Wow, MM has a 20kph straight line speed advantage over the Yamahas! Little wonder the kid has walked this year so far; sure is has talent beyond his years, but its like Merc vs the rest in F1 machine wise.
So the only thing that matters in a bike is the straightline speed then?
The Yamahas are better on corners, and I'd say actually in Mugello they had the edge on the Honda judging by the performances of Pedrosa and Rossi

Also, congrats to Joey Dunlop for claiming the Superbike TT. Martin was the bridesmaid again!

*Michael Dunlop, Joey was his dad. The lap record was broken several times during the race, with Bruce Anstey setting a 132.198mph lap.

That Italian MotoGP race wasn't bad eh?

It certainly was! I was on the edge of my seat at the end there, hoping MM would take the win :sly: and neither would crash during their battle. :scared:

Great race today!!

Shame Vale was so far back cause of his bad quali, surely he would have been there aswell...great fight for the win though!wow!!

Dat Moto3 race.

Indeed, awesome racing yet again. Shame that Miller crashed on the final lap. And somehow Vazquez managed to finish 12th after that ride through penalty for jumping the start.

Australian member question: Does channel 10 show the moto3/moto2 anymore?

Unfortunately aside from Phillip Island later in the year, no. Fox sports struck up a deal shortly before the season started to air all Moto2, Moto3 and MotoGP practice, qualifying and races live. Link.

We can't get Speed in Canada anymore, so no MotoGP races unless I livestream. (Which isn't the same as sitting down and watching it in glorious HD.)

:grumpy:

In other news, local racer Mitch Card just did his first AMA Supersport race at Road America.
Finished 11th in the first race, and was up to 3rd at one point in the 2nd before a red flag restart. : D

Was in 14th when he and 6 others fell in T2 after it started to suddenly rain.
But still, running up there with the big teams!

Sucks, but every cloud has a silver lining - less Greg Rust to endure!

Why do you think I'm such a fan of MasterChef? It always runs overtime on Sundays, limiting the amount of babbling he can do. I don't understand why Ten can't just cut straight to Sky for Formula 1 or whoever the main broadcaster for MotoGP is from the outset.

Another fatality at the TT this week :(, plus at least one serious injury. Together with the NW200 crash of Simon Andrews, its been a bad two weeks.

In less serious news, Miller got 2 penalty points from his crash at Mugello. I see a bit of a rivalry brewing with him and Fenati....

What do you expect on a track like that (TT)

They know the risk they take, they know when you crash you probably dead. Man's stupidity/insanity can take large forms when adrenaline kicks in. At the moment that helmet closes they all think they are immortal.

It's spectacular to watch, I agree but it is just as stupid as racing your souped up moped on public roads in your shorts.

That it's crazy we can all agree on, but i think it we would also agree that it would be a damn shame should the TT disappear in it's current form for safety reasons.

I disagree doblocruiser, these men are brave, not stupid.

Safety at the TT, is very much improved, after a terrible accident, which killed David Jefferies in 2003. There are now, marshals in line of sight of one another, all round the course. Parts of the track are being, resurfaced and medical support is paramount.

Robert Dunlop was Michael's father, Joey was there uncle who won 26TTs.

What happened to Marc? only saw the live timing and he stayed in the pit at the end of Q2.

As has been said, great MotoGP race; what is going on with Jorge...

Vale had a top ride and Pedrosa once again showed why although he has the pace, he doesnt have the family jewels to just stick a block pass on his teammate, unlike MM. Pedrosa should have won that one....the story of his premier class career.

Amazing race because Marquez predictably won the race or what? If you were to ask me personally with Marquez only a few races away from clinching the title uncontested(mathematically it could happen after Indy) this entire MotoGP is looking like a joke. In fact I don't even know whether to continue following this season or what, but at least things are looking good in SBK.

Ok i dont read reply's and go WTF often...but ...sorry????

You are ofcourse allowed to post your opinion, but did you follow MotoGP for the last decades?

Do you realise what these guys risk passing eachother inches away at 200++++ mp/h????

Have you ever been to a motogp/sbk race and taste how all the fans appreciate their hero's,and what they do there on that track every time they get on it?...

Like in every form of motorsport there are boring ,exciting, predictable, chaotic, etc etc etc races...some are good, some not.

This is almost always due to cercomstances like wheather, track, tyres, who's hot and who's not at that particullar weekend, etc etc...

Yes MM is the dude right now...but sow whas Vale a few years ago,and so whas that guy and the other, and so there will be a next guy in the future...

This year the motogp has been absolutaly fantastic, because a super talent has arrived in motogp, who wins races in a drivingstile never ever displayed before, and in a "i will drive my balls off nomather if i crash and brake all my bones" way wich is breathtaking !!!!!

So its your call,if you think this race whas a "joke" ,oh and the other half of the races this season...some boring, some brilliant!

Mate,go and watch SBK,cause those races are sooooooo much more exciting!! .... not!

Sorry,but WTF?????

Can someone please check if you're ok?
That race was mental! Are you seriously saying that you watched the race and thought it was boring? It went into the last half a lap and I didn't know who was going to win, then Marquez wins so all of a sudden it was a boring and predictable race?

Interestingly Pol is fastest in the Assen FP1 speed trap at 312.7 km/h, Alvaro is the next fastest 1.3 km/h back.

Where is that speed trap though? There's not really a long straight to get the high speeds so I wouldn't read too much into that, it probably means Pol is quick coming out the previous corner.
Anyway I'd call this race the big one for Marquez, this has been a Yamaha track for years, even Ben Spies won here for one thing after Lorenzo was knocked off by Bautista I think. If Marc wins here I do believe he will go on to win them all barring something heroic from someone else.

Agreed with the final sentence. Bautista did crash into Lorenzo 2 years ago, Stoner won from Pedrosa then. Spies won in 2011 when Lorenzo was took out by Simoncelli...

It's all the long corners and high speed direction changes where the Yam seems to do well, I remember Rossi flying through the last sector during the 2013 race. Marc has been really strong here in the past so I expect him to win, I remember him hunting down Iannone in Moto2 after Iannone had built a big lead.
