Yup, Danica drives for RPM now. Honestly, who thought using Petty blue would be a good idea on a non-Petty car?
Are the last name's gone from the windshield?
Umm, yeah the cars don't look a thing alike. Just look at the numbers, sponsors, and the lack of the distinct red-orange-pink color that typically accompanies "Petty Blue".Yup, Danica drives for RPM now. Honestly, who thought using Petty blue would be a good idea on a non-Petty car?
Heard that an XFINITY team will be moving up next year. They secured a charter and are using their primary driver.
The only hint I'll give is that they have been in the sport a long time and fielded a Cup team at some point in the last 10 years

Sounds like TriStar, but why would they bother? They're mid-pack at best in Xfinity. Sure they have Matt DiBennedetto but unless they talk to one Mr. Joe Gibbs they'll be about as worthless as BK Racing.
Can't imagine it costs much more to run Cup. Might as well make more money while your racing I guess
Exactly.
This is from a story from March 2015 on how much Lilly's sponsorship of RFR's #16 Xfinity Series car costs.
Lilly has partnered with the American Diabetes Association, but the IBJ says the pharmaceutical company is paying for the deal, which is estimated at $10 million annually. The story reports that Lilly is paying $5 million to Roush Fenway Racing for the sponsorship and spending $5 million on activation and promotion.
NASCAR teams and sponsors generally keep the amounts of their sponsor contracts under wraps. In the Sprint Cup series, it’s been estimated that teams have asked for $18-20 million annually to sponsor a championship-contending car for the 36-race season on the premier circuit. The Xfinity Series comes with a much lower price tag for a team sponsorship.
I would guess that they decided they would get a better return on their investment to sponsor a top tier Xfinity Series car, than a middle of the pack Cup car.
Does Richard Petty own the rights to blue? Is it ok that Nature's Bakery uses "Petty Blue" in their own logo?
Oh c'mon, it's Danica and this is a NASCAR thread on the internet which means we have to automatically trash anything and everything to do with her...don't you know the rules /s
Some say Richard Petty owns the rights to the sky for being Petty Blue.
To be fair I wasn't exactly thrilled this year when both Matt and Carl were running Stanley colours or Stanley and DG, I just didn't air that here. The SHR Mobil team wasn't exactly a thing of beauty either, it bothers me when 2 or more cars look so similar in Nascar because if I'm not intently watching the broadcast I can't tell the difference.
Petty blue is the result of running out of paint and having to mix white and dark blue. I really don't think then 15 year old Richard cared enough to buy the rights to a color, which nobody can done in the first place.
Heeeeeyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooooooooooooo. If Petty is worried that Danica will be confused for driving a Petty car, he should try and make sure his team can average top 15 finishes. After all, it's hard to impersonate someone if you cannot replicate their efforts.
Bruton Smith and son Marcus want a hand in every sport running through Charlotte, interested in buying Panthers at first opportunity and buying the rights to a MLS expansion team.
MARTINSVILLE IS PUTTING UP LIGHTS! A Martinsville night race is a possibility! How crazy would that be?
A football lineman from Georgia Tech is giving up his last year of eligibility...to be on a NASCAR Pit crew.
OK, Lemme break it down right here.Things happening in the NASCAR world not involving "Petty" Blue:
- Bruton Smith and son Marcus want a hand in every sport running through Charlotte, interested in buying Panthers at first opportunity and buying the rights to a MLS expansion team.
- Riley Herbst will drive the JGR #18 in ARCA full-time in 2017.
- Target & associates have given up some 2017 races as Larson's primary as a transition agreement to their exit at season's end.
- Memphis International Raceway gets a K&N series race, first NASCAR race in 8 years.
- Kyle Busch has accepted an invite to the Race of Champions, held this year in Miami at Marlin's Stadium.
- Joey Gase and Best Home Furnishings have signed on for a few races in the BK Racing #23.
- Akinori Ogata had over $80k in equipment stolen from his family home.
- KB is only running 5 races in the Truck Series.
- MARTINSVILLE IS PUTTING UP LIGHTS! A Martinsville night race is a possibility! How crazy would that be?
- RCR is running #3, #27, and #31 in Cup and #2, #3, #21, #33, and #62 in Xfinity, all full-time.
- A football lineman from Georgia Tech is giving up his last year of eligibility...to be on a NASCAR Pit crew.
- Martin Truex Jr. is EMPA's 'National Driver of the Year'. woo.
Not thrilled on the lights idea, I don't think it'll change a single thing about the races if they decide to use them.
They used to put up temporary lights for summer late model races, so theoretically that's the plan. You also have to keep in mind that even if NASCAR isn't going to run night races at Martinsville in the near future, that doesn't mean other racing series wouldn't be interested in doing so. I'd bet there's more than a couple regional outfits that would love to have a night race at a big-name track like Martinsville as one of their premier events of the season.
