Every single one of the UK top 6 last year had also been at either the 2012 or 2013 national final, they would have been ineligible if this rule took effect!

Maybe the rule has been changed so they see different people coming through?

Looking forward to trying this out Round 1 later.

Also, good to see a few others who were at the FB event last year on here. Will be interesting to see if there is a similar FB event this time for any of the non-game qualification places.

But this was already achieved by not allowing Race Camp finalists to enter future competitions.

It's not as if previous national finalists have some magic advantage over the others, even in future national finals as the format keeps changing. This year there is no national final at all, which makes the rule change even more baffling.

7.3 Territory Winners will be contacted by the Promoter via email (...) and invited to take part in the Race Camp Prize together with winners from the Territorial Competitions, which will take place at a date and time to be selected by the Promoter at its sole discretion. Territory Winners will be informed of the date, time and venue of the Race Camp Prize at least ten (10) days before the Race Camp Prize takes place. It is intended that the Race Camp Prize will take place during October 2015; however, the Promoter reserves the right to select any date for the Race Camp Prize.

So it looks like there are no national finals this year. Also probably makes sense for the same reason that there doesn't seem to be a facebook game since they probably want people who are definitely good at the actual game. Also means it's going to be a heck of a lot harder. Only 4 places from public events which most people don't/aren't able to attend, and only 4 places from the online quali.

20 from Philippines and 4 from uk? 2 from spain? Stupid if you ask me.
As I said above, the European countries (including UK) are completely skipping the regional finals stage and going straight to race camp. UK has a total of 8 people who get to go to race camp, whereas each of the Asian countries only have 6 after they go through the regional finals.

Edit: As usual the US competition is by some way the easiest to get to at least the next stage on. But they too only have 6 going to the actual race camp.

Do you need a driving license if you progress to the next round of the whole competition? I used to have an MSA Racing license but I cannot drive on the roads yet

Yes. Full unrestricted. 👍

Thanks. That's a shame, say if one obtains a driving license after this round but before race camp, would that be accepted do you reckon, or is it from the word go? I may have to email GT.

I think as long as you have proof of a full licence you should be okay. Double check the rules though. 👍

Also, was your racing license only a National B?

Thanks again. The competition looks fierce this year. My first step is finding a PS3 after selling it to pay towards the PS4

What's really annoying me at the moment is, I'll get all the way round - heading for a low 25 at least then that damn last chicane comes and my car can't slow down in time. :banghead:

Don't think it matters whether or not it has expired, I think if you've ever had a National A license then you can't qualify, I could be wrong though.

Really?! Well that's a pain. From what I remember I don't think I used my A license for its use because the costs to race in the British champs was unbelievably expensive :banghead:

Yeh, just had a look, here's what it says; http://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/academy/2015/terms/

1.3 (h) Not previously held a National A or superior MSA license or equivalent in another Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) recognised National Sporting Authority (ASN) or Recognised Motorsport Body;

Cheers Spurgy. I guess I can only do it for the fun.

It was a karting license
Difficult one. Would contact them to find out if they classify kart licenses in the same way, I think you ought to be fine to enter with a Nat A kart license.. Would be a bit harsh otherwise.

When you say dont/aren't able to attend? Why is this? Surely at a live you have more chance as you won't have people sitting there for hours trying to beat their time + no ghosts etc?

Historically it's been at Goodwood Festival, which is a ticketed event. So you need to buy a ticket and obviously be able to travel to the event etc. It may not be affordable or doable to attend the event for some people. But you're right if you get there, the number of expert GT6 drivers is likely to be few so you do have a pretty decent chance if you do manage to attend and you're decent on the wheel.

Just watch... this year everyone there will be pros.

Yes, the three main sources for the "live" event qualifiers in the last 4 years have been GWFoS, the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power* and a trade event at the O2 Arena in June/July.

However, an absolute boatload of people turn up, there's huge queues, you don't get much time and literally have one shot to do it under crowd pressure and lots of really good people turn up precisely for the above reasons...

*It's pronounced "Chum-lee". No, I know.

I'm honestly just glad to be done with the Facebook stuff. I mean no disrespect to those who qualified from it previously, but when there are guys working the absolute arse off in the qualifiers and competing with the best in the world to get in, and falling just short, yet someone qualifies by clicking some buttons on a facebook game. I know exactly why they do them but it still just never seemed right to me.

Do we have further information about the topic regarding last years national finalists?
I mean last year there were people withdrawling in Germany so they could get another shot at it and the Promoters said that was a good idea and you would have at least a new try next year if you did not make it to the Racecamp.
Even Florian Strauss said he did in his second time and engouraged people to do it after one year preparation.
What about 2008-2012

Hi gents, just introducing myself. Psn name Bishop_GP. Giving it. Whirl this year not really got much GT6 experience. Currently on a 2.06.8. God help me I need to improve!!

Am I correct in thinking 8 uk go straight through to boot camp from online final? Good luck all!
