How would that work out? Isn't Mercedes at the limit for supplying teams?
If there wasn't a limitation it'd make sense...since there are reports future Astons may use Merc' engines starting when the new lineup is debuted in the near future.

I'm pretty sure that's true - if they supply Red Bull, they will supply half the grid. And it would likely kill Renault's interest if they only supply Toro Rosso.

That said, there is still speculation that Renault will return as a full works team, buying Lotus back. And if Mercedes were to supply Red Bull and Williams, then I imagine that Force India might look elsewhere to get a better deal and a higher standing with a supplier.

Just to touch on the subject briefly...I'm surprised there isn't a "F1 General Discussion" thread for things like that.

Sorry just thought about it when I saw that.

I don't remember why there isn't one for F1, but the mods seem quite adamant about F1 getting multiple threads on the same subject. Supposedly the circus is too big for a main thread that would go on multiple tangents even though it's all F1, I think...

Pretty much. If we merged the calendar, driver market and regulations threads together, it would rapidly and uncontrollably expand.

Top right of the tweet by the jack. It looks like a cross between a ghost and last year's Red Bull 'pod' nose.
Had to open the tweet. :embarrassed: HOLY MARTINI BATMAN!

Craig Scarborough reckons it is last years nose, but it has been cut back and used for travelling purposes now. Not sure personally, since the exposed front face has been painted white - why bother?

Putting what they proposed and the "promises" aside, looks good. 👍 The cars have a much nicer lower profile, and the bigger tires look epic. The cars in 2017 (by those plans) would look insane. A more aggressive and sleeker look with that larger front and rear wing just looks awesome.

Eh, to each their own. It's still the FIA being the FIA. "We'll claim we're doing everything and the world over, but in reality we will just make cosmetic aero adjustments and then claim safety or some other stuff. Now on the more important stuff WEC..."

That's how I imagine the regs meetings go. Cause when they could have easily given the stuff they've been tinkering with or purposely suggesting to the public at large...this is what we get instead.

If they stopped delaying things, they would have had plenty of time to get things ready.

Actually that's why they purposely do this stuff so they can shape it further in there benefit and get even more time to do so. If they push it to 2018 it hurts no one but the fans who want to see some change that will create more potential winners.

Honda are targeting Ferrari's power output in Belgium with new engine update... And there I was just glad both cars made it to the finish in Hungary!

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120337

It is quite a bold target, though they already claim to be ahead of Renault as well.

They are worried thought about the engine's ability to handle the power though...I've been following this in the past week or so. I think they do have the power just not the reliability, but then again help hopefully they do.

They had no reliability issues in Hungary, but I'm not at all convinced 1 race indicates all problems have been resolved. I just hope the power increase doesn't reduce the reliability, wherever it is now, once again.

The drivers have both spoken about the drive-ability of the engine so it is definitely more than just having more power available throughout the entire race. The same article reveals that Honda think the chassis is actually what is holding performance back and the lack of aero efficiency is the problem...

It is all concerning me, given the way Red Bull and Renault have gone over the last 2 years. Individual interviews / press releases that blame the other half of the team can't be constructive. Hopefully I'm just misreading that between context.

They've been worried about the reliability because they have found that running the ERS components at maximum puts strain on the other parts of the engine. They're hoping that if they can make those parts more resilient and reduce the strain, the performance will improve.
