Fox Sports One is showing the 2007 Daytona 500. They are showing it in SD. I remember this race was in HD.

I had just bought my first HD TV for Christmas of '06. I didn't watch NASCAR at the time and remember flipping around looking for something to watch when I came across the race. It looked so good in HD I stopped flipping and watched it.

That finish, with the big crash, after watching that one car finish backwards, upside down and on fire, that got me hooked on NASCAR.

I find it hard to believe they only have a SD recording of that race.

Watching Monza Madness right now, and it's glitchy, entertaining, and, well, madness. I think the Pro Invitational Series proper should consider a race there. Complete with special guests from across motorsports.

Watched it as well. Mark Martin got screwed. I guess NASCAR wanted a feel good story by giving the win to Harvick by not throwing a caution

Larson can probably kiss his NASCAR career goodbye. Dropped a heavy racial slur while not realising he was speaking in the drivers chat (Which some drivers were live streaming), he was speaking to his team when he said it.

Looks like we’ll see Chastain in 42 now I imagine

Wait what?

Ohhh....oh no. :eek::lol:

Welp, congrats indeed to Ross Chastain on his new full-time Cup ride. Even though this is an absolute PR nightmare, the comedy potential of this dumpster fire is immense, and I'm black myself. Conversely, it'll be interesting to see how NASCAR handles the Bubba situation in comparison to this.

Bubba’s situation will probably be forgotten about with this.

Actually, Larson to the 43 MIGHT happen if CGR actually does get rid of him. I think most likely he will be suspended and not fired.

On one hand, that might actually bring some success to the 43 car, and I say that as someone who's a fan of Bubba.

On the other hand, there would be an immense crap-tornado in the media if Bubba got replaced by the guy who dropped the Hard R on livestream.

Larson has just been suspended without pay while Ganassi evaluates their options.

I liked Larson... but that stuff doesn’t fly

I still want to know what in Kyle's mind made him think that his word choice was a good option.

Larson has been suspended indefinetley.

The question I have is how will this be applied? They surely can't just do it for the eNASCAR event and they will have to do it for whenever the season restarts no? He can always run the WoO stream on iRacing (unless iRacing is ALSO banning him).

I don’t think Larson’s career is over, I think he’ll be suspended for the first few real life races back and then will be reinstated. Whether or not Ganassi keeps him is a better question, since it was highly likely he was leaving for another team in 2021. I think this takes him out of the running for the 48 car though, since Rick Hendrick won’t look kindly upon this.

Larson is good enough that someone will give him another chance. Tony Stewart, most likely.

I'm pretty sure he's out of the eNASCAR events for the time being. Between Chip Ginassi and his primary sponsors (namely McDonalds), I'd be surprised if he returns to tin-top cars in a meaningful capacity, even if he passes through the sensitivity training. Especially since, as you mentioned, his contract is up.

I think there's a healthy chance of iRacing straight banning him. Considering how much more traffic and limelight they've been getting recently, it's in their best interest to come off as well as possible. If I was working for iRacing's marketing department, Kyle Larson's FUBAR would be my #1 concern right now. I also wouldn't be surprised if Larson just self-exiles himself.

Larson has also been suspended indefinitely from iRacing.

I can't believe (ok maybe I can) the number of people on social media white knighting for Larson. Some cleaner examples include "like you've never said that before", "he wasn't even addressing a black person", "he was joking", etc. While I'm sure many people jokingly say that sort of stuff every day, most of them do it either under the guise of anonymity or say it among people who are OK with it.

Also, with the stereotype that NASCAR is an ignorant, redneck motorsport this probably is probably hitting them harder than normal. But, it sounds like swift action is being taken which is definitely a good thing since having someone say stuff like that on a live stream is a PR disaster assuming they were joking and downright concerning if they weren't.

I will still continue to support Larson. All of this is just a story that the media loves and his blown out of proportion. And of course NASCAR loves the attention, they need something to stay relevant at this time.

Also remember in 2013 Jeremy Clements was suspended a grand total of two weeks for using a racist slur while speaking to a journalist. Granted he is far less prominent than Larson and races for his mostly unsponsored family team, but using racist language is far below using prescription drugs but still above domestic violence allegations and DUI on the scale of things NASCAR takes seriously.

Personally I think DUI should result in a lifetime ban from a sport that is all about, you know, driving. Looking at you Michael Annett

Something tells me this is the exception. Nobody wants this sort of attention. Especially the work that's gone into NASCAR over the years to at least attempt to shed the confederate flag waving "tHe SoUtH wIlL rIsE aGaIn" redneck image.

As reported in the other thread, Credit One has terminated their sponsorship with Larson. So has Coca-Cola. If McDonald's does the same, he's gone.
