Yeah, another bonehead move by a Mercedes Driver today :( Vietoris this time --- but it's on an Audi, so I don't mind as much

Spengler didn't take his penalty for turning Jamie Green round did he?

edit: Anyway, scrappy race. BMW will still lead all three titles, but Audi are still within reach of the Manufacturers title.

I will be on the edge of my seat for Hockenheim 2.

Post race penalty for Juncadella

.. means Joey Hand got a point .. whoop. Takes Team RBM up one point ahead of Gooix Mercedes.

Juncadella penalised
The result of the DTM race at Zandvoort was amended. The reason is a penalty that was given to Daniel Juncadella after the race. According to the stewards of the meeting, the Mercedes-Benz driver had caused Augusto Farfus’s crash. For the incident, the Spaniard was given a 30 seconds’ time penalty. Thus, the 23-year-old drops back from eighth to 17th place.

Moreover, warnings were issued to Daniel Juncadella, his fellow-Mercedes-Benz-driver Robert Wickens; Augusto Farfus, Bruno Spengler (both BMW) and Audi drivers Mike Rockenfeller, Edoardo Mortara and Timo Scheider, because they had used the DRS at a wrong time. An explanation: in the first three laps after a safety car intervention, it is not allowed to activate the adjustable rear wing. Nevertheless, the drivers were only given warnings, because after the race, it became apparent that the computer system installed to prevent the use of the adjustable wing at certain times, didn’t work correctly.

DTM Finale, less than an hour to go before it starts.

Marco Wittmann has already won the drivers championship, BMW Team RMG have won the teams title, but the Manufacturers title is still up for grabs... BMW lead at the moment, but Audi aren't far behind and have qualified well this weekend.

So the 2014 season is over and there is quite a bit of talk about the changes for 2015. What do you guys think about the proposed changes? The biggest two being discussed are probably:

- Dropping the option tires in favor of only one compound.

- Change to a 2 races format during an event weekend.

2 races format is not a good idea, best thing they could do is remove qualifying and have a reversed championship order grid, no gimmicks just the best driver will certianly be the winner of that when they have to overtake the field to be 1st.

Everytime this is used in league races it provides an infinitely better race and no one feels robbed.

Problem is everyone is used to the boring layout of having the fastest first which is naturally going to bring the worst race possible from a grid layout.

I don't like the idea, why should a driver be punished for doing well? With DTM cars not being easy to pass with (disregarding the BS tires from this season) I don't see that idea being very successful.

If they're insistent on adding a second race, they could do a FIA GT style qualifying race Saturday, worth half points. Or GP2 style; main race Saturday, the reverse top 10 race Sunday with less points.

Really though, DTM needs to not go down the F1 route of endless gimmicks. (Although with DRS and wacky option tires, they're almost there. All they need are phalluses on the hood and double points).
