I'm not talking about the "Live Timing" splits where it's only accurate to the tenths place. For most the of laps on my spreadsheet I've downloaded the replays and scraped the accurate splits out of the replay.
Yes, I get that. I just wanted to vent that we didn't have to do this in the past with GT5. I know the space on screen is cramped but it would be nice to have that detail more readily accessible.

Speaking of splits, my S1 turned out to be a PB. Damn. That means I have to duplicate it for any good chance for improvement. Really hard for me given how wobbly my wheel is already and how Rouge often makes my wheel slide around or even off my desk. I may end up snapping my Pro in two based on how hard I have to push it forward.

Ok Patrick, what I meant was that there is not the intensity level like there is here due to what is at stake here. I know there are great racers that compete there and am in no way taking anything away from the WRS in terms of its participates. I can go there and compete, on a friendly basis, and learn at my own pace without the pressure of what we have here in having to push yourself beyond your personal limits in a short amount of time. I still have a lot to learn and still need a lot more practice and I think going back to the WRS is the best bet for me at this point and time. That is all I meant by my statement. It seems you have taken my statement out of context and saying that I was trying to take away the competitiveness of the WRS. That is not the case at all. I just need to go back and learn and practice more, that's all.
No, I understood, which is why I used the wink emoticon. Just having some fun.

So it looks like there was a lot of discussion about the differences between the wheel/pedal packages vs. the DS3...I've come to terms that i am not going to progress any further without a wheel, so I am going to start getting ready for next year soon, by getting a wheel.

IF money was no option, what is the best combination? Logitech, or Fanatec, or other? also, is the G27 a good option(is the feedback as good as the german fanatec)? i've done my fair share of comparison between the manufacturer websites, but i'd like some actual player accounts. any help would be great.

looks like Fanatec is the best quality but you guys should have better reviews.

Thank you in advance.

Thrustmaster T500RS, no question is the best wheel currently available. The "new" T300 seems like it will be a pretty good wheel as well, but without knowing the price point and looking at the pedal box - I'm not sure I'd consider it. The T500 is also the wheel they use at the National Finals, so it's not a bad idea to have that consistency of operation under your belt. I am not a fan that the "stock" T500 paddle shifter don't rotate with the wheel, but you can't have everything I guess!

Good luck with the hunt for a wheel, it completely transforms the experience of the game!

T300 (as mentioned in the article) - 370 bucks + "rotating paddles" :)

Oh, I didn't see the price there.. Well for that difference in price, I would personally still go with the T500. In reading the article (although missing the price part), the T500 "wheels" are compatible with the T300, so it would make sense that the T300 wheel could be fitted to the T500 with the quick release function.. That being said, the Ferrari GT wheel is something that I've been wanting to get for awhile now - not terribly excited about the Ferrari F1 wheel, even though I am a fairly big F1 fan.

I did a short session early this morning, and after 20 minutes managed the worldwide #1 time :)

View attachment 165151

I spent another half an hour later on and am currently down to a 2:16.068 for 6th in the UK, 39th worldwide. I anticipate potentially having to knock a second off that to actually qualify, though.

I'll probably wait until tonight to gather any leaderboards, once they've settled down a bit.

I have pretty much lost hope of continuing my gold medal for every event streak :( I got a 2:21:045 and nearly destroyed my controller afterwards lol. I tried for hours yesterday and the closest I got to my best lap was 2:21:124..... So close yet so far away I've golded all the other GT Academy events and now this one looks like its going to be the one that got away. Mad as hell. BTW this course now according to GT6 is my favorite course as I apparently have racked up 1,900km just from this event...

Don't give up hope yet my friend, there is still time. Just relax for a bit and envision it, and it will come. And only 1900 km?...I have well over 3000 miles now just for this event. Good luck mate, you can do it. 👍

EDIT: Just inproved another .242, down to 2'16.441 for 86th place regionally atm. Heading in the right direction....finally. My confidence remains high, look out cuz I'm coming through guys. Seriously though, still an awfully long ways to go. :indiff: And again, thanks for all the help everyone, wherever I finish, I owe it all to the good people here in the community, you all have been my guiding light.:bowdown::bowdown:

In the brief time I used the T500 during Finals, I quickly decided that even if someone gifted me one, I'd leave it in the box. Rubbery feel and paddle shifters so far away that they must have designed it for Edward Scissorhands. Quality is also not up to snuff for what you pay for it. Not worth buying anyways because you won't know how they'll set the feedback and the bigger issues is getting comfortable in those pods... but I digress.

