I think I speak for everyone that participates here, when I say that we can tell it's killing you. Other than bringing up new tracks and their build path which I appreciate, the flip side is your wanton quest for who will be the next manufacture to join the sport.

Auto Action didn't help with the teaser of a potential Alfa Supercar either.
Not just AA's teaser, they made one based on Alfas ideas for which of their cars would fit into VASC and other series. The speculative designs SS Media were coming up with, is the same thing.

I didn't know Penske sold Aplinas. http://www.penskeautomotive.com/
Being they are a manufacturer, and Alpina also recently beginning to sell cars here, it's a possibility for them to join. Leaves BMW out. Would be similar to how Alpina joined GT3 before factory BMWs.

I also wonder if Alfa Romeo have talked to Penske during last season. They showed interest at Homebush and early 2017, mentioning the Giulia and sprint Coupe could work in VASC. A DJRTP/Alfa/Shell partnership would be fantastic. Volvo came in(and switched up names/operations), were successful(also sold S60s) and left, after joining with the right team. Hope there is word on who has been talking with Penske. Waiting for news is killing me before the season starts.
It would be nice to see either of these manufactures in Supercars. We need more variety, just like the ATCC days!

New Red Bull Commodore on track today with Jordan Taylor behind the wheel.

I noticed late week that Jordan Taylor had just followed Jamie Whincup on Instagram lol, thought something might be on the cards after his trip here last year.

Not a fan of the ZB front in the Red Bull livery, but I do really like the rear. I think if the Red Bull car had normal colour headlights it’d look much better, at the moment the blue sort of merges in the rest of the front.

I think Roland Dane was trying to get Matt Cambell in the ZBiturbo, as a Bathurst wildcard. I can't remember if anyone else is lined up for it. Maybe Jordan Taylor.

Seems a bit silly, how are you suppose to evaluate a driver early on in the year, for a tiny portion of the season that happens late into the year...especially if part of that is the introduction of a brand new car. VASC yet again outdoing themselves with their written rules.

Never understood why they cover the headlights.

It's even more silly when the rules state that any driver taking part in these evaluation days, can't take part in the endurance races for that year. (not sure if that applies for wildcard entries). The "evaluation" part does seem a little redundant.

...and if Red bull knew this(i'm sure they did), why didn't they wait for a test day?

Maybe they used Taylor in the evaluation day so that no other team can have him for the enduros
Wouldn't put it past them, but as the article mentioned, the move ruled him out from getting a drive with Lowndes.

I'm split down the middle about the wildcard thing.

One on hand, we might get to see an absolute star fly-in, get to grips with the car/track & do a stellar job like Matthias Ekstrom.

On the other hand, if a total donkey's ass like Matt Neal gets a gig, he could end up affecting someone's championship such as this tool did in 2000.

I dunno? Should the Bathurst 1000 be a stand-alone event or, should they leave it as part of the Championship?

Look how many races Dumbrell just about ruined for Whincup(no doubt Whincup has taken his own self out a few times). The Enduro Cup would have to be a separate event, in that case. With the caliber of drivers and teams now, VASC could just about go back to teammates sharing a car. No guarantee a "stronger than most" line up would win.

Still, it's bonkers that a main driver has their championship(900 points) in the hands of a driver off the streets.

My opinion: Ban wildcard entries. It does not enhance the race in any way at all.

I was discussing this with some mates the other day...I actually think it should be stand alone, I want to see drivers going all out for a win, not settle for second because they have a championship to think about.

I know this wont go down well with a few around here, but that's why I wasn't upset with SVG at Bathurst last year, he ended up stuffing any chance he had another title (even though it was a slim chance), but I loved and respected the fact he was pushing so hard for a win....I think that's how it should be !

If the diehards have to have Bathurst as a championship round, make it another round, maybe a shorter race without co-drivers ?

I have mentioned Bathurst should be the last race of the year. It'd bookend the season with Adelaide.

I guess this will please Holden fans

If you get the right wildcard it could really boost the series. Jenson Button almost raced the Gold Coast in 2013.... That would have made the series explode with outside interest. Brendon Hartley has expressed an interest recently....

Any wildcard will struggle like most of the foreign full time drivers have in the past, Engel, Dahlgren, Silvestro, year one Premat etc etc.... However a capable addition like Eki/Priaulx will just make a great race greater.
