
Also, we play City and Arsenal later on so strengthening United could actually be in Chelseas best interest.

We're talking about Manchester United, not Chelsea :sly:

Not believing anything until it is on BBC. Which it's not yet. Chelsea even made a statement yesterday that he was not for sale.

You guys have money whores, don't worry. They'll come out after the end of the season. We already know one, RVP.

Nostradamus over here...

United XI:

--------------De Gea---------------

Rafael----Smalling--Evans----Buttner

---------Carrick-----Fletcher--------

Januzaj-------Kagawa--------Welbeck

-------------Hernandez--------------

I hope Kagawa plays centrally and Welbeck on the left.

Yeah take it with a pinch of salt, Graeme is reliable but sometimes gets it wrong.

Over Half an hour gone, 0-0 is the score, United had one or two good chances but Sunderland look pretty good...

Yes! Jonny Evans 1-0!

Martin Tyler just said that Mata will have a medical tomorrow ahead of a £37 million move....