I would already have a G25/G27 except my worries of support past GT6 and how stubborn my Pro is about continuing to work.

Really, they don't allow you to set the FFB and/or won't tell you......? What's the issue with the pods if I can ask?

Well I had a sneaky look last year whilst having a race against the press.. it was set to 5 FFB and amateur... AMATEURS!

I think the "amateur/pro/sim" setting is only applicable to the DFGT and one other wheel if I recall the in game screen correctly. The FFB setting may be interesting though, I currently use 10 so maybe I should change that in preparation for the possibility to make the semi finals....

It says it is compatible with the T500RS 3 pedal system. Lots of people sell their T500 pedals due to PC racing only and wanting a load cell brake i.e. Fanatec.

I feel your pain. I have spent the last few days torturing myself with this event with a DS3 and I am not able to get the gold or the car. I've been doing this event from Day One, I believe a little over a week now, and have probably more than a thousand red laps and still going. I will not quit even if I have to steal this car, wherever it may be. LOL I wish they would just give it to you for silver or even bronze. I don't think it's fair to DS3 users to have to gold this 🤬🤬🤬🤬 event. Ok, now back to it. My rant's over for now... Good luck. Hopefully more DS3 users will get the car.

do use think they would make a wheel like the G27 or G29 what ever they call it for ps4? when i seen the T300 with only 2 pedals it didnt make me think it was so good i want a clutch just for the fun n also i like me padle shifters too move with the wheel :)

600km session of no ABS. Down to a 2.16.753 but lost so much time in the 2nd half of the lap... a low 2.16'0 was probably on the cards until about Pouhon onwards... Oh well at least I'm on study break

I saw a video from Sim Racers (?) YouTube channel with a relatively simple adapter that someone made for the T500 that allows for full use with PC. Seems like a lot of the people use it with iRacing....?

All the rigs are set (hopefully) before you have a go, true for just about any set in a public area. Don't recall if someone asked last year about the feedback setting but it doesn't hurt to bring up that question. Either way, it's still a wheel - I got used to it fairly quickly. The paddles had me literally turning with one hand just to change gears, though.

There's pictures of the pods floating out there. It's a really nice rig but the fit's designed for short people. I'm only 5'11" but I had to spread the legs wide just to touch a quarter of both pedals. That was all I needed, though. Even Boris Said was able to drive the rig... somehow.

Finally feeling like I have a Race Car under me, which I did not think was going to happen w/ this combo. Gained almost a half sec on the board to 2:18.964. Finally seeing where I can pick up the pace and starting to see great things in the red...or blown by da cone  ...the potential for more is there...we'll see. Having to keep one eye on the radar is not helping. Thunderstorms are rampant this time a year. We've lost power twice in the past few days.:banghead:

As far as the complaints about the "Rubber" on the T500. I can't see what could possibly be any better than the quality and durability of it. It's totally comfortable and I couldn't be happier. Of course I do have a light grip, I've had mine since rnd2 and haven't even come close to blistering hands.

...and as far as the paddle shifters. Uh, I have never owned a gaming wheel and never really used MT for any gains in a TT till now, so don't have anything to compare to. But, IMO I have had zero probs and haven't ever missed a shift since I have been using it. I could see though if you are used to the paddles moving w/ the wheel, it could be a mental pain to remember they are stationary. If you were to convert, it would take you no time at all to get used to it though.

I give up! I really wanted that car too. can't get any faster with my DS3 than 1:22:788. And that was the one time i made it thru Eau Rouge FLAT OUT! All my Other Consistent times are in the 23's....

Only run for about 20 minutes last night (very tired after getting off a plane), and about half an hour tonight. Losing a few tenths in the first corner alone, just not comfortable getting back on the power soon enough. Plenty of time left in the middle sector too. I think realistically, I can find a low 2:16 somewhere in there, maybe high 2:15
