Another great day for Leicester, Mahrez goal was brilliant, as was the Kane goal, Newcastle were abysmal....

Two stupid fouls by Mata, no idea what he was thinking off, and all the promise shown over the last two weeks has suddenly been forgotten, such a disappointment today.

How lucky were Liverpool, had Milner sent off, were a goal down, but then equalised via a mistake from the Palace keeper and their winner came from a penalty that shouldn't have been given.

After a fallow spell, Sean O'Driscoll makes the @Liquid list.

Well, he took over a club at the top of League One and in 16 games has taken them down to 5th and 9 points away from the new leaders. I wonder why he was appointed in the first place when he hasn't really done anything of note since 2011 when he left Doncaster after 5 years? Since then he's had colourless spells at Crawley, Forest and Bristol City, lasting less than a year in each job before becoming Brendan Rodgers' #2 in his ill-fated coaching shuffle just prior to being sacked.

The wally with the brolley can't be far behind him...

You'd think, wouldn't you? You said something similar back in October yet he's still there. I think that unless there is a dramatic change under a new manager, the writing is on the wall for Newcastle.

7th March - Sean O'Driscoll (Walsall, sacked) League One

Sackings: 40
Resignations: 4
Expirations: 2
Approaches: 5

Total: 51

40th. Sacking. Of The Season.

Celtic were drawn against 'Rangers' yesterday in the Scottish Cup semi-final draw. Uproar follows the news. Personally? I'm not really bothered, I want us to win this cup and to get drawn a team from the league below gives us a good fighting chance plus lord knows we would have probably went out against Inverness.

Press and Media already in full spin mode hyping it up more than it needs to be. Ignoring the fact Celtic have 4 much larger games in the large scheme of things coming up. Hopefully the team play the next 4 games with full attention rather than focusing on a cup game a month away which doesn't deserve to detract from the league at the moment whilst we are in a small slump.

Celtic have already played Rangers since their reformation (a cup semi-final last year, no?) so it's not a historic game in that sense but Celtic vs Rangers is always going to generate interest.

Yup, a boring 2-0 win where Rangers didn't have a shot on target and possession was 70-30 in our favor. The difference this year is that we are really struggling to keep some form together and the team has went a bit flat for the past month or so...conversely Rangers are playing better than they have done previously within the level of competition they play week in/week out. Also, they hammered Dundee 4-0(in the same week we drew 0-0 with Dundee) on Saturday so everyone is losing their minds based on this insisting its gonna be an absolutely fantastic match.

Forgetting there is still 5 weeks or so before that game and the hot/cold nature of this Celtic team mean its probably not wise to judge the outcome of the match(like any cup game and/or rivalry) so early.

Might be crap for United right now but very happy with the goings on at Swansea lately, had a fantastic week last week with back to back wins against Arsenal and Norwich with Bournemouth and Villa our next two games, games we can get points from, plus Guidolin was released from hospital today, 9 points clear of the relegation zone, looking good right now. 👍:)

Margaret Byrne has left her role as Sunderland chief executive officer after letting Adam Johnson play for Sunderland up until his trail despite having full knowledge of what he did, during his trail it was claimed she received transcripts of police interviews in which Johnson confessed to kissing a schoolgirl, and copies of his WhatsApp messages with her, Sunderland have released a statement expressing its deep regret.

Newcastle reportedly in talks with Rafa Benitez, whilst McLaren is still in the job, just!, he could get sacked before Newcastle's game with Leicester on Monday.

On that note, I hate it when newspapers use images to make it look like the person is reacting to the current news story about them, e.g. this pic which was under a headline about McClaren being sacked and Benitez is set to replace him... presumably they think that Benitez is feeling smug about it...

A slow and painful death for McLaren.

I have no idea why Rafa (or any other decent manager) would go anywhere near Newcastle. The senior management of that club is appalling, and they are still highly likely to go down.

I hope Rafa has a get out of jail free card, and he can walk if they get relegated.

Football this weekend, not so many league games as the FA Cup is on.

Saturday
Bournemouth v Swansea
Norwich v Man City (12.45 Sky)
Stoke v Southampton

Sunday

Aston Villa v Tottenham (4pm Sky)

Monday Night
Leicester v Newcastle (8pm Sky)

And that's it, no games for BT as they are showing two cup games on Sunday.

Leicester v Newcastle definitely has extra significance because of today's news, it's been coming, interesting that Benitez has signed a three year deal rather than till the end of the season, what will he do if they go down??, they are in a slightly favourable position in the league though, just a point off safety with a game in hand.

He has an Opt out clause if we get relegated which I don't blame him for wanting.

Fantastic news for us to get a Manager of his quality at the current state we are in. Hopefully this means the Idiots running the club have decided to drop the European 'Head Coach' rubbish that clearly hasn't worked for us.

The fact that he brought the players in from their day off for an afternoon training session just an hour after he was announced as the new manager says a lot!, he is going to be a lot different from McLaren....

Aitor Karanka is considering his position at Middlesbrough, it is being reported. He left training unexpectedly on Friday after a row; Boro have won just 3 from 10 since topping the table on 12th January but still sit 2nd, 4 points off Burnley and with a game in hand.

It would be a shame to see him go. Boro have played some fantastic football under his stewardship.

I did wonder how Boro were going to shoot themselves in the foot this season.

So if PSG win today they win Ligue 1 with eight games to spare, they are currently 0-8 up against Troyes with 10 minutes to go with a Zlatan hat-trick!

Four for Zlatan, three for Cavani, four straight league titles....
