How is Gray Gaulding about to be a Cup driver.... just shows if you have someone who can write checks anyone can race in the top series.
It also helps that his dad is VP of operations of the team he raced for in the truck series and that he apparently has a recommendation from Kevin Harvick, if his Wikipedia page is accurate. Just like any other job, who you know can usually outweigh what you know.

Last I heard the Gaulding deal fell through because daddy didn't pay, just like with what happened when Gaulding was dumped by Red Horse.

Also heard that that whole team has been replaced by Falk's people. Nobody working on the 30 last year will return this year. Gaulding might get a second chance with Falk but I doubt it.

Apparently Mike Massaro has decided to leave NBC. To be honest, I only recall a little bit of pit reporting, so forgive me if I don't really care.

He was mostly a pit Reporter throughout ESPN's Nascar coverage.

The can on the side ruins it. Than again I've always hated when they include a picture of their product on a car (this goes for every company). Just put the bloody logo on the thing, we all know what a beer can looks like!

Atlanta Motor Speedway is going to repave the track after the March race.

Edit: Here's the link to the story.

They should make it concrete or try a slick asphalt mixture (if such a thing exists).

Your first idea is better, I kinda miss Nashville apart from Kyle and Carl winning everything. Concrete is a very under-used paving medium especially in racing. It generally doesn't get potholes in it, it wouldn't get ridiculous waves in it like Atlanta and Texas are known to have, and Asphalt is getting more expensive like gas because the bitumen used to make the tar is a gasoline byproduct and refineries are becoming very efficient at making gasoline leaving less bitumen for paving.

Why would they REMOVE banking and ruin the track?
Sadly they aren't. Even though it's better than some tracks, TMS has a bad habit of becoming a train race at times, pretty much the middle half of the race barring cautions.

Off my head, this is an interesting idea. Firstly and absolutely required was a solution to 2016, which should forever be used as an example of Murphy's Law, so the absurd rain delays shouldn't be near the same level. Second, that layout gives me pause, for the better. Yes speeds may be down a bit, but going into 1 on a restart shouldn't be as dangerous with a wider racing path and a slower pace, and under green they can haul *** out of 4, overcook the entry of 1, and still recover without falling completely out of the groove. I also see how 1 & 2 would allow for more passing.

The only thing I question is why isn't all the track getting a full rebuild? The craters on 1-2 are dramatic, but 3-4 isn't silky smooth either.
