Even though that 350 looks awesome and sounds awesome, the amount of steering correction that driver was using throughout the entire run makes me wonder if the handling will be on par with what's expected of the top dog from Ford (btw, is that the top model? ).

Eiether way great vids, ty for link. :D

I think it was just the driver being an idiot.

I think it was just the driver being an idiot.

Kinda doubt that, I mean, they claim he's a former stig and Ford put him in that car for the reason of showing off a big entry at one of the biggest auto events.

I can see "being an idiot" at the start with the burn out but the twitchy steering inputs throughout the entire course paint a very different picture from something like the "driver being an idiot."

Makes no difference to me.

I still think that was all based on purposeful driver inputs and is in no way an indication of how the car handles. You can see him sawing at the wheel on the in car shots and those are his inputs making it do that. My guess is he was trying to show off in front of the crowd and it just made him look like an idiot.

That was my analysis as well.

I really hope C&D gets to run this car in the yearly Lightning Lap. Looking forward to see where it stacks up against the z28 and then the heavy hitter American cars, c7z and Viper.

This combo is going to be hard to beat, limited production car, 529hp, flat plane crank motor (nearest similar motor is on a Ferrari), 6 piston front and 4 piston rear brembo calipers connected to two piece rotors. All for $50k out the door (base model). The only thing im not sold on is the front. Maybe Ill wait till they introduce a mid cycle refresh. Like in 2010, and then again in 2013.

It'll be hard for it to beat the z28 based solely on tire selections. Meat meeting the ground makes a big difference.

It'll be close for sure, no denying the advantage of the Trofeo R.
The z28 also retails for 75k. Has less power and weighs more.

I'd take a GT350R and still have money left over.

I'm not sure I like it honestly. I mean it's throaty and all that, but Euro V8s were never my thing. I mean, I know this is entirely a Ford engine but the flat-plane crank sounding V8s never did it for me. Too smooth, not mean enough. Most overhead cam V8s sound like that (one of my biggest issues with the Coyote 5.0, even though thats a cross-plane engine). I'll stick to my old pushrods. Although, hell, those new ones are starting to sound like poop to me too. Something about it doesn't sound like a Mustang, but more like a Jag or Aston.

To me, that's not something I'd consider a value or good trait. Mustangs have always sounded pissed off and angry, instead of smooth and refined. I want a Mustang to sound like a Mustang. Don't get me wrong; the new engine is a great piece of technology, but it's not my thing.

I think you like the sound of tractors. 4 stroke and even 2 stroke engines are far too modern for you. Have an 8 stroke.

Nice and lumpy.

I thought it does sounded pissed off, like more pissed than before.
Have you ever heard an uncorked Cobra Jet big block about 4 feet away? Or hell, even a 302?

I can tell you right now from the "pissed off, scary sounding" exhaust standpoint it makes this thing sound like a European toy.

I like the sound of an old school V8 over a new one. Tractors sound nothing like those. Though I do understand the reference

You heard a 6.2L C63 in person?
I haven't. But I have heard enough Euro cars in person to form an opinion that they are simply too smooth and not very mean sounding. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a V8, but it's not the same as far as pure raw aggressiveness goes. This stands not just for Ford, but for most older V8s.

Like I said, it's not a "bad" exhaust sound, it's just not for me. Nor does it sound like a Mustang "should", in my opinion.

The origin of the 6.2L V8 would disagree with you.

I should note more modern stuff.

Older Euro stuff doesn't seem to be too bad. Regardless, on the topic of the Mustang, the new engine just doesn't do it for me in the exhaust note department.

Most modern AMGs aren't far off what you're critiquing about, either.

The new GT-S has a deep rumble & lope that you hear in the older Mustangs.

It's all down to the exhaust configuration. European car buyers tend to appreciate a more "sophisticated" sound, which means extensive exhaust tuning to get a very careful, controlled sound. You put a pair of long tube headers and full exhaust on any 90* performance V8, and it will sound like an absolute animal. Case in point:

To me that sounds very close to a typical stock car V8.

The thing is, I think you like the sound of V8's that are mostly stock and/or made for low RPM torque, NOT performance engines. Big displacement V8's that rev to around 5,000rpm with cast iron unequal length exhaust manifolds, chambered mufflers, and a single big carb. Something like this:
