Gazetta has alleged that a 2024 deal isn't off the table.

That would be wild.
That would be very rough on Carlos. I still expect it to be a 2025 move, and Sainz goes to Audi/Sauber/whatever they're called.

Rough on Carlos unless a switch straight to Mercedes has been tabled to get it done.

Surely this was coincidence.

I can see the development of this years Mercedes hitting a definite bump, and later on in the season the 2025 car. Lewis won't be allowed to that technical data anymore as he is now pretty much Ferrari's inside man at Mercedes.

What kind of silly season 🤬 ery is this!? If I go back to sleep will this fix itself!?

I don't want to see a broken Hamilton. It's sad enough having seen Alonso, Vettel, Leclerc and Sainz go through it.

Lewis in red? I can't see it!

Also - what the hell does this mean for Leclerc? I'm pretty sure he's been expecting to be the priority driver for the foreseeable future. Now he has to take a backseat or what? I don't see Lecerc and Hamilton agreeing to diplomatic for long. I wouldn't be surprised if Leclerc moves to another team. Maybe it's not Sainz that's leaving...maybe Leclerc and Hamilton are trading?

I'll only truly believe it when I see an official announcement, but it all seems well and truly in the making.

Hell is about to freeze over.

Hamilton secured the greatest hair comeback of the century just to sacrifice it all for fulfilling the tifosi's prophecy.

He's truly a martyr.

I think that's like an awfully mismanaged club like Barcelona having a mole inside the floundering Manchester United.
Ferrari will have no idea what to do with the information anyways. They might give it back to Mercedes saying they cannot copy it.

Well I didn't expect that. Wonder if he'll bring in some personnel with him like Schumacher did.

I don't know about you guys but I'm having a bit of hard time processing this news!! 😂😂

Like why? For me, that move makes no sense unless he decided he wants to retire at the end of 2025 and want that final year with Ferrari! I really don't get it!

Ferrari have had a quicker car than Merc for a few years, he's not getting any younger and he won't get a Red Bull seat. One last hurrah with the most storied team in F1 history and realistically his best shot at an 8th title. He's also always admired Ferrari, as most racing drivers do.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team & Lewis Hamilton To Part Ways

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and Lewis Hamilton will part ways at the end of the 2024 season. Lewis has activated a release option in the contract announced last August and this season will therefore be his last driving for the Silver Arrows.

The news brings an end to what is currently a 17-year long relationship in F1 with Mercedes-Benz and an 11-year long partnership with the works team.

Toto Wolff, Team Principal & CEO, commented:
“In terms of a team-driver pairing, our relationship with Lewis has become the most successful the sport has seen, and that’s something we can look back on with pride; Lewis will always be an important part of Mercedes motorsport history. However, we knew our partnership would come to a natural end at some point, and that day has now come. We accept Lewis’s decision to seek a fresh challenge, and our opportunities for the future are exciting to contemplate. But for now, we still have one season to go, and we are focused on going racing to deliver a strong 2024.”

Lewis Hamilton added:
“I have had an amazing 11 years with this team and I'm so proud of what we have achieved together. Mercedes has been part of my life since I was 13 years old. It's a place where I have grown up, so making the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. But the time is right for me to take this step and I'm excited to be taking on a new challenge. I will be forever grateful for the incredible support of my Mercedes family, especially Toto for his friendship and leadership and I want to finish on a high together. I am 100% committed to delivering the best performance I can this season and making my last year with the Silver Arrows, one to remember.”

Hamilton to Ferrari.
Sainz to Audi.
Ocon to Merc.
Doohan to Alpine.

Convoluted way to get another Aussie on the grid but I'm down for it.

I think this is even bigger a shock than when he moved to Mercedes from McLaren. He doesn't have anything left to really prove at this point but if he brings Ferrari back to the top it would be some serious cherry on top of the cake.

This is too much, I'm at work but I can't even work anymore! I'm honestly in complete disbelief 😱😱😱😱😱

And its a multi year contract too!!!

That announcement has increased Ferrari’s stock market value by $10 billion today. Madness the effect Hamilton has had.
