It's only marginally less ugly than that awful thing the Gibbs drivers + Joe I think were standing in front of ~6 months ago, that thing was hideous.

Personally liking the new Camry. Nice that they kept the front as an actual mold, unlike Ford who went back to stickers...

2017>2015>2013

They definitely look better than the 2013-esc Toyota.

@GTracerEHTeam True.

And to all others around here, Chevy seems to have made it official. The Chevy SS is going to die by the end of this year. So I wonder what model will replace the SS next season.

A quick check shows the Impala is the only full-size sedan they currently have in production aside from the SS, the Caprice (which is only being sold as a fleet/police car) and the Lumina (which is only sold in the Middle East and South Africa). Even if they introduce a new model sometime in this year they probably wouldn't have enough time to make a NASCAR version to submit for approval, so the Impala seems to be the only logical successor.

Unless there's a drastic change on the horizon for it, I'd like to see the Impala as a race car.

I'm guessing Chevy will run the Malibu instead of the Impala next year.
Maybe, though the Impala was used in NASCAR fairly recently (albiet as the rolling turd known as the Car Of Tomorrow) and would probably have more name recognition among NASCAR fans. The Malibu hasn't been seen in NASCAR since the '70s and is being pushed as more of an economy vehicle right now.

A few reasons why I suspect Chevy will go with the Malibu:

The Malibu is mid-size, a direct competitor to the Fusion and Camry, that are already in the sport.

The Malibu outsells the Impala by about 2:1.

Both good points. Of course, for all we know NASCAR may decide to let teams switch to Mustangs and Camaros next year like the Xfinity series, since those models fit more with the Monster-guzzling crowd's dynamic. And probably some nonsense reasoning about how it would save money for teams looking to move up from Xfinity or somesuch.

Personally, I prefer the Impala, but I can see the Malibu as well. I think it'll come down to which one GM decides needs more of a presence, and with Hendrick in your corner it'd be an easy boost to either if the "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" mentality still exists.

BREAKING: Carl Edwards will not race in 2017. Suarez to drive the #19 car for Joe Gibbs Racing. Official announcement coming on Wednesday.

I'm not a Gibbs fan but... DA FUNK!!?!?!? At the peak of his career to boot. Sounds like something must have gone wrong catastrophically behind the scenes. Though I find it interesting that Fox cannot prodive a possible reason why Edwards would prematurely end his career like this

Wowzers.

I'm sort of in shock now, I didn't expect this to happen anytime soon to be honest. I mean, he was in great form in recent seasons, and with a JGR ride, he sure was in a top notch team. Let's wait until the official statement tomorrow, who knows what will come up there.

Wow, didn't see that coming. :boggled:

Awfully strange that he'd make that decision so late in the off-season. I wonder if he was told something that made him not like his prospects after this year and figured it was best to just step away now.

We've known the SS was going out cause it wasn't that big sales wise, so they'll most likely bring back the Impala

As for Edwards perhaps he got tired of getting so close to the Championship, and being so far.

Or he just doesn't want to race anymore in general, it's not like he seemed super excited to me since moving to Gibbs.

Or Medical problems... :indiff:

Let's hope not, that would be horrible. Plus considering drivers like Junior and Vickers...it'd have to be something really really bad if he can't drive.

Plus if you read the article there is this...

In a stunning move, NASCAR star Carl Edwards is leaving Joe Gibbs Racing to pursue other interests outside of driving and will not compete in 2017

Maybe it's a super early April Fool's joke? I don't know, I just don't see why he would leave racing especially when Nascar finally started going in a direction he likes with the cars. I can't think of a reason he would leave apart from maybe the possibility of a messy divorce since he hides personal stuff pretty well.

This sudden Edwards exit makes NASCAR's loss of big name talent all the more obvious, serious and painful. There are several other top drivers - all over 40 - who will move on very soon.

Anyone could see that Edwards was always a bit different than the others. No one else did back flips! I won't say smarter and more multi-faceted, but maybe that expands slightly the more private and reserved Carl the FOX story presents.

It will be interesting to see what he does! A strange figure in motor racing passing into legend as the greatest who never won the championship?

I'm a big fan of Suarez, and looking forward to seeing him perform. He seems business-like and steady in his progress through the sport. I think he's had the benefit of a superior team. I don't think he will be a winner his first year. But he could.

Brainwave, what if he's going the Tony Stewart route and becoming an owner? I just can't see a guy who told the story many times before about how he knocked on motorhome doors to see if he could drive cars for people just saying "nope, I'm done here, have a nice life." I know we have to wait and see until tomorrow but something just doesn't click for me, a total disconnect.
