Arron Love gone from Blanchard Racing, and at his own request too.

It's always a shame when someone gets dropped but he wasn't getting results and Cameron impressed when he was in the car last year. That team just looks like a bit of mess from the outside. A shame really.

How long before PremiAir get announced as the new GM factory team. You'd have to assume it will be them at this point. Don't think Roland Dane floating around is a coincidence. Probably.

Another cracking race last night. Hats off to Craig Baird and company for letting a bit more biff go, and even some NASCAR (lack of) track limits where it's not important.

Also, GT and Neylon's race calling was pretty good, but the bar has been set pretty low. I wouldn't mind seeing how GT and Crompton went together... or maybe even GT and Leigh Diffey.

Richie Stanaway needs to bugger off because he's a ****ing menace with his dirty driving. He totally screwed Mostert over for absolutely no reason and showed a total lack of respect for his fellow competitors. He backed up Mostert, ran him off the road, moved over too late when defending into turn 11, blocked him out of turn 5 and drilled Wood coming out of turn 4. I don't even know why he was even allowed back into the championship. Sure, he ended up going off the track at turn 12 but the damage was already done. I hope Mostert gives him one back today because that was ********.

Shame the battle up front wasn't as wild as it was with the rest of the field. Still easily the best Supercars race in some time. Hopefully the rest of the weekend continues like that.

Hopefully not because it was a total embarrassment. People driving like they're children and jumping at every opportunity no matter what. I thought Supercars was better than that.

Great job from the MSR pair to finish 1 & 2. Cameron Hill has been driving out of his skin so far this weekend... and I do like an underdog win. :)

And a pretty stupid statement from Barry Ryan, albeit in the heat of the moment.

“Supercars can pay for this one, this is going to Bairdo (driving standards advisor Craig Baird),” Le Brocq’s engineer Barry Ryan said to his driver on team radio moments after the incident.

This track has always had serious consequences due to the high speeds and close proximity of some of the walls. Sometimes you're the bug and sometimes you're the windscreen, that's all there is to it.

As far as I saw, Ryan Wood had the slightest of slip-ups with the car jumping sideways a bit that forced him into Le Broq but it's not like there was anything intentional about it. Just a young bloke going his hardest and making a small error... which he paid for.

Edit: Bad luck time certain pretty much ruined the race :irked:

Watched the races and wow. Is it 1998 for me all over again? Just keep Tander in the box. I think my brain has figured how to drown out Skaife.

Nothing (for me) will ever match Darrell Eastlake and Barry Sheene.

Right from their early days on SBS commentating of the 500cc World Championship they had an excitement for motorsport that's never been matched. Darrell Eastlake could make chess sound exciting.

I agree with Barry on this one.

I agree with Barry on this one.
This incident had nothing to do with the slight shift in rules though, and therefore was not on Bairdo in the slightest. Going by that methodology, maybe Barry should pay up when one of his drivers makes a slight mistake and bins someone else. I bet he won't though.

The nature of Albert Park’s track layout creates pack racing with these cars. If you have a run on someone and you don’t follow through with it, you’ll be a sitting duck for the car behind you.

When you’re racing in a pack like we saw in race 1, it’s going to be hard to avoid hitting someone else and I think under those conditions, the drivers have been hard but fair.

The width of the circuit plays a part too. It's almost impossible to cover when you're back in the pack.

Seems I'm not the only one that thinks there wasn't much in the Ryan Woods incident.

Three-time Supercars champ turned IndyCar ace Scott McLaughlin weighed into the topic on X, writing: “Ryan Wood penalty was BS. Outcome based. Plenty worse yesterday.”

Driving standards advisor Craig Baird replied to that post with a screenshot from an external television camera showing the contact at corner exit and added the words: “Enough said”.

That prompted a reply from another US-based Supercars graduate, Shane van Gisbergen, who posted an image from Wood’s onboard with the caption “Brother. That call is a shocker.”

I'm still of the opinion that RW gets treated far harsher than he should on many occasions, much like Cam Waters was in his early years.

And the now pulled post.

Race 7 red flagged. I guess that’s that. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the FOM don’t want Supercars making a mess of the track before the F1 race.

Edit: Or maybe it’s that 2 day turnaround for the NZ event.

I personally think this event should be held the weekend before the F1 race. So we can get longer races with no time certain BS.
I wonder if Supercars could get away with the two day format earlier that they’ve used elsewhere over Thursday and Friday. Thursday could be practice, two qualifying sessions and a race. Friday could be a single race after F1 has wrapped up for the day.

Yeah, poor Wood has been on the end of two very questionable penalties in back to back rounds now. Him sharing that image with others, is probably not going to do him any favors sadly. 😅
