So they're getting ready to start again. I have to say those first fourteen laps was very exciting and the most difficult conditions I've seen in a long time. I remember Suzuka '02 was very tricky too but this was trickier with parts of the track drying and on other parts raining cats and dogs.

Well, good news for me in that BeIn sports has been added to my cable line up (only in SD though currently...still better than unofficial sources). Actually only tuned in with about 10-11 laps to go, but was still a good show from that point!

Happy for Marquez, but even more so happy for Miller! At only 21 years old, that win blows my mind even more so than hearing Marc win at 22 (although I can't recall, was Marc racing in GP at 21/20?). Now I have another rider to keep an eye on. To be honest, even after years of watching, I still don't know more than half the field...yet with say, F1, I know everybody. Could just be a presentation issue.

The best outcome of today's race was Nakagami getting that elusive win. Overall though its nice to see his continued return to form given the disastrous few years he's had.

Also speaking the best looking MotoGP bike of 2017?

Nice to see KTM's weapon shaping up...can't wait till August to see it in action.

Marquez won the championship in 2013 when he was 20. Jack Miller has become the first person to win a race in the big class who is younger than I am, I thought Vinales would do that but either way I'm starting to think it's too late for me.

My bet is the bikes will look similar to the Factory 125cc bikes once painted.

I hope the go with the RC250 GP scheme(the current scheme of Ajo)...the flat orange of the 125/250 cc era doesn't really stand out anymore.

Happy for Jack Miller. He rode beautifully, a well deserved win.

Not take any value out of his win, but the truth is this was gifted to him on the account that Rossi and Dovi went down. Interestingly though had things not play out the way they did this could've been a legitimate win for Ducati

That's not fair to Miller.

Those weren't gifts, those were mistakes made by Rossi and Dovizioso. Miller didn't make any mistakes, that's why he won.

Yes, Marquez was content with second place so he wasn't going to challenge for the lead. But that is beside the point. Miller took the lead and kept it to the end by keeping his cool while others lost theirs.

A rider needs to reach this flag first before you can start talking about 'gifts'. Rossi and Dovizioso didn't.

I wanted Rossi to win but you have to give Miller credit where it's due.

Yeah Miller deserved the win and the red flag probably didn't help him that much as by the time it was drawn the field was bunched up anyway.

I don't see him doing anything for the rest of the season though Marc VDS seems like they are Lost on setup in the dry and even though Miller is comfortably handling Rabat they both seem to be the slowest out there.

I think we've found the motorsports equivalent to "I'm not racist but..."
Rossi set the fastest lap of the restarted race on lap 2 (his only flying lap before he crashed) when the track was still really wet. Only Redding got within half a second of that time on the 11th lap when there was a dry line, so clearly Rossi was pushing too hard and it caught him out. It's obviously difficult to tell how hard to push when leading a wet race and I don't normally question Rossi's race craft but those bikes are a lot less forgiving than a moto 3 bike so trying to replicate Pawi in Argentina would never work.
Edit: here are the fastest laps, courtesy of a Eugene Laverty retweet.

Rossi himself admit he did a mistake. I guess he feared a repeat of Misano last year where he had slow pace and was leading the race for most of the gp before being overtaken by drivers that change bikes.

Miller still had to beat Marquez from near the back of the grid and although some very good riders struggled/fell only a very good performance would have been enough to win this race.

He would of been lucky if he started out front and went at a moderate pace and kept the lead, the fact he had to deal with the majority of the pack whilst the race was at it's hardest conditions and getting by all of them, whilst setting a fast pace means it's all down to his riding.

My view at the race:
Imo it was the right decision to red flag it,it was getting to dangerous to continue.
I don't know it for sure, but a whole lot of people left their places once the red flag was out, looking for shelter or just leaving to go home?
Imo if Petrucci didn't had electrical problems he could have a big chance to win this race.
Wondering what Pedrosa could have done if he didn't crashed out,imo also a potential winner in this kind of circumstances (referring to Motegi 2015).
A lot of people left when VR46 crashed out (he crashed actually right in front of me).
I hate some comments i've read that it was unfair to restart the race,i wonder if they would say the same if VR46 would have won it.
They want to create a rulebook in VR46's favour, always changing their opinion in favour of him.

Dissapointed in Vinales' race, expected a lot more of him.
JL has surely a mental issue when it's raining.
Why is Cal crashing out so many times? He could have got a very good result imo.

Did anyone else find it strange that Lorenzo Dalla Porta was riding the Estrella Galacia bike in moto 3 this week? I know he's leading the junior world championship but that team has 3 riders in there, Lopez is currently third, so why take him from Husqvarna? Doesn't fill their guys with much confidence and there was probably extra issues with his current contract.

I only ask because Keith Huewen (as usual) incorrectly stated that he rides for the Estrella Galicia team in the cev, and that he's Spanish.:dunce:

Dorna we have a problem.. What is that problem? Too many Spainards

https://motomatters.com/analysis/2016/06/30/motogp_silly_season_so_far_2017_grid.html

Seriously though having too many of one(or two) nationalities dominate motorcycle racing is neither good for the sport let alone championships.

Anyhow the very fact you have Spainards and Italians dominating the grid's of both WSBK and MotoGP at the top, middle and lower levels is a huge setback for the sport.

I can see how it could be less appealing to some, but to say it's a setback to the sport is offensive tbh, especially if anything it's adding to the overall talent pool.
