2016 Formula 1 Grande Premio do BrasilFormula 1

Is it me or has Lewis been a bit 'cocky' this weekend, saying stuff like he has got Nico covered and even though it's a hard racetrack but he is owning it.

Mind games?

Those ain't mind games. Real mind games is a woman not saying if she happy, sad or indifferent when asked how she is. Just silence. ;)

Yeah, the last two races for some reason especially I thought a couple of times the cars don't move at all and was wondering what happened. In some wide camera shots you don't actually see the cars moving for a second or two, but usually you'd hear their roaring engines and you know they're moving.

It's ridiculous really. I've always wanted hybrid engines, but not like this, you'd think a ~900ps motor would be louder than an electric toothbrush, but apparently it isn't.

Also Alonso is my favorite driver since he joined F1 (didn't know him before obv), guy knows what's up.

What reason could there be for wanting a hybrid engine other than it being super-efficient? I just don't understand your comment.

As I keep saying, the Hybrid volume is the best it's ever been. If you can just about listen to the cars without earplugs, it's perfect. Anything louder is silly because all you're doing is blocking it out to stop you going deaf.

Rioter 1: "Oh no, the police are shooting rubber bullets at us to break us up"
Rioter 2: "This isn't a proper riot, they're not shooting at us with real bullets"

Simple

I'm saying the traditional part of the power unit should still be really loud even though you obviously would barely hear the electric part. And I don't understand why they made them so silent. It's always been a huge part of F1 for me - I sometimes wouldn't even watch, just listen.

And as for why I've always wanted hybrid engines, that's because it's the way forward, we can't burn fossil fuels forever.

Edit: Oh so you're saying we barely can't hear the engines, because they're so efficient? That makes kinda sense, but is pretty sad in a way.

Any sound you hear is "wasted" energy - the trick is to recoup as much of that as possible. The days of exploding as much fuel as you can while harnessing as much of its power as you can without destroying the block are gone.

Didn't they say the engines would be louder next year though?

I mean I get the idea, but I think they're also doing a lot of stuff to make the engines appear very silent, I doubt it's simply efficiency somehow.

On board they sound ok, but otherwise you really barely hear anything, it's just odd.

I bought a 350w 5.1 surround system and I thought I finally can listen to these machines really loud (screw the neighbors), but nope... all I hear is the commentators (way too loud) -_-

What you're describing there is how you hear it on TV. The strength and frequency of the sound these engines create has poor attenuation so it doesn't reach the mics very well. The TV companies don't seem to do a great job of mixing the sound, in my opinion.

Oh, I see, yeah that would at least partly explain it. I think it might also be my setup for another part, I have a 27" monitor and it doesn't have an optical out, nor does the tv receiver, so it's not as loud as it should be and I can't change any sound settings either. Incidentally tomorrow I'll watch on a TV that has optical out so I can try and see if it sounds a bit better on my sound system.

Anyways, I hope it's a good race tomorrow and Rosberg wins, hah!
I guess Hamilton is on pole though?

Right now Sao Paulo is wet. Very wet. Looking to stay wet if the local weather forecast of "100% chance of ongoing precipitation" means what I think it means.

I have a feeling that the race will start behind the safety car :(

More than likely. Then the track will then dry out, everyone will rush for inters a couple of laps after the SC pulls in, the second stop will be for dry tyres and it'll be the same old same old.

I can't actually remember the last race that was wet start to finish?

Good afternoon everyone, I'm here and looking forward to hopefully a great race.

Just heard that if conditions stay as they are then it wont be a virtual safety car start....

It's seems like we both might be wrong as according to sky Charlie Whiting is going to let them do a normal standing start

Can't stand sky, all of the articles are about how RB can help Ham, have they not stopped to think if Ros is ahead and the bulls get in between? Or then will it be, RB are interfering in the championship battle?

I hope it's a normal start, otherwise we could pretty much guess the result now
