Well when even a Sportscar series has trouble here in the wet, I guess it really should've been an indicator how it might go for these kinds of cars.

Green Flag coming.

Hell yeah, Justin has done it. He didn't just park it, he mark'd it 👍

Tuned in for the last 20 laps. I've never seen stock cars in the rain. Absolutely fantastic racing!(if you forget about everyone spinning) So cool to see these massive machines drift around the corners, tires struggling for grip. :D Wish I had seen the rest of the race...

I don't know who wouldn't sponsor that. I would.

Sadly, not a lot would. Dale Jr himself has before had to do some races as part of the sponsorship contract for his team and Brad Keselowski has had to do the same for both his Truck team in addition to doing so for Penske (likewise for Kyle Busch, though in his case its doubled due to what is going on with Matt Tift)

In fact if you notice, the Discount Tire cars almost always have had exclusively Cup Drivers.

Its been the same story for a lot of these cars battling for the owners championship.

Then why not just sponsor the cup series?

It costs significantly less I'd imagine

Exactly.

This is from a story from March 2015 on how much Lilly's sponsorship of RFR's #16 Xfinity Series car costs.

Lilly has partnered with the American Diabetes Association, but the IBJ says the pharmaceutical company is paying for the deal, which is estimated at $10 million annually. The story reports that Lilly is paying $5 million to Roush Fenway Racing for the sponsorship and spending $5 million on activation and promotion.

NASCAR teams and sponsors generally keep the amounts of their sponsor contracts under wraps. In the Sprint Cup series, it’s been estimated that teams have asked for $18-20 million annually to sponsor a championship-contending car for the 36-race season on the premier circuit. The Xfinity Series comes with a much lower price tag for a team sponsorship.

No idea. Same can said for Taxslayer, NOS Energy, Rheem and many others.

I would guess that they decided they would get a better return on their investment to sponsor a top tier Xfinity Series car, than a middle of the pack Cup car.

Okay. So it is not like NASCAR racers are F1 racers when it comes to racing in the rain or anything. Even just seeing NASCAR make an effort to race in the rain is commendable at best. I long have applauded NASCAR for finally having chances to actually test rain setups for road courses. Anyone who seen the 2008 (then) Nationwide Series race at Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve had to be impressed at just how insane the race was and how NASCAR managed to make these cars even remotely able to take on road racing under wet or rainy conditions. If you're expecting best of the best with NASCAR and road racing in the rain, lower your expectations. However, don't discredit NASCAR even remotely trying to enhance their product and show at least some evolution.

I didn't get to see all of the race, but I still was mostly impressed at the drivers taking on the rain challenge rather than hope and pray the race got moved to Sunday under dry conditions. Congratulations to the winner of this race at the great Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

So I found this old photo of Joey Logano trying to learn to drift, and now I wonder, how long will it bet till Toyota puts the GT86/FRS into NASCAR Xfinity duty? It makes sense to race the 86 against the Mustang and Camaro like in Formula D right?

Have you seen the video where Kenny Wallace and Kenny Irwin tried drifting in Japan back in '97 when they raced there? It's funny to think that NASCAR was televising drifting in the US before it was really known here.

NASCAR actually had a hand in bringing over a few "JDM" trends before they became popular. See this Yu-Gi-Oh itasha from 2003

EDIT: This car did in fact run a race
