There's a loophole in FFP though that Man City are using. Man Citys owner has something to do with Etihad Airways who sponser Man City, so they can just say the players have been bought through sponsorship money, therefore there is no actual money from the club being spent.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! 👍 A bit of a flawed system as most teams in European Football have a Title Sponsor.

It's not a knee-jerk reaction
Defeatism then.

I'm not saying you should count your chickens before they hatch, but this sort of excaggerated pessimism, even though it might be justifiable in light of Arsenal's recent history, is OTT considering the results this season.

Just my two cents.

United Supporter.

Understandable, except that we have the combination of a completely different run of upcoming games in terms of difficulty and timespan, paired with our worst injury situation of the season. League position thus far is not necessarily as relevant in this case.

Speaking of Money City, just curious if anyone knows how they are going to fare with the Financial Fair Play Rule. The amount of money they have spent this year without selling any major players, I find it really hard to believe they are playing by it. Chelsea came out and said they were struggling to meet it's regulations and we've spent a fraction of what City has.

Ivan Gazidis of Arsenal kept saying Arsenal are just watching with optimism regarding this, so you never know but surely their spending has to stop, it's laughable really.

Liverpool just drew 1-1 with West Brom, WBA had a good second half where they got their equaliser through Anichebe with the assist form Kolo Toure! Sturridge got the Pools goal, they weren't at their best

That result now means that Liverpool stay fourth with United now 7 points off when we could've been 9 points off...

....Arsenal-Palace up next

Arsenal win 2-0 with two goals form the Ox and they are back at the top, 18th time the lead at the top has changed this season!

If I was going to look for a bit of damage control, I could say that many other teams around us dropped points this weekend.

So apparently Vincent Tan has told Soelskaer that he will be sacked if he doesn't win the SuperBowl tonight.

I thought we were too slow in the first, but in the second half we looked like a different team. Much more speed about our play and we quickly grabbed an early goal. Ox, Koscielny and Mertesacker were fantastic today, Arteta was much better and Rosicky was brilliant when he came on, adding more pace to our tempo.
A shout out for the Palace fans today as well, they were brilliant all game and every one of their fans made a tremendous amount of noise, even the bloke a row in front of me said "bloody hell, they're loud!" I spoke to one of the many Palace fans on the tube as well and he seemed like a nice bloke 👍

Although my stance hasn't changed, I'm in a happier mood today as opposed to the last couple of days.

They have an incredible Ultras, having been part of an Ultras for a year I am glad fans like Palace are taking it to England, they are well behaved as well

I am all for 'ultra' fan groups as the bring so much noise and colour to the game. However, most groups seem to be involved with violence (Napoli, Lazio, Lyon, Galatasaray etc.) which I'm absolutely against. I'm very happy with Palace's ultra group as I don't recall them getting violent or anything and as I mentioned earlier, they make a brilliant amount of noise.

As far as forming ultra groups in England is concerned, it is mighty difficult. For one, ticket prices for many clubs are sky high, which means many people cannot afford to visit the grounds regularly. This stops any group really being formed as fans will keep appearing and disappearing, so to speak.
Also, there is the 'seat allocation' issue. At all clubs in England, you MUST sit in your seat (or at the very least stand next to it). This means that there is a mixture of fans who do want to sing and those who don't in the same areas of the ground, so many fans who would normally sing in the company of other like-minded fans may not if they are the only one willing to make noise within a certain radius. If all the fans who did want to sing could walk to a certain area of the ground, this wouldn't be an issue, but safety laws have made that impossible.
Finally there is the issue of corporate clients/tourists, who don't necessarily support the team, but are at the game for entertainments sake. Most of these people won't sing, so that just dilutes the atmosphere even more. :(

It's such a shame that I cannot experience the 'proper' English football atmosphere due to the so-called safety laws, but I am very grateful that clubs like Palace have fans that are willing to make an effort 👍.

The tale of the Green Brigade should be the hand book for how Ultras within the UK will go. They always get too ahead of themselves and unlike in other countries, the board will just have none of it.

Who holds the record for the most clean sheets ever? Not just Celtic? I think I recall Van Der Sar doing 900 odd minutes. So rare for that sort of streak, to have a solid defence, and keeper, with no slip ups, no power free kicks, no penalites and no lucky goals. Even against the best teams.

Massive game tonight, I can see Chelsea playing for a draw, cant see them beating Man City at the Etihad!

Your midfield and defence are fine its just you haven't got enough going forward, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts with no strikers like he did at Old Trafford....

I'm thinking Jose will go with a 4-3-3.

Cech, Ivanovic (I prefer Azpilicueta), Terry, Cahill, Cole, Lamps, Mikel (Matic should play here IMO), Ramires, Hazard, Eto'o, Oscar.

I can't really see us being able to keep Nogredo and Dzeko out for 90 minutes to be honest. Our defense has been solid but, City has been eating defenses for fun.

Some people are calling tonight's game El Ca$hico!

I think Citys weakness is defence, they have a beast in Kompany but he hasn't got a settled partner, the three other CB's are injury prone..

I'm hoping for a Chelsea win or at least a draw tonight. Need as much of a gap as possible on City with our difficult run of games coming up 👍

Love to wake up and see a clean sheet as well as 3 points! Really wanted to watch the game but, they decided not to broadcast it here in Japan for some bizarre reason. 35% possession is a bit worrying but, 6 shots on target versus Citys 3, I'll take that.

Going to be a tight race to the end I believe.

Great to see City lose, shame it doesn't happen often these days!

Andy Carroll has just lost his appeal against his sending off v Swansea...
