Really could do with a bit more landscaping, looks quite, er, bleak.

Looking forward to seeing it on TV. Just great to have another permanent racing facility in Aus.
Those pics remind me of how Eastern Creek looked when it opened in 1990.

The Bend needs someone to do a couple of flyovers in a Crop Duster full of grass seeds.

Anyone remember which races T8 will enter the V6 car?
I still don't think there is confirmation. Was supposed to be Bathurst and possibly, two other locations(one which, was supposed to be Adelaide). RD said the engine might not even be ready for Bathurst.

I hope there’s a bit more turf laid down by April for the Shannon’s Nationals. And hopefully I have money to make it down there.
I want to try to get to that also. It would be good to go to at least one event for a bit of reconnaissance before the Supercars round.

On another note, I saw on the headlines of Auto Action that Boost Mobile has threatened to stop sponsoring WAU if they move to the V6, hopefully they can find another manufacturer with a V8, and Andretti seems to be in talks with someone.

The first hint... https://autoaction.com.au/2018/03/07/team-sponsor-no-v8s-were-out

....and confirmation that it was Boost:

Guess that leaves out Alfa, BMW, audi, Nismo, VW, KIA.

Maybe good for Lexus.
Edit: also Chrysler

The threat from Boost really depends on how much they're tipping into the account.

If WAU crunch the numbers & Boost come up short, then the exits are here, here & here.

Being one of their naming rights sponsors it would have to be quite a substantial amount, and with sponsors becoming harder to entice into motorsport all the time, I don't think they would want to loose them. In any case, Holden hasn't said the TTV6 will be compulsary for the teams running their cars in the future.... yet.

Ideally for me, WAU would find another manufacturer that runs a V8. They keep Boost, less Holdens on the grid, a new manufacturer, and the lovely growl of a V8... win, win, win & win.

Do they sell the Charger down there?

They're only available as imports here, and then they get converted to RHD by aftermarket companies. Walkinshaw is one of the companies that does Camaro RHD conversions but I doubt GM would allow them to run them though.

It would have to be a Chrysler product of some sort. Seems logical given that Andretti Motorsport is from the USA...

Damn. I think the Charger would make a bad ass touring car. I think they sell the 300 down there? But it's due for replacement soon so might be a bad idea. Only companies with a V8 sedan I can think of (assuming they stay sedan - and I hope they do) is Lexus with the LS and BMW 5/6 series.

It's tough to call which manufacturer's are interested. The racing is still competitive, but whoever is jumping in, has to start developing yesterday.

The Charger would be cool, and yes, they do sell the 300c down here but I too think that would be a bad choice.

Thing is, the car doesn't have to come out with a V8. The Hyundai Group (Genesis, Hyundai, Kia) have their 5.0L Tau V8 engine. A Kia Stinger V8 Supercar would be pretty interesting. There's probably many other companies that we don't traditionally think off being associated with V8's that have access to some sort of a V8 engine through their parent/sister companies.

Edit: Thinking back, wasn't GRM going to run the Chev V8 in the Volvo shell at one stage? If my memory is correct, then WAU could run their engine in any body if the manufacturer was okay with it. I'm not sure why a manufacturer would, apart from cost, but it's just a thought.

Yep, Garry and Barry did say that. Plus, V8 supercars had/has the generic V8.

I read back to when W said they wouldn't join because of lack of technology in V8SC. the series is open. I mean, can't put it on Australia because the population isn't as great as other countries. People here, buy new cars, like there's no tomorrow.

I'm still surprised we haven't heard of anyone asking Toyota's permission. With the Camry a top seller and with a couple racing in NZ.

Except that I won't be watching because, even though they are points rounds now, VASC still can't stream them on their site.
Update on this. Asked the question on their facebook page and they responded:

At this stage we are unable to guarantee if races will be available on SuperView from Melbourne however we are working to bring these events to you on the service. Please check SuperView next week for availability.

This is something they should have worked out after the $240mil deal. Once the round got championship status, it should have been sorted for viewers.

I feel like it's a problem with the FIA and out of their hands for the most part.

It’ll interesting for Saturday’s second race as it’s finishing time is 7:20. With quite bad weather expected for Saturday, there’s a chance it’ll be quite dark.

Very happy for the AGP to finally be a championship event. Everything about it always just didn’t seem proper when it was non-championship, especially from a broadcast standpoint. Used to just have makeshift Channel 10 broadcast graphics that never really looked that good, and always had their own commentators. Now with it being a championship event, all sessions will be broadcast with normal TV graphics and commentators. It’ll all just seem normal.

7:20pm!!!!

Because the day's program is sooo packed there isn't any time to race earlier

So, Rullo will be driving his big sister's Altima, starting September.

Disappointed not to see him paired with Simona but Jacobson with Rick will be a good combo.

What happened to David Wall though?

David Wall got put behind the wall

Seriously though, he's either lost the backing that's got him drives in the past or, he's still got that big brown paper bag full of cash & will pick up a gig somewhere else.

Yeah, I was thinking that maybe Rullo tipped in more money for that drive than Wall did.
Rullo was quick at Adelaide.

He certainly was. He's got the talent for sure. Just think he would have been better served to have stayed in the S2 series last year, rather than pottering around the back of the grid in the LDM car.

As someone else said somewhere else, if Alex's father has connections with Castrol & had a hand in the sponsorship at Nissan, Alex probably came as part of the deal.

I agree about his premature graduation to the main game.
Another season in S2 at his age didn't have any drawbacks apart from him potentially having a worse year than in 2016.
Even then it could've all been put down to a character-building season packed with more experience for the kid.

His advisers needed to listen to some wise advice themselves

I'm going to assume that SuperView will be available this weekend since I logged in and saw a countdown to the first qualifying session and a schedule for the weekend...
