I got a small improvement down to a 2'16.648, only one more second to go. :dunce:

About force feedback I'm on the standard PS3 settings on my GT3RS.

I want to share a concern for owners of older G27s, they slowly wear out and become progressively more loose. It wasn't until I recently replaced mine that I realized how inaccurate it had become. I know new wheels ain't cheap, but if GTA means enough to you, it might be worth it to invest in a new G27.

i've been using G27 for almost 1 year since GT6 (I was a DS3 user in GT5), not realizing the "loose" thing at the moment…….how old was your old G27 before replacing a new one??

And by the way, if it becomes loose some day, do not replace it with G27 again, Logitech has discontinue the support on their racing wheel business, and i believe that coming racing titles (eg. GT7) on next gen console will not be supported, Thrustmaster T500 RS is in my first priority list.

that's quite a big investment for gt7 if g27 is no longer supported....ps4, the game, new wheel....

i cant seem to get the first corner right, im consistantly losing 0.3-0.5 seconds :( if i get on the power too soon the car spins out, if i give power slower i lose time. tried trail braking, hand braking cant seem to get it right, getting pretty frustrated. sitting at 42nd in canada so far.

I am curious as to what wheel the top guys are running and also as to what FFB setting you are running? @Doodle, @VindictiveScrub, @outlaw4rc, @Adventuruss and company - I'd love to get some answers.....
This is my wonderful setup:

Wheel: Driving Force Pro (no bungee cord on the brake)
Attached to: Desk (Sometimes)
Sitting on: Worn out leather office chair with high seatback
Feedback: 5

Just put in a three hour session. I had nothing for almost all the session until I hit a 15.308 which was .001 faster than my prior PB. Then on my final run, I started with a 16 flat for lap one, only to have a horrendous sector 1. Kept going and I somehow blasted past my ghost for a 15.274 lap. I still kept going and for a moment, the gap for a 14.9xx was there. A few small mistakes and the stupid bus stop meant a 15.256 for the day. I might put those two laps on YouTube. :D

Well, I've had plenty of opportunities today to drop my time into the 14's, but just keep making small mistakes and now my driving is plain bad. Time for a break :banghead:

As for the academy - I am really hoping that I can figure out what my issues are, knocked .8 off my best, which is still a dismal 19.197 (over 4 seconds off the pace). Did that on my first lap and just keep getting slower and slower. First sector is ok, can be between .1-.4 slower than @Doodle but lose out massive amounts of time in the second sector and just maintain the gap in the third..

Again, I'd like to get a little survey/input as to the wheel and FFB setting you guys are using please.

Thanks,

Don

My G27 had several years of hard use. I wore out a G25 before that. Now I'm rockin' a Fanatec GT3RS and am really happy with its performance, good price too with the Elite pedals. There's some good threads here on GTP that discuss all of this and more. 👍

Just finished a quick 15 minute run...I thought my skills literally improved leaps and bounds overnight when I went from a 17.7 to a 16.8 until I realised I had ABS ON!!! :banghead:

Out of curiosity, I unplugged the wheel and gave this combination a go with the DS3. Grant you, I was a pretty fast guy with the pad but I stopped using it starting with GT5.

If there's one advantage with the pad, turn in is quite sudden (I wish the car would do that with the wheel at the bus stop). The downside is what many others had said - Eau Rouge and Blanchimont is an absolute nightmare. The nose immediately washes out big time if you try going at or near full throttle. There's probably a way to make it work but I wouldn't even know where to begin. Throttle management is much less precise as well. At some spots, I literally resorted to jabbing the right nub up a few times because I wanted three quarters gas but I could only get half. At least in Spa, my DFPro is a Porsche compared to the Reliant Robin that is the DS3.

Suffice it to say, I could only run around the 19s.

Did about an hour of this last night, managed to improve by 4 tenths and do a 2:16.163, i know where to find time too! Just don't know how people are getting into 14's let alone 15's haha

@Mini Stiggy @DBY___86 @outlaw4rc @carracerptp :cheers:
Thanks for the replys guys, I think I figure it out but the handbrake is faster:lol: so if it´s faster a man got to do what a man got to do, handbrake all the way.
Yesterday was a litle frustrating, no improvement and now i'm fourth:grumpy: and all the eligible places in Portugal are within .408:nervous: only 7 go to the final...
Well, today is another day, after 7 there is, till then lets sell some cars:lol:

Edit: Did you guys check the India leaderbord? 46 entrys? Is settle guys,India here i come.....lol

I only bought a DFGT two weeks ago and, after being a die-hard DS3 user for as long as I can remember, cannot believe how much more fun and rewarding it is to pump in a good lap with the wheel!

I spent an hour on it last night and got my time from 2:20.1 to 2:18.5 - nowhere near the top guys but I'm having fun learning the different lines and feeding the throttle. Once I'm in the 16s/15s I'll be happy.

I wish I had the coin and the space to invest in a racing rig but my set up ain't too bad; a bean bag, two 15kg weights to weigh down my wheel on the table and my feet to go under it (a cheap man's cockpit), the look on my missus' face when she came in last night was priceless!

I've resigned myself to just learn the ropes this year and give it the full beans for next year's GTA.

Grrrrr:mad:. I am faster than almost all the ghosts I use through the high speed, and some of the mid speed corners. But I miss out on at least .5 in the 🤬 bus stop. If I could figure this stupid corner out, I could be at a mid-low 15:banghead:. This is now my least favorite corner:crazy:.

:grumpy:

To be honest I think it will be a gimmick that dies quickly. (a bit like Kinect and Move)
Well.....smartphone without button was a gimmick before when Apple produced it as a first commercial product in the world, of coz the VR will not be popular overnight but I see it as an important peripheral in the future gaming industry

Try 2nd in the final right and early on the throttle. Nail your braking point also.

Yes of course everything is possible, I'd love to experience to see if I want to own it but so far nothing seems to interest me. /bit off topic sorry for that.

I use second the whole way through. My biggest 2 problems are braking at the right time, and I somehow I lose a lot of time in between the right and left. It's like everyone can carry more speed through the middle section of it than me. Are you guys flooring it as soon as you hit the first apex, and then braking immediately after for the second apex, or do you coast through(can't watch replays ATM)?

My braking point is just before the horizontal white line. I'm not the fastest but I don't floor it straight away I just try to get a good angle through the 2nd corner get as much of a good exit.

Got back in the seat today after being out of it since Monday. Strangely I was forced to turn ABS up to 1 (usually I like to run 0) because I couldn't get the rotation. Normally without ABS you can get more rotation but something about this car means that if I brake as late as I do with ABS 1 I just understeer into the corner .

Anyway, didn't mange to improve simply because I couldn't string together a lap, will try again tomorrow. But still currently aiming for a high 2:15.

AAAHHHHHHHHH 15.007. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: Was set for a 14.8xx but then spun up the rears ever so slightly in the first corner of the bus stop. Nnngghhh, well, at least I'm first in the U.S. for now, but man I'm angry about that mistake. @Doodle, @GumballCGT, Knock me down a peg :P

Now I need to sleep... up until 3am playing GT when I have to be at work at 9... oh well

I thought you'd be happy to be ahead of me. :P. I won't be able to give it another go until Friday so enjoy it while it lasts!
