Looks pretty destroyed to me. Let's hope for no more of that.

What in the actual blueberry 🤬

Jorge is officially out of the title hunt. Matter of fact since he went down and I believe Rossi will only come in 2nd to Marc Marquez & Dani Pedrosa here & there this Championship is already figured out even with these great new rules in effect. Dani will fight Rossi for 2nd overall and the Team fight of this year I think will be between Ducati & Tech 3 Yamaha. I also think Tech 3 Yamaha should ditch Bradley Smith whom is the only rider who actually did not rightfully climb up thru the Moto 2 ranks as far s I'm concerned, and should be dropped so Pol E's brother Alexi E. can have the other Tech 3 seat and let the brothers ride it out on the Tech 3 machinery against Ducatie & Bradl. I heard the announcers say "they like Bautista", well I think he falls too much to be a treat and right after I said that boom there he went again skidding off track,,again!!! Hmmm, not surprised'
No, Jorge is not 'officially' out of the title hunt (nobody is and nobody will be for quite some time), though it does look unlikely that he'll be able to challenge Marquez on that Honda. And it's silly to count Lorenzo out of the hunt for 2nd or 3rd.
I'm wondering if this is the Argentina track is the 1 from the 2010 FIA GT1 Series. That track was insane built on the side of a mountain!!!
No, it's the refurbished Termas de Rio Hondo circuit. Dusty track but it did provide some of the best racing in WTCC last season, so I'm looking forward to see how the bikes race on it.

FP1 and FP2 have gone by for MotoGP and guess who set the best lap so far with over a second to spare?

Curious what Jorge and Valentino will be doing in FP3 because now they are both a bit back in the timesheet.

So I studied the Argentinean GP a little, and found out that the 2013 race was cancelled due to something like the safety of the Repsol team. What is the fuss all about and why is it now safe for Repsol-associated people to travel to the country?

Complete bike n00b question here, though I did once own a MotoGP PS2 game and watch bits of it around 2010... What is difference between MotoGP and World Superbikes? Are they split a little like CART / Indycar split in the USA in the 1990's?

I may be wrong, but there was a major dispute between Repsol (Spanish oil company) and the Argentine Govt, with the the government threatening to seize all Repsol's infrastructure in the country. I'm not sure how it got resolved.

WSBK = road going derivatives with racing bits.

MotoGP = full prototypes.

One bike cost millions to make the other doesn't. To compare it to car racing WSBK would be like Indy Cars and Moto GP is basically F1 of bikes.

The difference is WSBK generally has entertaining racing with passing in it. MotoGP has a follow the leader race where whoever is leading after the first turn wins the race.

Ok so that's not entirely true, although I do feel that way sometimes :D

Not even remotely accurate, that's more akin to 90s F1.

If someone is a second a lap faster then they're going to lead every lap, doesn't matter if it's GP or club level.

Also another difference is MotoGp's lean angles compared to WSBK. I dont know Wsbk exact lean angle numbers but Stoner & Marc lean around 61 (or more by a degree or 2) degrees of lean angle off the bike. Wsbk is probably around 30 to 40 degres range. And the stopping power. Im sure they can stop as soon as 50m sooner than a Wsbk can. These 2 are some of the hardest things to learn switching from Wsbk to MotoGp. Lol, but its ususlly MotoGp to Wsbk; then Wsbk to MotoGp if you catch my drift?!

...and that would be why I said "that's not entirely true." Although you have to admit there is a lot less passing in MotoGP than there once was.

A second a lap on the pro level is light years away, especially evenmore so with no pit windiws to buy back track position.

There have never been pit windows in MotoGP, so I don't really know how to respond to that. I will say although right now (and for the last few years) I prefer WSBK racing, that too is not what it used to be. They are too reliant on electronics for my liking these days. They all look like they're on rails most of the time. I guess that rider safety is probably a factor in the heavy use of electronics these days.

Nope.

2013 was one of the best seasons of racing that I've ever seen in any series.

Much better than the Doohan and Rossi dominations that take you back into the 90s.

Yeah I know what you're saying, anyone dominating a sport is not a good thing. I have to admit I tuned out for a fair chunk of the Rossi era. I don't think 2013 was that great though, bits and pieces were good, but it wasn't a stand out for me. The good thing about this is everyone has a different opinion.

Yea I'm not that MotoGp old either, I started watching when Nicky Hayden left America to race MotoGp. I did the same for Ben Spies when he was promoted from AMA to Wsbk; Ben Spies the greatest mystery of all times where the hell is he?

He couldn't finish a race on the factory Yamaha and retired last year.
Oh and if you think moto gp is boring these days watch today's race! The first few laps were just ridiculous, and the moto 3 was bonkers all the way through.

There have been some features on him recently on here which have been very interesting. There is another one on there if you search for it. He's retired now as his shoulder is so messed up.

Anyway, this season looks like a catastophically boring on is on the cards for the main game. MM winning them all with little to no competition doesn't appear to be a fairy tale đź‘Ž.

NEWS: Bridgestone are outta here! They've announced that when their contract ends after the end of 2015 they're pulling out. Apparently Dunlop and Michelin are interested, they have until the end of May to submit a bid.

There's the possibility of Pirelli as well, especially given Dorna's connections in WSBK.

Matthew Birt was in the box for BT today saying that it can't realistically be them because they have no experience with prototype bikes. As for Dunlop, with moto 2 and 3 that would be biting a lot more than they can chew you feel. Smart money says Michelin.

Just looked at the FP3 times, no real surprise in the pecking order until I got down to Edwards.

EDIT: Watching the Q2 live timing it looked as if Lorenzo had enough but Marc was stunning again.

You might just be right...

Like I said earlier Bautista is a bust! I know no one denies a MotoGp ride, but Scott Redding would of did better beating up on Rabat and others this year and catch that Gresini ride that I believe will be available next year. Either that or Alex E. Needs to get promoted up to a real MotoGp bike. I was going to write this post after The Texas round, but not too much surprise he dropped the bike again in Argentina and that made this post even more that easier to write.

Why? We know who would win. j/k

I didn't even hear about it until yesterday. I've got to pay more attention. :banghead:

Did nobody watch Sunday then?
Of Course, but like mentioned by Tired Tyres, it wasn't a big surprise who won.
The first two laps were very good IMO. After that it was just a focus on who would end up second.
Yamaha has some work to do to keep up with MM on his Honda.
That kid is so fast!

Question is now, will MM be breaking another record or two with most wins in a season and most championship points?
